So what happens in a modern Tea Party? Do you throw crates of tea into a nearby dock or river? Or do you sit around, drink the tea and make pleasant conversation? I couldn’t see much tea in the video.

Isn’t Tea Party connected with the imposition of unfair taxes rather than complaining about stimulus packages? Maybe need a Pork Party? Of course with Bush & Obama stimulus packages – middle america is going have to pick up the bill.

And what’s with the ‘Welcome to France’ placard? Didn’t the French help you during the War of Independence? Maybe a Freedom Fries Party?

Liked the ‘Taxation with Representation ain’t so hot either’ placard though:)

The modern concept of Tea Party means we wish we were back to spending hundreds of billions rebuilding Iraq’s economy instead of our own citizens economy. Like it was in the good old days, when Haliburton and Blackwater could squander Billions of taxpayers dollars and nobody was in an uproar about it. When all the costs of the war and any natural disasters like floods and hurricanes were not officially part of the budget the people could see. Back when expanded health care for poor kids could be vetoed in spite of being passed by the House and Senate, because it would be a stepping stone to more undeserved healthcare benifits for those who cant afford this undeserved luxury. Back then, Soldiers could go to any scrap yard in Iraq to find the thick metal needed to weld to the bottom of their Humvees to protect against road side bombs. Moms and Dads could reach into their own pockets to buy and send protective helmets and bullet proof vests to their kids risking their lives for their country. Back when the Pentagon budget was a cool 3.2 TRILLION in 2008, and again, nobody was in a tizzy and America NEVER TALKED ABOUT NO DAMN SOCIALISM.

Now we have a Socialist in office who wants to focus on America instead of the overseas Empire we have such a financial stake in, (not even to mention over 4000 American lives). With this kind of investment already spent, how dare he just turn his back on it? He wants to rebuild the Economy he says, basically from scratch, since we don’t produce anything anymore. He wants to address health care costs that he says are crippling Employers and workers, if they have it at all. He says our education system needs an overhaul, and says we need to invest in educating our kids better. And the new President wants to SPEND MONEY on it. Money we don’t have. Turn his back on all the spending to keep good paying Military contractor jobs going and focus on America and getting jobs and other stuff going. He wants to make the tax structure more balanced he says, and only give tax cuts to people who are not smart and hard working enough to make over $250,000 a year.

And get this: HE WANTS TO TAX RICH PEOPLE 3% more THAN THEY ARE PAYING NOW!! This is why we need the Tea Party, even if you don’t make much money. It is not fair to lower my taxes and raise taxes on rich people. Rich people do everything for me, provide my job, the money just trickles down right into my pocket. If we raise their taxes, they will still have money, and they earned and deserve it, but, they might get upset. This will cause them to hold onto their money, instead of investing it, then if they don’t invvest it because they are upset, the money will no longer trickle down into my wallet. We need to get back to the good old days when we spent taxpayer money on Iraq and we WERE HAPPY ABOUT IT!

We need to get back to the days when the middle class in America was not such a big Whoop tee Doo. When open border allowed folks to come north and work for such low pay that it drops the pay of many already low wage earners. When these illegals could undercut any small construction company’s bid and take more work away from your sons and daughters. You sure didn’t hear about no Tea Parties for the last 8 years while this was happening, not until we got this Socialist, Pallin’ around with terrorists, wealth redistributer who thinks he can just waltz right into the White House and focus on what he call’s “problem” in this country. So everybody should go to the big Tea Party. Lets get all worked up, lot of things goin’ on we don’t like and we won’t recognize this country pretty soon, It won’t be like the last 16 years if the Socialist gets his way. No Sir, and mostly, we need the Tea Party because we lost the election and we need to let everyone know we aren’t happy with it. Oh, by the way, we won’t be offering any solutions to the problems we are Tea Partying about, we mostly just try to poke holes in the boat we are all in together and hope it sinks so we can say we knew this socialist guy in the White House was a bad idea.

Thank You

Say to the nations far and wide: ‘Get ready for war! Call out your best warriors! Let all your fighting men advance for the attack! Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears. Train even your weaklings to be warriors. Come quickly, all you nations everywhere! Gather together in the valley.’ And now, O Lord, call out your warriors! ‘Let the nations be called to arms. Let them march to the valley of Jehoshaphat. There I, the Lord, will sit to pronounce judgment on them all. Now let the sickle do its work, for the harvest is ripe. Come, tread the winepress because it is full. The storage vats are overflowing with the wickedness of these people.’” Joel 3:9-13

Wish I could be there.

