While Scandals Grow, Immigration Bill Coasts Under Radar

“After today’s committee meeting there is no remaining dispute that the Gang of Eight’s proposal represents a staggering increase in the future flow of immigration — even as polling shows a majority of Americans believe current levels should be reduced,” Sessions said. “At a time when a record number of Americans are on welfare and have dropped out of the work force, our focus should instead be on helping struggling Americans return to the work force.”

Sessions and other conservatives are gearing up for what could be a protracted fight. On Tuesday, six House members declared their intention to mobilize against the legislation, maintaining that providing a pathway to citizenship for the estimated 11 million immigrants in the country illegally makes a mockery of the rule of law.

“When we ignore the rule of law we become like the country many immigrants are fleeing,” said Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas). “It leads to chaos. Ignore it and you disintegrate into the same type of chaos from which these people came.”

House group agrees on immigration reform

WASHINGTON (CNN) –

After months of intense negotiations, a bipartisan U.S. House group has reached an “agreement in principle” on immigration reform, according to Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart of Florida, one of the GOP members of the group.

A Democratic aide familiar with the discussions confirmed that all the members signed on and told CNN both Democrats and Republicans “will now run the whole package past their respective leadership and colleagues” and aim to formally introduce legislation at the beginning of June.

Diaz-Balart declined to get into the details of the deal, but said, “there’s going to be a lot of differences in a lot of areas,” from a bipartisan measure working its way through the Senate.

While the scandals are very important, we can not be so irate about them that we drop our vigilance and these progressive Dem/RINO designed bills to slip through Congress like thieves in the night.

Do you hear that cracking sound?

That is the backbone of America breaking from the strain of millions more people about to be added to the Federal giveaway rolls. Great.

The House has all the ammo it needs to bury this bill,with all thats coming out they have a way out.That being said Lindsey Grahamnesty makes me want to puke,I’m still having a hard time wondering why my state elected this clown.

Funny the feds caused the problem with the illegals in the first place by not enforcing the current laws on the books,and now they want to fix the problem they created by making it worse.

Yeah government is broken…

The Senate immigration reform bill could allow illegal immigrant criminals and gang members to become legal residents. While it stipulates that these individuals shall not be allowed admission to country, and those already living here would be ineligible to receive legal status, (non-convict gang members) could still achieve legal status if the DHS secretary grants them a waiver. All they have to do is “renounce” their gang affiliation.

How Criminal-Gang Members Can Get Amnesty

Chris Crane, who heads the union representing more than 7,000 Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, says the bill’s policy with respect to gang members is “one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard.”

“The idea that we’re going to give known gang members the opportunity to renounce their gang affiliation — and believe them — and then give them legal status in our country, is outrageous,” he tells National Review Online.

ICE agents in the field routinely confront illegal immigrants who are known members of gangs, Crane says, but the Obama administration’s new immigration policies have made it all but impossible to initiate deportation proceedings against them, even if they have been arrested on criminal charges. Since June 2012, DHS policy has prohibited agents from trying to deport illegal immigrants who might qualify for the administration’s “deferred action” DREAM program — individuals who were brought here illegally as children, who are currently enrolled in school or are a member of the military, and who have not been convicted of a serious crime.

Crane says the new policy is routinely abused. If an illegal immigrant claims deferred-action status — even if they are a known gang member or have just been arrested on criminal charges — ICE agents are not allowed to initiate deportation proceedings against these immigrants; agents must “take them at their word,” and release them without charge. “We’re forced to let these guys walk,” he says. “We’re restricted from enforcing the law.”

@Ditto:

if the DHS secretary grants them a waiver.

This seems to be a recurring theme in laws that are passed in this country. I’m not clear when granting “exemptions” or “waivers” started becoming commonplace, but I’d imagine that it started becoming a heavily used tool in legislation sometime in the 30’s.

And it is all part of the ‘politics of pull’, where it’s not so much merit that a law is applied or not, but who you know and how “well” you know that person or persons. The ‘politics of pull’ is nothing but ‘rule by men’, where the law itself is a secondary consideration on legality or illegality, and the “rule of law” becomes non-existent.

Consider some of the latest law offerings, such as Obamacare, where “waivers” are granted for people and groups to not participate in the law. And it is especially sinister when the groups receiving those “waivers” seem to be part of one political ideology in power currently.

Then consider the IRS scandal where the law is not equally applied across the board, essentially giving certain groups and people “exemptions” preferentially over others.

I think the most obvious thing that should be done to end this once and for all is

Annex Mexico.

This will add 31 States (Mexican provinces ) to the US.

This would also make all ‘illegal’ from Mexico – citizens automatically as they were citizens of the country – mexico

@John Hardesty:

It would also decrease the size of the southern border. Not that the federal government would do much to secure that one either.

THEY did let them loose to be incognito in the crowd, those many illegals had crime story,
what is next in scandals coming,
they follow each other like a venomous SNAKE
out to kill
