The Coming Green Tsunami [Reader Post]

As a record breaking cold front envelops the United States, another front is picking up steam in Washington D.C. The ‘global warming’ front.

Despite the record-breaking extreme cold that is freezing the Midwest and dropping temperatures close to 50 below in spots, the incoming Obama administration continues to appoint, enlist and enable global warming warriors in the highest echelons of government.

In opening remarks at her confirmation hearing for Secretary of State on Tuesday, Hillary promised that she would shape foreign policy that would fight climate change. “At the extreme it threatens our very existence. But well before that point, it could well incite new wars of an old kind over basic resources – like food, water and arable land.”

Like her long time colleague Rahm Emanuel, Hillary knows how to make the most of a crisis, either real or manufactured. With her old slogan ‘for the children’ worn from overuse, Hillary has jumped aboard the global warming bandwagon, astutely recognizing that labeling an issue or policy ‘green’ will virtually ensure speedy passage and unlimited funding.

Ditto for the nominations of Lisa Jackson to be administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency and Nancy Sutley to be chairman of the Council on Environmental Quality. Jackson tells the committee that cutting emissions of toxic chemicals and pollution that contribute to global warming will be among the new administration’s top environmental goals.

Steven Chu, President-elect Barack Obama’s pick to be U.S. energy secretary, said Tuesday that he will tackle the threat of global warming by seeking a cap-and-trade system to cut greenhouse gas emissions, which would require power plants, oil refineries and other industrial facilities to buy and sell pollution permits to spew global warming emissions. Translation: redistribution of wealth from wealthy countries to poor countries.

Even GOP Governors have signed on to the green agenda, urging their congressional colleagues to start the new Congress with unprecedented dedication to addressing global warming.

The green tsunami is about to sweep America. The chairman of a key committee promises to move “quickly and decisively” to push legislation curbing greenhouse gases with a goal of passing climate legislation out of his committee before Memorial Day.”

Bureaucrats at the EPA are chomping at the bit, eagerly paving the way for more regulation over ever increasing segments of the economy by seeking to have water vapor classified as a pollutant. This would result in government control over such common activities as watering the lawn, or using a hot tub or swimming pool. Even breathing.

Imagine, the government could soon regulate any conceivable activity under the rubric of either harming the environment or endangering national security.

Taking a cue from the Feds, cities across the nation are eagerly anticipating the imminent green tsunami, with Madison, Wisconsin leading the pack. Currently under consideration in Madison, are new zoning regulations – needed to fight climate change, doncha know.

These onerous new restrictions include limiting waterfront development in the name of water sustainability, limiting fast food restaurants in the name of public health and limiting private parking option, in favor of public transportation. Virtually anything may now be ‘eliminated’ under the heading of saving the earth. And the public is buying it.

If news doesn’t fit the new green template, its simply not reported by the American media. Like the news that a large and compelling body of evidence from within the field of climate science suggests that the earth is now on the brink of entering another Ice Age.

Or the Belfast Environmental Minister, who recently stated flatly that “Spending billions on trying to reduce carbon emissions is one giant con that is depriving third world countries of vital funds to tackle famine, HIV and other diseases”

Or President Vaclav Klaus of the Czech Republic, the European Union’s new figurehead, who believes that climate change is a dangerous myth and has compared the EU to a Communist state. Just so.

Also swept under the rug is the credible and serious challenge from over 650 dissenting scientists from around the globe who are criticizing the climate claims made by the UN International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and former Vice President Al Gore.

Three years ago, it was estimated that, if passed, the Kyoto Treaty would cost every American app $7,500.00, one of the reasons it wasn’t even considered by the Senate. The present day costs involved to fight this imaginary foe are quadrupling as we speak. What do we get for this money? We’ll never know, as the results and/or outcomes are impossible to calculate. Can you spell unaccountable?

The subject of global warming is a complicated one, with valid arguments on both sides. It should be cause for alarm, however, that the government, the media, academia and world elites are all speaking in one voice, with no dissenting viewpoints allowed.

Another cause for alarm is the fact that all the proposed solutions to this faux crisis just happen to coincide with every issue dear to liberals: i.e.: more government, more regulation, wealth distribution, population control, and global governance.

The ‘global warming crisis’, as it is being used today, is the perfect vehicle to impose Soro’s goal of a one world government. Virtually any liberal policy may now be enacted, in the name of Mother Earth. And unless someone starts fighting back, America may very well end up as green toast.