Does anyone have a link to a vid that will actually show the total amount of people that were there. I know that Joe the Plumber and Michelle were big draws. We are currently spending 80 dollars per person 500 dollars per family per month in Afghanistan. We just got through spending 20,000 per person on our good friends in Iraq. i would rather spend money on my fellow citizens and my own country.

Yes, we spend money to give freedom and liberty to Afghanistan and Iraq, then turn around, bankrupt our country and take our freedom and liberty away. Certainly on the right track aren’t we.

My, my, my. Jack Cafferty chimes in on the tea parties:

This used to be the country where each succeeding generation could look forward to a better quality of life than their parents enjoyed.

In the meantime, as the federal government continues to print money that isn’t worth the paper it’s written on and as our national debt soars past $11 trillion, a United Nations panel is set to recommend that the world ditch the U.S. dollar as its reserve currency in favor of a shared basket of currencies.

One of the enduring strengths of the dollar has been that it has always been the currency of choice in times of crisis. But that’s not the case anymore. Our ballooning deficits have driven down the value of the dollar so much that the Chinese government recently asked for guarantees from Washington that the Treasury bills they own are safe.

All of this isn’t lost on the average American. Last week there were protests and demonstrations by taxpayers in cities all around the country who are beginning to object in increasing numbers to *runaway government spending, taxes, bailouts and our growing national debt.* These protests were called tea parties. Has a familiar ring to it, doesn’t it?

Mr UK,

Let me explain,

The “Tea Party” concept isn’t about tea taxes, it’s about the government run amuck with its fiscal policies. Policies that are transforming America into a group of Socialist-lite, wannabes. Policies that are way out of touch, over-reaching and turning citizens into serfs.

As to the comment about the France sign (“Welcome to France”), yes, France (along with Spain and the Dutch) were key allies to the Continental Army. Please remember we bailed them out in WW1 and WW2 so the “debt got paid in the Ardennes, Belleau Wood & Normandy”. In a few short years after the Revoluntionary War, France crumbled into a nasty revolution of its own where the top rebells, who promised liberty, equal shares and freedom, instead perverted the cause and went on a killing spree. Tens of thousands of citizens, members of the church or ANYONE considered a threat were butchered. The prefered methods were either the guillotine or drowning (aka: “French baptism” where men/women/children were tied to barges, the water plugs pulled, and the barge allowed to sink).

The revolution “ate its own children” and fell apon itself leading to Napoleon, reprisals, and a return of a vindictive royalty. After the 1820’s, it was all down hill for the French. It was a slow-drip fall from grace. Socialism got a grip in the early 1900’s and hasn’t left. Now, circa 2009, France stuggles with the BS of 35 hour work weeks, socialized medicine (most citizens have to carry private insurance to compensate for the gaps in socialized medicine….and that isn’t cheap). Immigration from Sahara Arabs, who haven’t assimilated into French culture, has only made matters worse. Nothing seems to work unless you go through massive amounts of bureaucracy, taxes and enviro regulations. Goverment subsitites and favoritism of key businesses, makes business relations spotty at best. Put bluntly, the French model DOES NOT WORK and can’t work on its own if faced with competition.

The French seem to be on the forefront of appeasement when it comes to dicators. The secret oil deals between euro businesses and Saddam, the French building of a nuclear reactor in Iraq and the inability to project any kind of military power in UN/NATO missions only hightens the point that France is no longer a player on the world market except for secret deals and backstabbing.

So, to answer your question, I can understand the sign “Welcome to France”….it’s a way of saying what we’re turning into.

@Timothy

Fair enough – poking fun at the French is the most fun to be had:)
I think Sarkozy has his work cut out – far more than Thatcher had on her plate trying to turn around the UK after decades of failed socialism which turned the country into the sick man of Europe a the end of the 197-s. I think the French are too entrenched with their socialism to give it up. Just look at the way they try to protect their language by regulation etc. Better to be a mongrel like the English language and let it out there and develop naturally. The British did have an entrepreneural spirit during it’s Empire days which still partially exists. But I don’t see the US entering a Revolution anytime soon. And I don’t think the French or the British are really world players anymore – just old colonial ex-powers still looking for new roles on the sidelines. Unfortunately the best hope for them is via Europe which is a bastion of socialism and bureaucracy.
