Kamala Harris’s a first quasi-solid policy proposal was plagiarized directly from Donald Trump. It was Trump’s proposal to end taxes on tips. Then Harris decided that she thought of it.
Now we have her first real policy and it’s everything you’d expect from her. She needed a villain – it’s the food industry- and she has decided on a plan to slay the demon. She will lower your food costs by making food disappear.
Vice President Harris on Friday will outline a series of economic policy proposals as part of her presidential campaign, including a call for a federal ban on corporate price-gouging.
Harris will deliver remarks in North Carolina, a battleground state where her campaign said she will focus on plans to lower the cost of groceries. The vice president will say that soaring meat prices in particular have contributed to a spike in grocery bills, and she will call out corporate consolidation in the market.
The Harris campaign said the vice president will outline a plan for her first 100 days in office if elected that would lay out a federal ban on price gouging, making clear that large companies can’t exploit consumers to increase profits.
This is called price fixing and it never works.
Price Controls: Still A Bad Idea
The negative effects of price controls are many. By creating shortages, they often cause people to wait in line, they often cause the quality of products whose prices are controlled to fall, and they can lead to favoritism by suppliers. All those effects remain until the price controls are ended. But even after the price controls are gone, some of the regulations that came about as a result of the controls remain. Let’s not go down the price control path again.
Why Price Controls Should Stay in the History Books
Price controls have had a very long but not very successful history. Although economists accept that there are certain limited circumstances in which price controls can improve outcomes, economic theory and analysis of history show that broad price controls would be costly and of limited effectiveness. Appropriate fiscal and monetary policies can reduce inflation without the costs imposed by price controls.
Price controls lead to “skimpflation.”
The meat industry, like other industries that faced price controls, hated the OPA system. And without the ability to legally raise prices, businesses resorted to other tactics to maximize their profits. One is a phenomenon we’ve dubbed “Skimpflation” at Planet Money. That’s when instead of simply raising prices, companies skimp on the goods and services they provide, degrading the quality of the stuff they sell. This seems to be happening now, especially in the service sector, which is struggling to recruit and retain workers. Instead of paying workers enough to attract and retain them, some businesses are skimping on customer service. It’s a form of stealth inflation.
Price controls make things rare.
Most people are unaware of just how radically socialistic Harris is.
A significant new Media Research Center poll finds that large majorities of registered Democrats and Independents who voted for Joe Biden in 2020 — exactly those who would be expected to support Vice President Kamala Harris in this year’s contest — are mostly in the dark about many of the controversial and radical positions Harris has taken.
It’s time they learned.
As time progresses and Kamala Harris speaks, she will continue to out herself for what she is.

Democrats always need a villain. I recall that when Obama first started out with Obamacare, the doctors were the villains for performing unnecessary surgeries. Then, when they decided the doctors they needed to support them didn’t like being accused of performing unnecessary surgeries, they pivoted to the evil insurance companies, who were raking in a pornographic 3% profit. Democrats cannot justify anything they want to do without inventing a villain. Reminds me of someone else.
However, I wonder if, like gun control, is the inflation driving this stupid idea or is it merely a premise to carry out a socialist agenda where the government takes over the means of production?

Not a lot of people might remember when Richard Nixon tried this same thing . He wanted to slow inflation so he implemented his one/ two & three phase plan . Which was for renting and housing . He told the landlords that at a certain date the rents would have to have freeze put on the rates , Guess what the landlords did ? They increased their rent before it was installed . The ideal backfired and had to be removed . This not how the Harris & Biden administration will solve this problem either .
Or, does anyone remember why he felt he had to do this? Yeah… that’s right. High energy costs because of an OPEC oil embargo. High energy costs. Creating high prices across the board.
Thankfully we have abundant reliable green energy keeping our energy cost down…./s.

Kamala would have been younger than 9 at the time, so she has no recollection of it.
I well remember watching our old “wall-to-wall carpet,” turn to carpet noodles because it was so old and the landlord refused to do even one penny in improvements.
Gee, same old tactic:
Socialists/communists create the problem.
(This time they constrict oil/energy causing prices across the board to rise.)
Socialists/communists propose their solution.
(This time price controls on food, medicine and rent.)
We all end up impoverished by the socialism/communism while the oligarchs get richer-then-God.
We’ve also seen how this plays out.
The people burned down the Soviet Parliament building and tore down statues of Soviet leaders while the republics declared themselves independent.
Could we become 50 individual states like before the Constitution?
It’s more plausible than us all submitting to communism.
Communists eventually go after the food. Marx advocated it in his Manifesto. Control the food, control the people. Use it as a weapon- challenge us and starve. Stalin and Mao killed tens of millions with this tactic. People need to WTFU and fast.
