A Genuflect of Media Hypocrisy: Christie’s Lane Closure versus Obama’s National Shutdown

Barry Secrest:

When the Republicans refused to unconditionally fund a heavily indebted US government over Obama controlled healthcare and its ensuingly fabulous debt, the President  powerfully reacted with The Workers’ hammer of Economic Justice and began shutting anything down that could be shutdown, and then some, as long as it did not interfere with the Oligarchs’ playtime.

The mainstream media has been showing its heavily biased colors again, as media outrage over Governor Chris Christies political revenge act of shutting down several lanes of traffic has seen wall to ceiling coverage, in a mere 48 hours…

However, when we contrast Christie’s singular political act of revenge on one bridge, as compared to Obama’s poltical revenge acts across the entire nation, the genuflect of media hypocrisy hits an all-time high.

In fact, Newbusters reported the following last night:

In less than 24 hours, the big three networks have devoted 17 times more coverage to a traffic scandal involving Chris Christie than they’ve allowed in the last six months to Barack Obama’s Internal Revenue Service controversy.

Since the story broke on Wednesday that aides to the New Jersey governor punished a local mayor’s lack of endorsement with a massive traffic jam, ABC, CBS and NBC have responded with 34 minutes and 28 seconds of coverage. Since July 1, these same networks managed a scant two minutes and eight seconds for the IRS targeting of Tea Party groups.

In contrast, journalists such as Good Morning America‘s George Stephanopoulos pounced on the developing Christie story. The GMA host opened the program on Thursday by announcing, “Chris Christie in crisis. Calls at this hour for the feds to step in, investigate the explosive e-mails. (MP3 audio here.)

Indeed, contrasting Christies denied bridge constriction with Obama’s admitted act of shutting down pretty much anything that didn’t move, stamps the media with an undeniable hypocrisy tag.

Below were the shutdowns as perpetrated by the Obama regime as outlined in early October 2013 from Conservative Refocus :

From Private Inns, unmanned US Memorials, monuments, old people’s homes, and even children’s cancer clinics, to both Federal and un-Federal parks, Obama became the Presidential equivalent of  the  Shutdown King.  If something moved–he stopped it, if it didn’t move–he guarded it– if it was hard to close–he barricaded it, all the while railing at Republicans for having the audacity to shutdown government, while “promising to veto bills funding veterans, cancer research, National Parks, and even the District of Columbia.

The masses would feel the pain of blocked funding just as keenly as their self-appointed Potentate felt the utter embarrassment of being laid upon by that ghastly torch and pitchfork crowd in Congress.

Contemptable brutes!

Who do they think they are, anyway? We’ll show them, said the Democrats in unison, and so began a whirlwind of closings and stoppages, despite an America disturbingly unperturbed about the whole entire debacle.

The US government became an even more constipated version of government gone extraordinarily wild:

Who ya gonna tell? Who cares? The media is just proving once again that it can and will decide who will be president, what laws will be passed, what will be discussed, who’s view we will be listening to. Until we all decide to pry them out of their luxury jobs with great benefits, who ya gonna tell? Hillary’s fingerprints are all over this story with Obama’s blessing to get O-Care out of the headlines. We need to do what the Icelandic people did after the crash of 2008. Demanded all Parliament resign. Voted people to rewrite their constitution so that no laws could be passed to cause that much damage to the Icelandic economy again. And are now voting in a new Parliament.

I think the American jury came in with a clear verdict that Ted Cruz and the Tea Party faction of the House were the guilty party of the government shutdown.

Pour yourself another tall glass of stupid.

@Ronald J. Ward:

Poor RJW. All he can do is parrot the false-fact emails he gets from OFA.

Kinda sad, really, that someone could be so taken in by a pack of lies.

@retire05: i think the tea bagging is taking a toll on rj{tb}w

Nets give ‘Bridgegate’ 17 times more coverage in 1 day than IRS scandal in 6 months

The Big Three networks, in a frenzy over New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s traffic headache dubbed “Bridgegate,” have devoted a whopping 34 minutes and 28 seconds of coverage to the affair in just the last 24 hours.

By comparison, that’s 17 times the two minutes, eight seconds devoted to President Obama’s IRS scandal in the last six months, according to an analysis by the Media Research Center.

“While routinely burying new stories on the IRS scandal, the media practically fell over themselves to start taking shots at the potential 2016 Republican presidential nominee,” said the conservative media watchdog.

Since Wednesday night, NBC News included six reports over 14 minutes and 14 seconds. CBS devoted five reports over 12 minutes and 27 seconds. ABC managed 4 stories over seven minutes and 47 seconds, said MRC.

As a comparison over the last six months, NBC featured five seconds on updating the IRS story. CBS responded with a minute and 41 seconds. ABC produced a meager 22 seconds.
