Back in July Robert Mueller added Peter Strzok to the team he assembled to investigate the alleged connections between Donald Trump and Russia.
Justice Department Special Counsel Robert Mueller has brought on Peter Strzok, a senior FBI official who oversaw the Hillary Clinton email investigation, to help manage his investigation into Russian election meddling, according to two US officials briefed on the matter.
Strzok helped oversee the beginnings of the Russia probe last summer at the FBI. A spokesman for the special counsel declined to comment.
Strzok joins a team of more than 25 people. That team includes attorneys, FBI employees and support staff, according to Peter Carr, the spokesman for special counsel.
The team has now moved into new office space in southwest DC, about a mile away from Justice Department headquarters. The special counsel’s initial office space lacked secure meeting rooms, known as SCIFs, for reviewing classified materials.
It will prove to be a disastrous move for Mueller and Comey. Strzok had already been one busy boy. Strzok , who was part of the team that interviewed Hillary Clinton, was the person who downshifted the language James Comey was to use when explaining why no charges would be brought against Hillary Clinton.
The FBI agent who was removed from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russia — because he sent anti-Trump messages to a colleague — oversaw the bureau’s interviews with ousted National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, Fox News confirmed on Monday.
Peter Strzok, a former deputy to the assistant director for counterintelligence at the FBI, also was confirmed to have changed former FBI Director James Comey’s early draft language about Hillary Clinton’s actions regarding her private email server from “grossly negligent” to “extremely careless.”
The language being edited was important because classified material that’s been mishandled for “gross negligence” calls for criminal consequences, analysts point out.
In other words, Strzok made sure Hillary wouldn’t face any charges despite her repeated pattern of lying, to which Comey stipulated.
It was discovered that Strzok has a strong anti-Trump bias:
Strzok was removed from his role in the Special Counsel’s Office after it was discovered he had made disparaging comments about President Trump in text messages between him and his alleged lover FBI attorney Lisa Page, according to the New York Times and Washington Post, which first reported the stories. Strzok is also under investigation by the Department of Justice Inspector General for his role in Hillary Clinton’s email server and the ongoing investigation into Russia’s election meddling. On Saturday, the House Intelligence Committee’s Chairman Devin Nunes chided the Justice Department and the FBI for not disclosing why Strzok had been removed from the Special Counsel three months ago, according to a statement given by the Chairman.
It was also Strzok who signed the document opening the Russian meddling probe.
A month after being added to Mueller’s team, Strzok was said to have “stepped away” from the probe:
Peter Strzok, a veteran counterintelligence investigator, is now working for the FBI’s human resources division, according to ABC. It is unclear why he stepped aside, or if he did so voluntarily.
Asha Rangappa, a former FBI counterintelligence agent and associate dean at Yale Law School, said that she had “never heard of an agent being moved to the human resources department.”
“I have seen instances where if some issue comes up, the agent might be moved to another investigation or to the operations center, where you essentially field calls all day,” Rangappa said. “But why he would be moved to HR is just bizarre.”
Rangappa did not want to speculate on what may have happened in Strzok’s case, but said there were many factors — ranging from small administrative violations to more significant incidents — that could raise questions about an agent’s ability to stay on a case.
For several months Devin Nunes sought to know why Strzok was removed and was stonewalled by the FBI.
Curiously, Strzok remained connected to the Trump investigation because it is widely reported that he supervised the interview of Michael Flynn.

One wonders how an agent removed from a case for his political radioactivity was still able to interrogate Flynn in the Mueller investigation. How was that allowed to happen and why? It has been speculated in more than one venue that the Flynn interview was a trap and now that looms larger and larger as a possibility. This is taking on a major stink. Pattern of bias is a too kind description.
Mueller’s got a whole lot of ‘splainin’ to do and it’s time shut this charade down.

This investigation and the team assembled is designed to find some premise on which to impeach Trump. Mueller only reacted to Strzok because it was exposed by the IG and the facade of fairness needs to be maintained.
Team Trump had better pedal faster. Reality is gaining on them.
@Greg: Dont worry reality will never catch you.
Well, I see FA is back.
@Greg:
They are already in reality. No collusion, no illegal activity by the Trump team. THAT’S been the reality from day one. $7 million has been spent to show that. YOU need to revise what YOU are peddling, which is warmed over left wing propaganda. Your failing party needs to figure out how to win an election, not what lies will work to turn over the elections you lose.
@Greg:
Reality is going to crush Mueller and the FBI. Their reputations are shot.
@DrJohn:
Well, the FBI’s reputation is damaged. Mueller’s is confirmed.
@Bill… Deplorable Me:
Yeah, another problem with the server but I think we finally got it figured out.
@Bill… Deplorable Me: Greggie was certain Trump would not win so his credibility is pure crap just like Mueller and his investigation!!
