De Blasio: there is great wisdom in some of his words and yet none in him

Bill de Blasio is the Mayor of New York. He is an avowed left wing anti-establishment liberal. He is also a disgrace. De Blasio met with the family of Akai Gurley after he was shot by a rookie cop in New York, but he has not met with the families of the cops executed on Saturday.

BTW, has Al Sharpton visited the families of the fallen policemen? What about their rights?

De Blasio, as did Obama and Holder, has been perpetuating a lie. In the process he painted all New York police with the racist brush.

“We’re not just dealing with a problem in 2014. We’re not just dealing with years of racism leading up to it or decades of racism. We are dealing with centuries of racism that have brought us to this day. That is how profound the crisis is.”

Then he uttered some words that really were great advice but he smothered them in self-serving liberal tripe. De Blasio spoke about his dark skinned son and the advice he and wife offered him:

“Are you really worried that your son is at risk from your own police department?” was the question This Week host George Stephanopoulos posed to Gotham Mayor Bill de Blasio Sunday morning, after de Blasio’s comments following the Eric Garner grand jury decision got him in hot water with the police union.

“Look, I want to say it the right way,” de Blasio said on ABC. “What parents have done for decades who have children of color, especially young men of color, is train them to be very careful when they have an encounter with a police officer. It’s different for a white child. That’s just the reality of this country. With Dante very early on we said, ‘Look, if a police officer stops you, do everything he tells you to do. Don’t move suddenly, don’t reach for your cell phone.’ Because we knew, sadly, there was a greater chance it might be misinterpreted if he’s a young man of color.”

“What we’re striving toward is a day when every child can be told equally that not only are the police there to protect you, but they’re going to assume that the young person is an innocent, law-abiding person. That’s just not always the reality today.”

Let me emphasize this:

‘Look, if a police officer stops you, do everything he tells you to do. Don’t move suddenly, don’t reach for your cell phone.’

YES YES YES!

The thing is, this is the same advice I gave to kids as they grew up. There is NOTHING racial in this at all. It is exactly what kids- or anyone- should do.

Anyone!

Had Eric Garner and Michael Brown done as De Blasio recommends they would be alive today.

Bill Clinton said that Eric Garner did not deserve to die. The NYPD did not deserve to have Garner resist arrest either. Have you heard Clinton said that Ramos and Wenjian didn’t deserve to die?

Howard Safir, the former police chief of New York, observed something that is undeniable:

Michael Brown and Eric Garner died resisting arrest. Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu died doing their job. It is a very important distinction. Michael Brown and Eric Garner were committing crimes. Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu were protecting all the citizens of New York City.

The left continues to do nothing but deflect from this underlying truth. Eric Garner’s death was not a racial event. It was a criminal event. Unfortunately, the abrogation of personal responsibility is axiomatic in liberals.

It’s always someone else’s fault.

Bill De Blasio has the answer to all of this and it came right out of his mouth. Yet he still doesn’t get it. Or he doesn’t want to.

Because of his derision of the police in New York, the police turned their backs on him.

De Blasio reacted angrily:

“It’s unfortunate that in a time of great tragedy, some would resort to irresponsible, overheated rhetoric that angers and divides people,” de Blasio spokesman Marti Adams said in a statement following the union leaders’ remarks.

Overheated rhetoric that angers and divides people? Seriously?

Have you heard about the ten foot wall that De Blasio had erected around Gracie Mansion?

De Blasio is a coward as well as a jerk.

Barack Obama is busy and the top law enforcement official in the land is nowhere to be found.
