Today, I had an opportunity to hang out with Zeke again. To say that these therapy dogs are a gift from heaven would be an understatement. It’s amazing what a mere animal can do for troops in a combat zone. Everything else disappears except that big, black furball of love.
Anyway, because Zeke does so much for our troops, I was wondering if I could ask a favor. I’d like to show SFC Zeke my appreciation and give him a nice care package. Unfortunately, they don’t sell dog toys here. His handler told me that he would prefer that I don’t give him treats since he gained too much weight on his last deployment. They are closely monitoring his diet.
If anyone is willing, I’d like to collect some doggie toys for him. He loves tug-o-war ropes, plastic bones, tupperware toys, squeakie toys, and any other type of toys that dogs like. Perhaps a frisbee or two for exercise. If you’d like to send me something for Zeke, please email me for the address and thank you in advance.
