Sometimes it just seems as though Barack Obama is intent on destroying the United States of America.
Nancy Pelosi said that Obamacare would result in the creation of 4 million new jobs, with 400,000 of them appearing almost instantly. In contrast, the CBO disclosed that implementation of Obamacare would result in a reduction of 800,000 jobs by 2021.
Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK) of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee filed a report which reveals that more than 800,000 jobs are at risk consequent to the new EPA regulations. Among the effects are
* New standards for commercial and industrial boilers: up to 798,250 jobs at risk;
* The revised National Ambient Air Quality Standard for ozone: severe restrictions on job creation and business expansion in hundreds of counties nationwide.
* New standards for Portland Cement plants: up to 18 cement plants at risk of shutting down, threatening nearly 1,800 direct jobs and 9,000 indirect jobs;
* The Endangerment Finding/Tailoring Rules for Greenhouse Gas Emissions: higher energy costs; jobs moving overseas; severe economic impacts on the poor, the elderly, minorities, and those on fixed incomes; 6.1 million sources subject to EPA control and regulation; and
The new Obama regulations will result in more jobs being sent overseas as domestic factories are forced to close.
Professor Ragnar Lofstedt, Kings College (London):
“So rather than importing 20 million tons of cement per year, the proposed [rule] will lead to cement imports of more than 48 million tons per year. In other words, by tightening the regulations on U.S. cement kilns, there will be a risk transfer of some 28 million tons of cement offshore, mostly to China.”
Ironically, the new regulations will strangle even green jobs.
Just a few short months before a contentious election that has many Democrats fighting for survival, the EPA made final a job-killing mandate that will stall development of biomass energy plants from coast to coast. Under the EPA’s scheme, carbon-neutral power generated by sawdust, wood chips and other forestry byproducts will be subjected to the same costly permits and red tape as the country’s oldest coal-burning factories…Maine’s forestry industry, which depends on biomass power production, employs 51,600 people and pumps $1.5 billion into local economies. Plus, more than 21,000 homes in the state get their power from 30 renewable biomass energy producers.
Einstein said that “The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits.”
One person who proves stupidity has no limits (besides Director of National Intelligence James Clapper) is Rep. Ed Markey (D-MA). Markey asserted that limiting EPA regulations would empower Al Qaida by making us more dependent on foreign oil.
It’s hard to know exactly what is Markey’s brain, if anything.
As far as empowering Al Qaida goes, Barack Obama is the one who promised to eviscerate the defenses of the United States.
It is Barack Obama who is making the US more dependent on foreign oil. Our energy needs are not diminishing, but Obama keeps shutting off our ability to obtain our own oil. He largely put an end to new drilling for oil and promised to make our electricity rates “skyrocket” while bankrupting the coal industry.
It is Barack Obama who is empowering Al Qaida.
Each new crusade Barack Obama embarks upon is one which does not seek to make the US more secure, it makes the US less secure. It does not make us less dependent on oil, but rather more dependent on oil. It does not allow for more jobs, but rather is destructive of jobs and the useful idiots of the Democratic party are only too happy to see this country slide into ruin.
