It’s Iran and democrats vs. America

There once was a Marx Brothers movie called “Horse Feathers” and in it was contained a skit about today’s democrat party. The skit included a song. The lyrics went in part like this:

[WAGSTAFF]
I don’t know what they have to say
It makes no difference anyway
Whatever it is, I’m against it
No matter what it is or who commenced it
I’m against it

Your proposition may be good
But let’s have one thing understood:
Whatever it is, I’m against it
And even when you’ve changed it or condensed it
I’m against it

I’m opposed to it
On general principles, I’m opposed to it

This pretty accurately describes today’s democrat party. It is said that if Trump were to cure cancer, democrats would cry for cancer. Again, accurate.

democrats don’t learn easily. Often they don’t learn at all. The truth is, they hate Trump more than they love their own country. They still don’t understand Trump and they certainly do not understand the Persian mind.

There is much caterwauling on the left about Trump’s decision to terminate Qasem Soleimani. As I have argued, it was long overdue. Nonetheless, democrats are echoing Iranian talking points in condemnation of the action. First, some background.

Soleimani was responsible for 600 dead American soldiers and Marines and cost the limbs of thousands more, but there’s more. He was the architect of Iranian policy which included the following.

You will recall that Iran seized two Navy gunboats which had strayed into Iranian waters. Fair enough, but then Iran, in violation of the Geneva Convention, Iran humiliated the detainees and used them for propaganda purposes.

Over the previous six months before that:

-Sealed a nuclear deal with the U.S.

-Kept four Americans in prisons and captivity inside Iran under harsh conditions

-Has maintained its role as the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world

-Repeatedly violated UN sanctions with a series of missile tests

-Taken captive 10 U.S. Navy sailors for allegedly drifting into their claimed waters

This year

Iran attacks oil tankers

Iran shoots down US drone

Iran attacked Saudi oilfields by proxy

Iran continues call for death to Israel

In response to the elimination of Soleimani Iran says it will abandon its commitment to the 2015 agreement.

Iran officials announced Sunday they will abandon the rogue nation’s commitments to the 2015 nuclear deal with world powers after the United States killed one of Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani in an airstrike in Baghdad Friday.

Sunday’s announcement, which represented the clearest nuclear proliferation threat yet made by Iran since President Trump unilaterally withdrew from the accord, came after another Iranian official said it would consider taking even-harsher steps over the killing of Soleimani.

Knock me over with a feather. The Iranians are going to abandon an agreement they’ve been violating since its inception:
Iran is violating the deal
Iran Violates 2015 Nuclear Deal
Why Iran just violated part of the 2015 nuclear deal
Evidence that Iran Violated the Nuclear Deal Since Day One?
UN reports increasing violations of Iran nuclear deal
Iran Breaches the Nuclear Deal and UN Resolutions for Third Time

They never had any intention of abiding by the deal and only a fool could fail to see that.

House democrats have decided to side with Iran

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) wrote a letter to her Democrat colleagues in the House on Sunday to reveal a new “War Powers Resolution” that amounts to a pre-emptive surrender to Iran in ongoing hostilities.

Pelosi’s letter begins with the declaration that President Donald Trump’s airstrike last week targeting Iranian General Qasem Suleimani, leader of the terrorist Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IGRC) Quds Force, responsible for the murders of hundreds of Americans and for recent attacks on the U.S. embassy in Baghdad, was “provocative and disproportionate,” terms suggesting the attack was illegal under international law and could constitute a war crime.

Harvard Law School professor emeritus (and Democrat) Alan Dershowitz argued in Monday’s Wall Street Journal that the strike was not only lawful, but an “easy call”: “The president has the constitutional authority to take military actions, short of declaring war, that he and his advisers deem necessary to protect American citizens. This authority is extremely broad, especially when the actions must, by their nature, be kept secret from the intended target.”

They really don’t seem to like the United States. Now pay attention here. Breitbart:

Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the head of Iran’s elite Quds Force whom the U.S. assassinated in an airstrike, once threated to destroy all of President Donald Trump’s belongings.

“You know that this war will destroy all that you possess. You will start this war but we will be the ones to impose its end. Therefore you have to be careful about insulting the Iranian people and the president of our Republic,” Soleimani uttered in a July 2018 speech, reported at the time by Al Alam.

“You know our power in the region and our capabilities in asymmetric war. We will act and we will work,”  he reportedly added.

Why would he say “You will start this war”? To understand this one needs to comprehend the minds of Middle Eastern leaders. To understand that, one needs to understand that it is the same reason that no American President has been able to establish a lasting peace accord in the Middle East.

They don’t want solutions. They want the issues.

Soleimani said said “You will start this war” knowing that he would continue his proxy wars and incessantly goad the US into a conflict at which time he would claim victim status. Arafat did the same thing over and over and over. Palestinians do it to this day. They launch rocket after rocket into Israel and scream “victim!” when Israel responds while the UN acts oblivious.

It is the regional motus operandi, but this time Trump called his bluff. You would think that the Iranian leadership would be pleased with Soleimani finally getting access to those 72 virgins. Maybe he could catch up with Jeffrey Epstein.

Chuck Schumer said that Trump was “bumbling” the US into a major war.

He doesn’t understand Trump. Not at all. Trump is very much anti-war. He had his doubts about the Iraq war at the beginning and turned against it after a time.  He has stated that he wants US troops out of Afghanistan by the end of 2020. Trump does not want a war but he has made clear that the US will no longer tolerate a proxy war either. He may need to play whack-a-mullah for a while.

Here was Trump’s permission slip for the current action:

The United States on Monday designated Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps a foreign terrorist organization, an unprecedented declaration against a foreign government that may prompt retaliation and make it harder for American diplomats and military officers to work with allies in the region.

It is the first time that the U.S. has designated an entity of another government as a terrorist organization, placing a group with vast economic resources that answers only to Iran’s supreme leader in the same category as al-Qaida and the Islamic State.

“This unprecedented step, led by the Department of State, recognizes the reality that Iran is not only a state sponsor of terrorism, but that the IRGC actively participates in, finances and promotes terrorism as a tool of statecraft,” President Donald Trump said in announcing the measure.

One Iranian legislator has suggested that the people of Iran contribute to putting a bounty of $80 million on Trump’s head. Or they could use more of that billion dollars in cash Obama sent them to help defray the high cost of financing Iranian terrorism.
