Much as been written on this site and others all across the broad expanse of the Internet about the fantastic men and women who serve our country in uniform around the world in our current conflicts as well as in past conflicts. We owe a remarkable debt to all of our veterans.
Some of us fly our flags or display yellow ribbons or hold rallies to support our troops. Others send care packages or letters or other items to the troops on the front. Some of us go up to soldiers in uniform when we see them and shake their hands, look them in the eye, and say “Thank You.”
Some stories are recorded for posterity and gain recognition around the country and even beyond our borders. Other efforts, while no less significant, just don’t seem to gain the attention of anyone beyond the direct recipient.
The Way We Get By is a film about three senior citizens, Bill Knight, Joan Gaudet, and Jerry Mundy, from Maine and what they have done for our troops.
Since March 2003, nearly one million soldiers and marines from across the country have been greeted at the Bangor International Airport. With each flight, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, these volunteers have been there to send them off and welcome them home.
The trailer is below the fold and watching it will be the best two minutes you have spent on the Internet today.

It *is* the best two minutes today, Aye… and most likely will be the best two minutes for a long time to come. Thanks for the heads up on the film.
I wasn’t gonna come to the site anymore, but decided to lurk tonight. I’m glad I did. Thanks for posting this, I look forward to seeing it.
I will never forget these people. We were coming home from Somolia to hop on the 31st MEU.
5AMish in the morning, bitter cold, blizzard snow conditions. But there they were, with smiles and cookies, welcoming us back to America.
Bravo Zulu, Bangor. And Semper Fi. You will never be forgotten.