This “climate change” hoax is the most brilliantly insane thing I ‘ve ever witnessed. It proves many axioms that we’ve taken for granted, such as “If a lie is repeated often enough, it eventally becomes the truth”, and puts them into practice in a worldwide effort to fool us into accepting a premise, that, absent the constant media repetition, would merely be laughed at.
Think of it. Take a phenomenon that occurs naturally (normal variations in weather and temperature) over which no one has any control, and make it appear that it’s caused by the everyday actions of everyone innocently going about their lives.
The scary part of this is the psychological aspect. What we’re seeing is mass hypnosis, bordering on brainwashing. Think about how fervently the believers embrace what they are being told, to the point of irrationality in refusing to even consider an alternate viewpoint. Such blind obedience to “authority” is the goal, and among the gullible, it’s working quite well. Need proof? Psychologists are now treating a disorder called “eco-anxiety”.
Doubting the AGW movement, regardless of how much you hear about it, is a good thing. It means you haven’t fallen victim to the unrelenting pressure being put upon you to “conform” to a lie. Stay strong, for now we have a method by which we can recognize those who can think for themselves, versus those who cannot, or will not: if the topic of any conversation turns to AGW, be aware of those who express a belief in it. You are dealing with someone who is dangerously deluded and needs to be awakened to the truth.

Backwards,
Along with the concept of global warming there has been a successful effort to remove God from the public square. Environmentalism is the new ‘religion’. Easier to understand how one can believe, if they consider it ‘faith’.
It’s the new secular religion. Very scary

Nancy,
Spot on! I purposely left out the religious aspect of my observation, didn’t want to anger the atheists, dontcha’ know. But, yes, the belief in AGW very closely mimics honest religion in ways that others have explored in great depth. All of the aspects are there: sin (pollution), guilt, preachers (Al Gore), heretics (Vaclav Klaus), atonement (recycling), redemption (join Greenpeace) and even tithing (evironmental fees). Except you’re worshipping a false god, Gaia.
I wonder if the religious similarities of the AGW movement have anything in common with Wiccans. While I admit ignorance of their ways (on pupose, due to my greater interest in Christianity), maybe some research on my part could confirm this.
I agree with you, this is scary stuff. Another old axiom that’s being proven is: “If you don’t believe in God, you’ll believe in anything”.

BB

“If you don’t believe in God, you’ll believe in anything”

Wasn’t it Rush Limbaugh who came up with the illogical comment?

I don’t believe in God – but I also don’t believe in fairies, the Loch Ness Monster, mermaids, vampires, Allah etc.

Because I don’t believe the universe was created in six days, the earth is less than 10,000 years old, that water was turned in wine etc etc – then somehow it is me that is gullible to other baloney?! lol

You can turn that comment around to make other nonsensical comments…

“If you don’t believe in Santa Claus, you’ll believe in anything”
“If you don’t believe in Rush Limbaugh, you’ll believe in anything”
“If you don’t believe in Climate Change, you’ll believe in anything”

I am less likely to believe someone on Climate change/Global Warming if they fundamentally believe everything in The Bible or The Koran is fact. Because religion doesn’t deal in facts – it requests it’s practioners to switch off their logical reasoning and just BELIEVE.

@GaffaUK:

Actually, I believe the quote is “If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything”. And I believe the author of that quote was Alexander Hamilton.

Also I believe GK Chesterton stated: “When people stop believing in God, they don’t believe in nothing — they believe in anything.”

Interesting though how either Bush or Rush have to be blamed for everything with which they do not agree when it comes to the Left. Something happens they don’t like… ‘BUSH’S FAULT!!!’ Something is stated they don’t agree with… ‘that idiot Rush said it!!!’

GaffaUK,
I’m not sure if it was Rush or someone else who said that. I do know it’s an old axiom. It’s not nececessarily illogical.
Belief is the basis of any religion or political ideology. Your belief or disbelief in God is none of my concern, nor should it be. You are free to believe anything you wish. I certainly don’t want to impose my views on you, nor am I suggesting that you yourself are gullible. However. your defensive posture suggests I touched a nerve.
We all believe in something. The question is, in what do we believe? This is a rather all-encompassing query, but the fact remains. Do you believe in families? You may very well then act on that belief and and engage in behavior that reflects your belief. I’d be willing to guess your parents did. Are you a Republican or a Democrat (or in your case, a Tory or Labour supporter?) Your answer reveals your belief in their doctrines and guides the way you vote. I hope you now understand what I mean when I say that our beliefs define us.
Some people, when they see the word “God” or “Christianity”, immediately think “That guy’s a Bible-totin’ gun-thumper!” That’s certainly the image that the media has created, as false as it is. While I consider myself a Christian, I don’t believe everything in the Bible should be taken literally. In the numerous times the Bible has been translated, some meanings certainly have been lost or misinterpreted in ways that reflect that point in time of whichever society translated it. Similie and metaphor abound, along with some poetry and a song or two. It’s a wonderful book, tells an interesting story and contains great insight, but you can’t take it literally. That’s not what it’s meant to do. I’m going to anger some more folks when I say that if you find someone who interprets the Bible literally, watch out, for the same reasons I outlined in my original observation above.
Christianity consists of nothing more than common sense, listening to your conscience, and being empathetic enough to others to employ the Golden Rule (by saying to yourself, “If our situations were reversed, how would I want to be treated?”). God lives inside us in the form of intuition, sort of a cosmic BS detector. It does require a certain faith, but it doesn’t require the abandonment of logic by any means. If anything, it enhances logic.
My original point was that blind belief in anyone or anything is itelf illogical. That is what is evidenced more than anything in the hoax of “Climate Change” and makes me very suspicious of its’ supporters and motives. I see nothing good in it.

