Democrats are lowering their expectations in advance of the Vance-Walz debate tonight.
Some Democratic allies of Gov. Tim Walz are concerned about how he will fare in the vice presidential debate between him and Sen. JD Vance, worrying that the Minnesota governor remains untested.
“We’ve never seen him on the national scale before,” a Minnesota Democrat told Politico. The outlet reported that Vance hasn’t been tested in a scenario like a debate, where he will face direct questioning and attacks from the other side.
Walz and Vance are set to clash on Tuesday during the first vice presidential debate, which will be moderated by CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan.
And ahead of his debate with JD Vance Tuesday — by far Walz’s most high profile event of the presidential campaign — some of his allies privately say they worry he won’t live up to Vice President Kamala Harris’ debate performance against former President Donald Trump.
Gov. Tim Walz is not known as a gifted debater.
Behind closed doors, the folksy, fun-loving governor, can be overly defensive when confronted about his mistakes, according to fellow Minnesota Democrats. During his first campaign in 2006, he also developed a reputation for speaking so quickly that an ally characterized him as “a bit manic.” A former constituent and supporter recalled that at one of Walz’s first fundraisers in Minnesota that year, the vice presidential hopeful rambled for 45 minutes without notes and seemingly without taking a breath.
Also:
“He can be very: ‘That’s it I’m done,’” a Minnesota state lawmaker told the outlet. Politico reported that Walz shuts down conversations and gets defensive when he’s asked to discuss “missteps” in private, and it noted Walz was “still largely untested and has never faced the intense, direct questioning that Vance is sure to launch.”
Walz did duck questions today

Walz, as has Harris, has been dodging the press. The Washinton Post calls his campaign “bubble wrapped.”
He has been shown to lose his cool. He gave a middle finger salute to someone who greeted him with a “Trump 2024, baby!” welcome.
Tim Walz stuck his middle finger up at a Michigan fan who yelled “Trump 2024 Baby!”
Is this who you really want as VP, someone who can’t even maintain composure or control himself?

He is think skinned and perhaps he is nervous.
The cynic in me is saying that democrats could be expected to lower expectations for Walz as a Machiavellian ploy to lure Vance into complacency.
Except for this.
WASHINGTON — Vice President Kamala Harris revealed Monday that she suffered from insomnia after President Biden endorsed her as his successor — and that she was sleep-deprived the morning she picked her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
Harris, 59, told “All The Smoke” hosts Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson that she made her “gut” decision to select Walz after being unable to sleep much the night before, waking up early that Tuesday in Washington and using cooking to calm her mind.
“From the time that the president called me and told me he wasn’t running, I mean, it’s just like everything was in speedy, speedy motion, and I was not sleeping so well,” Harris told the basketball stars, who both played for the Harris-supported Golden State Warriors.
“And that one morning I just, I mean, I had, I don’t know, a few hours’ sleep — and I, you know, I like to sleep. I just got up,” she said. “I was like — so I just went out and got a pork roast and started marinating it.”
Wait, what?
Why on Earth would you even say this? How stupid does one have to be?
She has piled onto the low expectation wagon and additionally has undermined Walz. It sounds as though she has buyer’s remorse about her choice of Walz for VP.
Of course, this too also could be part of the ploy, but it just sounds so stupid.
Neither is able to face a live interview. That’s a pretty sad indictment of them and it’s unsuitable for aspirants seeking the highest office in the land.
And then there’s James Comer’s investigation into Walz and his Chinese Communist Party connections
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer on Monday subpoenaed the Department of Homeland Security seeking records related to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s China connections after whistleblowers raised concerns.
Comer says his committee learned from the whistleblowers there is “serious concern” among DHS personnel “regarding a longstanding connection between the CCP and Minnesota Governor Timothy James Walz,” according to the subpoena cover letter sent Monday.
Walz is now the Democratic vice presidential nominee.
Comer’s committee has led a probe into the China’s efforts to infiltrate the United States, finding one method favored by the Communist Party is influencing subnational leaders, which include officials like state governors and legislators.
…
Walz has a history with China dating back to his stint as an English teacher in 1989 just months after the Chinese government cracked down on pro-democracy protestors in the Tiananmen Square massacre.
By the 1990s, Walz began organizing regular trips to China for his high school students and even took his honeymoon in the communist country when he married his wife in 1994.
And Walz favors others who share his affection for Communist dictators.
A cabinet-level political appointee of Minnesota’s Democratic Gov. Tim Walz decorated the walls of her home with posters of murderous communist dictators, according to a photo posted on Facebook in December 2021 that was discovered by a Minnesota resident and shared with Fox News Digital.
Ida Rukavina, the commissioner of Minnesota’s Department of Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation, was appointed by Walz in 2022 to oversee the economic development of the northeastern part of the state, where the world’s largest untapped copper-nickel reserve sits.
On Dec. 19, 2021, Rukavina posted a photo of her dog to Facebook, according to metadata attached to the image, which appears to have been deleted. In the background were clearly visible posters of communist leaders Mao Zedong and Che Guevara decorating the wall. The poster of Mao, China’s communist dictator from the late 1940s until his death in 1976, and whose policies have been blamed for the deaths of millions, included the communist slogan frequently extolled during his rule: “Revolution is not guilty.”
We’ve got a guy who loves Communist China and gives you the middle finger and a woman who pulls out a pork roast in stressful situations and is unable to speak extemporaneously without sounding like an airhead.
These two could be the dumbest pair ever to seek the leadership of this country.
God help us.

Except for liberals being foolish.
The Demo-Rats are trying to avoid the M.S. Media who happen to be their biggest supporters listen just tells us something about them and what’s up with them
I thought dems wanted to criminalize “disinformation.”
Tim Walz is known as a bulldog when it comes to debate.
It should be a hot time in the old town tonight.
Walz is being a bulldog, as predicted.
His only weakness might be IF he’s asked to define one of kamala’s policies.
She never clarified most of her policies so he can’t know the answer.
How smart does a puppet have to be?
Remember when we were told how dumb Dan Quayle and Sara Palin were? I was never a huge fan of either bot both are rocket scientists compared to these two
COULD be the dumbest? What on earth is the baseline? There have been a number of fools, grifters, con-men, liars, and communists, but none so stupid, so ignorant, so unaccomplished, so utterly devoid of respect for the American people and the Constitution in all our history.
