Just insane:
[/sarcasm]
Actually, the viral video by Scott Pappalardo is the one that has lost its mind. His video has been shared and viewed and copied over 15.2 million times. Nothing gets the anti-2nd Amendment/anti-gun activists excited as much as “pro”-2nd Amendment and pro-gun advocates doing penitence by turning against their 2nd Amendment rights and willfully disarming themselves.
And yeah Scott Pappalardo, you are stupid for making this personal choice and seeking praise and virtual pat-on-the-backs from the pitchfork and torches mob:
So, this gun will never take the life of a child. Ok. But neither will it ever save the life of one. It will never stop a bad guy from committing violence against society. Actually…Pappalardo would have to go further if he is sincere in the nonsense he espouses.
If he went no further in disfiguring his weapon than what he did in the video, then it’s still partially operational. He only destroyed the barrel and “upper” section of the weapon. The lower part is still functional, which is where the preban concerns itself. The function of the lower and expandable stock, Magwell, trigger, grip, etc. are what get the legal attention and banning. The upper barrel portion is meaningless in the bans because it functions just like any other sport, hunting, or bolt action rifle. For a couple hundred or less, it can be refitted as a new preban legalized weapon.
A former fetus, the “wordsmith from nantucket” was born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1968. Adopted at birth, wordsmith grew up a military brat. He achieved his B.A. in English from the University of California, Los Angeles (graduating in the top 97% of his class), where he also competed rings for the UCLA mens gymnastics team. The events of 9/11 woke him from his political slumber and malaise. Currently a personal trainer and gymnastics coach.
The wordsmith has never been to Nantucket.
What was it they said about stupid people in large numbers like we saw in Washington D.C. demanding More Gun Control and demanding Big Brother then eating Tide Pods then they watch with their mouths open as more Americans donate to the NRA. Its time for David Hogg to learn a little lession he wont learn from his NEA run school and its called Humility Time for your serving of crow and humble pie Hogg
What wont be endlessly reported https://www.washingtonpost.com/…/school-shootings…/f4ead9f2-2247-11e8-94da-ebf9…
Cant have facts reported wtf Wapo they are trying to take another nibble out of the 2nd, now back to fear mongering slanting statistics and generally being the liberal rag you have proven to be by hiring a Podesta.
Never a single mention of how to correct the problems with the left’s beloved background check and big government’s protection of society which actually CAUSED the Parkland tragedy. This can only indicate that it is the LEFT which is more than happy to accept the “collateral damage” of innocent deaths to underscore their calls for gun bans.
@Deplorable Me: Excellent point, Deplorable Me.
Recall how many people have been shot, wounded or killed because Obama/Holder wanted to get a point for their anti-gun narrative by running guns to Mexican gangs in Fast & Furious.
Lives of Americans are mere talking points to liberals like these anti-gun people including Obama, Holder, & Hogg.
Obama’s DOJ/DOE program to slow the “school to prison pipeline” is the ONLY reason Nikolaus Cruz had nothing bad on his background check!
If Obama’s program wasn’t designed to produce dead schoolchildren it certainly was an unsurprising side effect.
Hey useful idiots want to do some good then take you dumb cardboard signs with dumb anti gun anti NRA slogans on them over to a recycling center they can recycle them into new cardboard boxes which can be used to ship cans or food frozen foods and stuff to the stores where needy families can buy it and feed their kids but knowing you lazy bones liberals you’ll just leave them at the dumpster to be hauled away to a landfill
@Deplorable Me: Yes universal background checks now! http://dailycaller.com/2018/04/01/democrats-pakistani-background-checks/
Final edit: Mea Culpa, my original hypothetical stacked the deck, in a way I truly did not intend. As of 1:36 p.m. CT, I have the numbers in here that make the case I’d originally intended.
————————————–
I always get the nagging sense that the “logistics-based” arguments between gun-rights and gun-control advocates is pointless – that they miss the deeper “values-based” divide that makes the logistical arguments utterly superfluous.
