Happy Valentines Day to those who preserve our freedom!
A former fetus, the “wordsmith from nantucket” was born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1968. Adopted at birth, wordsmith grew up a military brat. He achieved his B.A. in English from the University of California, Los Angeles (graduating in the top 97% of his class), where he also competed rings for the UCLA mens gymnastics team. The events of 9/11 woke him from his political slumber and malaise. Currently a personal trainer and gymnastics coach.
The wordsmith has never been to Nantucket.
Actually, it’s SAINT Valentine’s Day.
@retire05:
Hope everyone at FA has a bang-up holiday!
As the World War II song says, “Praise the Lord, and pass the ammunition.”
Been a while. Still read almost daily.

That’s an American Thinker article, entitled “And They Call Me Hater.”
It is also the best essay I’ve read yet this year, and should be made to “go viral”.
WARNING: STRONG-STOMACH USE OF LANGUAGE.

Responding to the article you linked to, I have to jump in on it. In case you didn’t know, I don’t belong to any political party or any religion. I don’t consider myself an atheist, but I’m not a believer either.
Only religions seem to be against gays. I have asked this question before: If the Christian religion should be used to decide American laws because it is the biggest religion here, does that mean that in the future if the Muslim religion is the biggest religion here, we should use their laws to decide American laws? Maybe we should take the best of each religion and use them.
The U. S. Constitution says that the USA can’t establish a religion. This means that it can’t start a religion, or pick a religion to decide our laws. We need to go ONLY by what is in the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and congressionally passed laws. There is no law against being BORN gay, or being BORN half boy and half girl, or any other types of gender. Nobody gets to choose their gender at birth. Did you get to CHOOSE yours? I’m straight, but there was no point in my life where I chose to be.
I use the example of the thousands of babies who are born each year who are both boy and girl. They have all of the parts of both, and their brain does to. The doctor asks the parents which one they want, and the doctor makes it so, ON THE OUTSIDE. The doctor can’t change the INSIDE. The inside is still half-and-half. A doctor told me this is where the transvestites come from. They have the feelings of a man and a woman. It is obvious that they didn’t CHOOSE to have all of the body parts of both a man and a woman, so why are we condemning them for being born a gender they didn’t get to pick, jus like you didn’t get to pick yours.
If being gay is a CHOICE, then being straight has to be a CHOICE also. You can’t have one a choice and one natural. For those who believe that, at what age were you when you CHOSE to be straight? Why would anyone CHOOSE a gender they know will lead to them being frowned on by most of society, and possibly being ridiculed, and possibly being beaten, and possibly being killed, just for being gay? I wondered about this question for many years. I finally figured out that NOBODY gets to choose their gender at birth. WE ARE BORN THE WAY WE ARE.
I chuckled when I saw the picture you chose to celebrate Valentine’s Day. The day happens to be my wife’s and my anniversary. This year it’s our 44th. We thoroughly enjoyed spending the day at the range with a half-dozen of our favorite handguns.
