The Week in Radical Leftism – The Economist Disrespecting The Church Edition!

Welcome back to Day 89 of America’s liberation from the Biden*/Harris regime! We’ve got a light post for Good Friday, and a few weeks back The Economist’s news roundup I get emailed to me seemed to be “The Anti-Christianity Roundup!”, which seemed to be a good topic for a quick post on a big religious weekend. This was one of the more painful editions to read, as apparently the quality of The Economists’ writers have gone downhill since I dropped my subscription years ago:

How did the Catholic church go so wrong?

What you don’t see in this article is the author injecting her personal experience in  the newsletter – apparently she’s the child of a former Monk and Nun, I thought that the article would give some mor background info, but was instead a book review whose post’s title suggests that the fallibility of the men who have been Popes over the ages is somehow an indictment of the entire Catholic faith.

The secret life of the first millennial saint

Years ago during one period in my life I was a reader of The Washington Post’s Sunday edition and was dating a woman who worked in journalism. I used to feel a little bit guilty and maybe some intellectual lightweight that I could rarely make it to the end of their many long articles. Then one day Ex-Girlfriend was reading The Post at my place and blurted out at how bad their writers were for making their articles unnecessarily long.

Why that bizarre tangent? Around that same time I had no trouble reading start to end articles in The Economist. For this one I only made it about a third of the way in – I felt like the point was made and the rest was a lot of filler by someone getting paid by the word. If you make it to the and I was wrong feel free to ding me in the comments.

Even priests need the free market

The title intrigued the Economics geek in me, but the post just strung together a few disjointed arguments without making an actual point.

How odd Christian beliefs about sex shape the world

Money quote at the end:

Christian attitudes to sex are so important in world politics at the moment. But it feels like a mistake to take this oddness towards sex too much on its own terms. Why are American conservatives currently crushing women’s reproductive rights?

Friendly advice, Economist: Maybe hire writers who actually have a basic understand of the topics they’re covering?

America’s Gen Z has got religion

Another disappointingly too short article – aside form a good chart showing differences between generations’ religious fervor, little explanation. Here’s my personal, completely unresearched theory: Maybe the generation whose formative years were spent being told that a closeted gay, black, cheap Chicago politician was The Messiah saw how well that turned out. Maybe Barry O’s failed presidency showed a generation that Better is out there. Or maybe I’m wrong, just a shame that article didn’t dig deeper.

How TikTok became a religious pulpit

The title had me expecting to give a quick blurb about trusting a platform owned by Communists to spread the word about faith, but this was actually the one good article out of this bunch, It broke down how Tik Tok is being used by various churches to reach the next generation – it’s worth a few minutes of your time.

Happy Easter, and Happy Passover to my Jewish friends!

And let’s not lose sight of the reason for the season – He is risen. And building hot rods.

How odd Christian beliefs about sex shape the world

Is this article claiming all the really weird sex fetishes and reality-denying acting outs we’re seeing in all these perverts are just because they all had Christian teachers and parents?
Cause I don’t believe that for an instant.
These human, reality-deniers are the result of an atheistic upbringing, by parents (or just one) who maybe went to church twice a year. By teachers who kicked religion out of school and denigrated it regularly to their students.

How did the Catholic church go so wrong?

Daughter of a monk and nun? There’s quite a story right there, if true.

The secret life of the first millennial saint

How can an article like that in a leftist publication not draw condemnation from the left? Actual evidence of faith and miracles? How’d they get away with it?

Even priests need the free market

I don’t think church attendance is down because of lack of faith; it’s down because too many churches/pastors have become woke mouthpieces for the LGBTQYEI#&#P@! agenda.

How odd Christian beliefs about sex shape the world

I guess those leftists don’t understand that the Immaculate Conception IS mysterious and may not have a practical explanation. Like a leftist judge ruling against Trump, God doesn’t have to follow the rules. I guess anything but full-on nonstop orgies is “weird”?

America’s Gen Z has got religion

Maybe Gen Z is the generation most indoctrinated with leftist propaganda that has blown up in their faces. Maybe they believed it the most.

How TikTok became a religious pulpit

Some people may be a little too desperate to find something to believe in.

Happy Easter, dude!