This is meant as a “trolley-problem” question (no right or wrong answer)
Would you rather live in:
A) A society where 10,000 people are killed by guns each year; but
* all individuals have the freedom to defend themselves as they see fit
* only 1% (100) of those who do the most to defend themselves die, vs 99% (9,900) of those who do the least
B) A society where 1,000 people are killed by guns each year – but each victim is selected randomly and, if selected, is 100% utterly defenseless?
EDITED TO ADD: A key (perhaps *THE* key) question) does your answer depend on the numbers given? Instead of 10,000 vs 1,000; what if it were A=10,000 vs B=9,990 total deaths? Or A=10,000 total deaths vs B=10 total deaths?
I’ll be honest: my answer changes. And what bothers me most about this debate: I suspect this is also true for 99.999% of US citizens… and yet, this argument is *CONSTANTLY* framed as an ideological debate.
Dr. Steven Metz in his recent publication SSI Army War College in leadership notes: Today most people consume information that reflects their preexisting beliefs rather than the authority of the source and its methods of obtaining, selecting, and vetting information. The result is incendiary hyperpartisanship. Most people only consume the information that reflects their ideological predilections without having to consider or grapple with different perspectives, living in what is often labeled an information bubble. Pundits and people who might be called “infotainers” define and shape the political agenda more than elected officials. The result is an unwillingness to compromise or cooperate across partisan boundaries. As a recent Pew study found, “What is striking is how little common ground there is among partisans today.”
snowflakes and individuals like david pig will never have a concept of change only.
This idiot has manufactured a short-barreled rifle, which is illegal and worth ten years in prison.
I believe that by law, it can not be restored to a normal rifle, but must be destroyed.
Will the ATF arrest him? We’ll see.
I repeat… Idiot!
@Kevin Kirkpatrick: #7
Sorry, but I reject your entire premise. History has shown that a free society always has innocent deaths. It’s the cost a society pays for freedom.
The less free, the more deaths, whether the loss of freedom is due to criminal civilians or a repressive government. Your arguments do not apply to historical reality.
My view is that I am not willing to give up my freedoms, even if the price may be my own life. Innocents will die no matter what choice we make, so I choose no tyranny.
We cannot even choose based on your examples, because the results you provide aren’t real.
@Spurwing Plover: #5
Heh-heh. The box my last rifle purchased came in was made of recycled cardboard.
The Bundy Ranch standoff the government trespassed on private property and shot fenced animals trampled rare tortoise nests. Government snipers around the ranch, the federal escalation and threats, is a damn good reason to be armed as well as they are.
The Prosecutor should be disbarred.
@Petercat:
At the very least, they should follow the liberal playbook and charge him and force him to go bankrupt defending himself.
@kitt: If anyone has any property or loved ones they care about, Obama’s use of the BLM should demonstrate to all what can happen when our government is controlled by people who do not respect citizens, the law or the Constitution.
Hey Anti gun wackos Jiminy Cricket can spell your names F.O.O.L. remember that
@Petercat: I’m a DIY kinda guy.
Can you find any nonsense in this one?
Yes indeed. If the shooter were restricted to muzzle loading weapons,
he would do what shooters did back in that day; carry multiple weapons ready to shoot. Or, he would today attack with a machete or ax or knife or hammer.
No, their purpose is to OPPOSE interpretation of the 2nd Amendment that is contrary to its meaning and intent. For instance, if the sole purpose of the 2nd is for individuals to organize as militias, why CAN’T they possess the most formidable firepower available? Their purpose is no longer simple self- or home-defense or sport shooting; it is possible military action.
Still waiting for the “common sense gun control” suggestions that are not gun bans or what, exactly, are the “lax gun laws” that the left is chomping at the bit to correct. What is utter and total nonsense is that the left have no recommendations or suggestions that address any of the actual problems; what you have are knee-jerk reactions which salve your emotions and move forward the liberal disarmament agenda.
@Greg: #17 Yes indeed, he obviously has not practiced or his target would be dead. The Kings army came to disarm the colonists so we shot them with weapons of the same type and technology they had. Men with disputes solved them at 10 paces both armed. Vox …really? No one is forcing any of you to have a weapon, but when in trouble you call someone with a gun.@Deplorable Me: The BLM has been out of control for decades Reagan had the situation calm for a while.
