I apologize for all the error messages the readers and authors are getting. I’m working with the server company to get the issues resolved. I’m not sure if the databases have become so large (well over 14,000 posts and over 300,000 comments) that the server just can’t handle the load anymore or if its a specific design issue. I may have to start with a new company and/or with a fresh blog. The old posts and old comments would then have to be archived. I will keep you updated.

I’ve done some cleaning to the database. Is everyone still having issues?

As you can see the server is still having issues. I’ve installed Disqus as the commenting system to see if this will help with server load. I’kll be importing all the old comments into Disqus soon. Still have not heard back from my server provider. Will update when I do. Bear with me…

I’ve now hired a expert to look at the server and disabled Disqus.

The expert has found the problem and everything should be be better. Please comment either way so I know everything is workng good. The problem was one plugin, the one that showed how many views a post received so that feature is now disabled. I’ll be looking for something else to replace it with soon.
But for now everything is looking good. This cost a bit of cash so if you feel so inclined please leave a few dollar donation via the paypal button to the upper right or buy something from amazon after clicking the amazon ad on the right. Yes, I do have ad’s on the sidebar but I refuse to put up pop-up ads and I’ve received many offers to place them on here but I hate them so will always refuse.

Sheesh. Waddaday.
@Petercat: Yeah, seems like it was a temporary fix. If this keeps up I may have to use a 3rd party commenting system like Disqus. The comment database is massive due to the amount of comments.

It was getting really bad, to the point I was avoiding even coming here.
Just now I used a link to come here are the most recent threads were “The Troll is strong….”
As for the News feed the top story was “No, John Bolton didn’t….”
So it wasn’t updating for hours and hours.
The link and BOLD and Italics and strike and the
shortcuts being gone….is that a feature, not a bug?
The fact that after you read your way down to the bottom of the page you have to scroll back up because the link to HOME at the bottom is gone, is that also permanent?
I am glad to see these error messages are getting some attention.
I was getting one every other time I tried to come here or to click on anything here for quite a while now.

I see tremendous improvement, Curt.
One thing I’d like returned is the LINK feature.
I have not learned how to do it.
and I think it is helpful to be able to highlight a quote with the link right in the words.
But, if that is the sort of thing that was messing up the site, I guess it is worth it to show links the long way.

Sorry, had to take it down. Was causing database spikes. Moving to a more powerful server soon and then I’ll install it as well as the pageviews
Curt, you probably already noticed this new glitch:
When you 1st go to the FA homepage, you get an OLDER version, some newer articles are missing;
many of the numbers of comments are lower than the reality.
Like, I clicked on the Caption This which said it had 4 comments.
Actually, there were a few more than that.
Sometimes refreshing the FA page helps, other times not.
I, too, am only getting access to older (Dec 16 the latest) articles, though I can see later comments.
