A gaggle of democrat Senators have called for Donald Trump’s resignation:
These women’s stories, however, were enough to convince Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) that the president needs to step down “immediately.” Should Trump resist those calls, Gillibrand is prepared to call for congressional hearings.
“I think he should immediately resign, and if he doesn’t, we should have the investigation,” she said, calling the allegations “credible.”
Three of her colleagues, Sens. Cory Booker (D-NJ), Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Jeff Merkley (D-OR), agree Trump needs to go. His crimes, they argue, are equal to or worse than those that derailed their colleague Al Franken’s career.
Well, Franken hasn’t exactly resigned. As you may know, this is exactly what I predicted last week:
If you think this is all happening out of the defense of women and their dignity and doing what’s right, you’d be wrong. This is all about taking down Trump. democrats are clearing the decks of baggage so they mount an attack on Moore first, and then climb the ladder to Trump. They are going to sacrifice as many of their tainted own- in safe districts, of course – to allow them to claim the moral authority to demand Trump resign over the claims against him.
The women behind the Trump accusations are being funded by a Soros group, naturally.
Trump’s situation is far different from Franken’s. The referendum on Trump was held last year. Trump’s accusers were in no short supply but nothing was ever proven. Marching them out now is merely a political plot. People knew what was Trump was and them spoke. He persisted. It’s over.
But, if democrats want to continue the shenanigans I have a suggestion of an offer for Republicans to make, but the conditions are hard and inflexible.
One, Bill Clinton must stand trial for the rape of Juanita Broaddrick. He was never held accountable and the accusations of rape (or for his sexual harassment charges) and they were not enough for democrats to call for his resignation and he did not resign. It is time for him to face the consequences of his actions.
Two, Ted Kennedy must stand trial for the death of Mary Jo Kopechne.
These two things must happen before we discuss any possibility of the Trump resignation. The conditions are inflexible.
