Barack Obama has banned pork from Federal prisons:
The nation’s pork producers are in an uproar after the federal government abruptly removed bacon, pork chops, pork links, ham and all other pig products from the national menu for 206,000 federal inmates.
The ban started with the new fiscal year last week.
Why?
The Bureau of Prisons, which is responsible for running 122 federal penitentiaries and feeding their inmates three meals a day, said the decision was based on a survey of prisoners’ food preferences:
They just don’t like the taste of pork.
Sure. Prison bureau spokesman Edmond Ross said pork was becoming more expensive, “although he did not provide specifics.”
Uh huh.
It’s probably the Jews:
Observant Muslims and Jews are forbidden to eat pork, and the prison system has long made accommodations for them by providing alternatives to pork and halal and kosher foods. Ross declined to say whether there has been an increase in Muslim or Jewish inmates in recent years and whether that may have factored into the survey responses.
CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper lets the pig out of the bag:
“In general we welcome the change because it’s facilitating the accommodation of Muslim inmates,” said Ibrahim Hooper, a spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the country’s largest Muslim civil rights advocacy group. “We hope it’s not an indication of an increasing number of Muslims in the prison system.”
Then you know it is. Prisons have become breeding grounds for Islamic jihad recruits:

Some studies suggest that as much as 20% of the U.S. prison population is turning to Islam.
Inmates are an ideal candidate for Islamic conversion. Al-Qaeda training manuals discovered in Europe encourage the recruitment of prisoners and recommend playing on the inmate’s anger and frustration with the non-Islamic society. Imams are counseling prisoners to accept the teachings of Islam and the rehabilitative cleansing it can provide. With Islamic conversion the prisoner is freed of his transgressions and finds a new self.
Muslims have become a “very significant” portion of the prison population. The growth of prison-radicalized Muslims continues unabated:
The statistics are staggering, and woefully out of date. One out of three African-American inmates in U.S. prisons convert to Islam while incarcerated.
This statistic is no longer limited to African-Americans in prison. The Huffington Post reported an estimated 35,000 – 40,000 inmates convert to Islam each year, and that 15 percent of the total U.S. prison population or 350,000 inmates are Muslim.
This is more than 18 times the national representation of Muslims in America, reported to be 0.8 percent. Prisons are churning out converts to Islam who are taught they are righteously entitled to control the religion, speech, and dress of family, co-workers and strangers.
The country is being invaded from within as well as from without. It’s bad enough that Obama kowtows to Islam everywhere, but it is pathetic to kowtow to the Muslim prison population and it is an indicator of a growing danger to America. The Washington Post thinks it’s great that there’s a burgeoning growth in radical Islamists in US prisons.

Which is cheaper:
a) maintaining segregated food storage, preparation, and serving operations to prevent pork products from cross-contaminating the regular facilities, and constantly defending the Bureau of Prisons from civil rights complaints of litigious prisoners; or
b) simply eliminating pork from prison menus
Obviously, this is a rhetorical test–one you may fail if you lack the capacity for reason, or are suffering from Obama Derangement Syndrome.

Apparently, if you are an inmate with money, you can BUY your own ham, bacon, sausages, and pork.
But the economic excuse for getting pork out of the prison diet is bogus.
Pound-for-pound beef is MUCH more expensive than pork.
Chicken is the cheapest.
Certain times of the year ham can be less than $0.70/pound…..the cheapest meat on the market.
Turkey can be really cheap certain times, too.
So, the economic excuse is cover for pleasing Muslim prisoners.
You seem to forget that there is also a significant percentage of inmates that are jewisdh In fact there is one Federal prison Otisville NY that has a Kosher kitchen and the number of Jews is certainly fewer than the number of muslims.@mos 8541:

None of the muslim prisoners we captured during Operations Desert Storm , Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom gave a damn whether the food we gave them to eat had pork in it, because they ate it all. I don’t give a damn about their food preferences while they are in prison. If they don’t eat, they can starve.

Agreed. One menu, take it or leave it, consisting of whatever was cheapest at the time of purchase while still meeting nutritional guidelines.
Maybe blend it all- dinner, dessert, whatever- into one loaf so that no one could know what’s in it.
If you don’t like the menu, don’t do the crime.
Maybe then Muslim leaders would tell their followers, “You can’t eat pork, so don’t do anything which might get you jailed.”
Prison is supposed to be punishment, not a catering service.
What’s next? Repositioning prison toilets so that they don’t face towards Mecca?

Well, if this is the reason they are doing it, it’ll be struck down long before it hits SCOTUS. The feds cannot favor one religion over another. That’s the true meaning of the religion clause in the first amendment. Not no religion, just no federally sponsored or favored religion.

This is blatent violation of separation of church and state or Mosque and state and should be challenged in the courts. Barack is accommodating one religion (cult) over the others. That is unconstitutional.
All I am asking is for the truth. I can’t find any source taking responsibility for this decision. Very convenient to blame Obama and/or the Muslims. Not a fan of either, but I find this entire thing very politically suspicious.
It could have something to do with “pink slime” which is making a comeback as a beef additive. For some (???) reason the USDA had approved it as an additive without being labeled. With the controversy generated ABC investigative reporting all plants were closed down due to the public outcry. Now at least one plant has reopened. Maybe Obama’s USDA feels it owes the finely textured beef product cartel something and are using it in federal prisons. Meanwile I am going to read the fine print on the beef products I purchase.
