First off, while some would argue that the current occupant of The White House has been worse, I refuse to acknowledge that someone who’s not even in control of his bowel movements is somehow in charge of the country. Yes, I know that t here’s a strong case for James Buchanan in that role but unlike Barry O, JB didn’t intentionally tear the country apart. And as much as Obama had the world in the palm of his hand in 2008, now he’s lost his luster. Dr. John broke down Barry’s anger yesterday, centered around his scolding black men to vote for a woman once described as someone who “Reminds me of my ex-wife. And I’ve never been divorced!” Even when he tries talking smack it comes off as forced, like at the DNC Convention where he called Trump “That neighbor running his leaf blower at 8:00 in the morning.” What? But that’s not the reason for this post.
Back in January Netflix released the movie “Leave the World Behind.” American Thinker’s JB Shurk provides a succinct intro:
Netflix unveiled a movie last month called Leave the World Behind that was about as subtle as an Antifa-thrown brick through a windshield: societal chaos and global disaster are heading our way. Filled with Hollywood heavyweights (Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, and Kevin Bacon — with Ali apparently taking over a role originally meant for Denzel Washington) and directed by Sam Esmail (the auteur behind the award-winning Mr. Robot), the stylish production was certainly meant to get people’s attention. Speaking of production, Barack and Michelle Obama (executive producers) and their narcissistically-named Higher Ground Productions company helped to give the apocalyptic tale a global audience.
Since its release, the movie has sparked a fever pitch of commentary. Hated by some and loved by others, a recurring complaint is that the movie is all build-up without any pay-off. It crawls along with a Hitchcockian rhythm of rising suspense and then abruptly ends without any explanation. Between beginning and end, a tiny community outside of New York City is hit with an Internet blackout, an out-of-control oil tanker running aground, electric grid failures, unusual animal behavior, strange ear-piercing noises that appear to cause mental confusion and tooth-loss, self-driving Teslas blocking highway escape, and menacing drones dropping red leaflets purportedly from foreign powers claiming responsibility for all the craziness. Oh, and Julia Roberts utters a bunch of lines to make sure that every viewer in the world knows white people are racist.
Read the whole thing. I watched out of morbid curiosity and if you have an idea of what to expect it falls squarely in the “Worth watching once and only once” category. You feel no desire to ever rewatch, but you’re also not left with the Adam Sandler-esque feeling of, “Good Lord, my life is now 90 minutes shorter” when the film ends. What I found amusing about the movie is how its racial division punches fail to land the way Team Barry O intended. For example, Julia Roberts’ racist remarks come from her character being an AWFL (Affluent White Female Leftist). The message couldn’t be any clearer – your best racism comes from Leftist women.
Then later there’s a bizarre sequence that jumps back & forth between Ali sharing his wine collection with Roberts, while Ali’s young adult daughter invites Hawke down to the pool to toke up. After some wine Ali invites Roberts down to the room where he can show off his impressive record collection. She puts on some song that inspires her to throw down the “embarrassing white woman dance.” At some point she and Ali kiss, although it ends at that and pretty quickly. Over by the pool, while nothing physical happens there’s a definite vibe between Hawke and the daughter. Again, the movie sends a clear picture – nonwhite people are extremely promiscuous and will try to ply white people with intoxicants.
Another interesting scene comes when the families need some medication, and decide to try Ali’s handyman who lives up the road, played by Bacon. Bacon is unwilling to help, and is portrayed as some crazy shotgun wielding MAGA prepper. He is the only one who is truly prepared for whatever happens next, and he finally sells them the meds. Of course, had this movie played out further or if a sequel is ever made, in reality Bacon’s family will probably be the only one still alive in a year.
But the part that inspired this post was a conversation between Ali and his daughter while they’re alone. As transcribed from another review:
“I’m asking for you to remember that if the world falls apart, trust should not be doled out easily to anyone, especially white people,” she tells her father. “Even mom,” who is presumably white (and has presumably been killed in a plane crash), “would agree with me on that,” she adds.
And that is what is so horrible about a former President having his name attached to a story with a message like this. Even in normal times as President you might be disliked by half of the country, but you’re still President to all Americans. For a former President to be part of a story throwing down such gross and blatant racial animosity is disgusting. And unfortunately this is completely on brand for the man who once promised to “Fundamentally transform this country.”
I’m reminded more of the quote from Machiavelli that the Israelis like to repeat – “If someone says they are going to kill you, believe them.”
This Obama rant to where he tried to shame black men is really the gift that keeps on giving.
There is an Obama challenge now on TikTok, where black men who are voting for Donald Trump are also telling you about all of the Republican women who are running for various down ballot… pic.twitter.com/9pktepX7xP

Barack Obama lecturing black men is like a dead beat dad not speaking to his kids for a decade and then showing up like he has some kind of authority.

Obama is what he always was: a racist socialist that blames US power for the problems socialism has caused.
It’s scary when you think about for how long he got away with putting a happy hopey changey face on it
