The left wing media continues to give us good reasons to hate them

You cannot help but wonder when it happened.

When did the media completely abandon its principles? You can’t go for long without being reminded of the reasons Americans have grown to hate them. An incident at the recent Army Navy football game captured this in microcosm.

Cadets and Midshipmen were seen flashing a hand sign during a segment

As soon as it was seen by the left wing media they sprang into outrage mode without a single question.:

democrat legislators also found the need to participate in the outrage

There was just one little problem. It wasn’t a white power symbol.

It was part of a “circle game.”

West Point cadets and Naval Academy midshipmen accused of flashing a “white power”-linked hand sign on television last week were instead playing a popular prank among teenagers known as the “circle game,” military officials said Friday.

After an internal investigation launched against the cadets and midshipmen — who were seen flashing the “OK” hand symbol during a Dec. 14 ESPN broadcast before the annual Army-Navy football game — the U.S. Military Academy found that “the intent was not associated with ideologies or movements that are contrary to the Army values.”

“We investigated this matter thoroughly,” U.S. Military Academy Superintendent Lt. Gen. Darryl Williams said in a statement.

“Last Saturday we had reason to believe these actions were an innocent game and not linked to extremism, but we must take allegations such as these very seriously. We are disappointed by the immature behavior of the cadets,” Williams said.

The U.S. Naval Academy, which completed its own investigation into the hand gestures by two of its midshipmen, made a similar determination.

“The investigation found no evidence of racist intent,” Naval Academy Superintendent Vice Adm. Sean Buck said in a service statement.

“The Naval Academy is fully committed to preparing young men and women to become professional officers of competence, character, and compassion in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps; in this case, we recognize there is more work to be done,” Buck said.

The hand signs were captured as ESPN anchor Reece Davis talked about the rivalry while surrounded by a group of students, some flashing the “OK” hand symbol.

This is another version of the Convington Catholic/ Nicholas Sandmann incident. You’d think they might have learned.

Sadly, no.

They’re still idiots. There is this terrible lust to be the first to report, the first to display outrage, the first to demand accountability (all wrongly) that they have stopped asking questions like “Is this accurate? Is is it true? Is there another explanation?”

We’ve seen a million things reported that look weird. Many of us get emails in which some letter or story is attributed to someone and you know that person didn’t say or write it. I always plead with my friends not to re-transmit or retweet anything that does not have a legitimate link to what is being asserted.

But the media?

Good God, they should live by some kind of journalistic standard and yet they do not. Shoddy is a not standard for which to strive.

What harm would it have caused to do a little digging and hesitate to put microphones in front of ignorant firebrands especially anxious to smear anyone who could by any number of degrees of Kevin Bacon be connected to Donald Trump.

This is another yuge black eye for the media. They keep giving us good reasons to disbelieve and really, really dislike them.  This absolutely was #fakenews. A sane person, a principled person would be embarrassed, admit the error and stop repeating the mistakes.

Still waiting on the apologies.