This is just another great post Nancy! The Kyoto jidhadists are at work here. They seek domination of this world just like the Islamists seeks a Califate. Why would the Democrts be on that scam? Well, IMHO just follow the money trail and it will be very easy to understand.

Obama has many ways of ruining this country and this is one powerful way. So why be surprise? No suprise here. He is just being consequent in his agenda.

@Michael

Hamilton’s original quote is certainly an improvement but even that falls short. I doubt a nihilist would agree with him.

@Backsward Boy
If you sign up to a doctrine then you are more like to champion that beyond facts and logic – as can often be seen those of the far left and right – but also to a lesser degree I believe in the centre. I will certainly doubt that Christianity is nothing more than Common Sense. It has taken centuries for the Catholic Church to admit is was wrong about the earth revolving around the sun. It still argues about the evidence regarding evolution. I believe the belief in a God is understandable but irrational. Those who follow don’t like to involve facts or proof when the magnifying glass is placed on their religion.

The Christain church has split into many dominations over lots of silly questions regarding the holy trinity etc etc which is basic baloney anyway. Whereas the debate on Climate Change is mainly about the interpretation of knowledge, new information and prediction based on current information. Of course it can be hyped or distorted on either side. By it is not a belief system like religion. This debate is unlikely to last centuries and be unanswered.

Michael,

If you belive in nothing than you can believe in anything. This is why Obama is such a perfect figure for the left.
He is a blank slate upon which people can project their own desires. And as long as Obama stands above the fray by not taking a stand, voting ‘present’, the more people will believe in him.

With regards to Bush and Rush… a common enemy is extremely unifying. The third world despots use the US as a common enemy to divert from their own failed policies. It works.

When Bush is gone and the liberals are without a common enemy, someone upon whom to hang their failures, global warming will serve as a catch-all excuse for any and all failed policies and the people will unite to ‘fight it.’

Alas, America is becoming a land of useful idiots.

@Nancy

Well Obama believes in Christianity (so he already passes Backwards Boy test),
he believes in change, he believes in spending the US out of recession, he believes in change, he believes in diplomacy, he believes in change, he believes in getting troops of Iraq….did I mention change?

As for common enemy – well we still got Palin;)

Yoiu’re right. I forgot about Palin. What a perfect enemy she makes.

You betcha!;)

What has been lost in the AGW debate is a 400 year history of science done by collecting data.
We forget the world view of 400 years ago: the earth is the center of the universe and immovable; the objects in the sky are pure light (ethereal); kings rule by divine right; all that is can be studied in terms of the four elements earth, water, air, and fire; too many other universals to list here.
What happened in the 17th century was the rediscovery of the dictum of Archimedes: “measure what is measurable; make measurable what is not so.”
The bounty of measurement surrounds us, in all of our way of life. Undreamed of marvels undergird our daily lives. All that separates us from the peasants of central Africa and central China is measurement.
Well, measurement is out. James Hansen carefully puts his finger on the scales and changes the data in order to make the data conform to his beliefs.
Our political leaders want to limit carbon dioxide, despite the FACT that we have no grip on the global carbon dioxide budget. By budget I mean where is all the CO2? How much is in the ocean, how much is in the undersea sediments, how much is in the dry land earth, and how do these amounts vary depending on temperature, humidity, pressure, and wind? What is the content of CO2 in volcanic explosions?
What is the contribution of CO2 to retention of heat energy from the Earth? How would varying CO2 content in the atmosphere affect heat retention?
All of these have become questions which are not permitted. When I wrote some friends saying that the data had been manipulated, I was denounced as an ignorant fool with no knowledge of science (earned Ph.D. degrees do not count).
Our Western European culture is turning away from science and turning to faith. Just Believe, we are told, because We Can. Just ignore all of those facts that get in the way of the narrative. The fact that no nation has ever prospered under Keynesian economics is no reason not to adopt Keynes. The fact that no nation has ever prospered under socialism is no reason to avoid socialism. The fact that no nation has ever prospered under one-party rule is no reason to avoid one-party rule.
It is back to the dark ages, folks.

The climate is always changing. How do you fight climate change without killing the planet?
The democraps have this disney cartoon (leftwing) idea that the planet was just one happy harmonious place until humans came along and upset the apple cart. But if you have any kind of science background you quickly realize that life itself is a destabilizing force and a great conflicting force on this planet and great cataclysms have occurred throughout eons of time. Indeed, only one billion years into the planet life was nearly extinguished due to the biological production of an extremely poisonous gas, OXYGEN. However a tiny minority of creatures were able to utilize that poisonous gas and became prevalent thereafter. Similar catastrophes occurred at intervals of hundreds of millions of years to our planet, all without any intervention from the then non existent homo sapiens sapiens. Indeed, one could imagine some leftwing bacteria a billion years agon doing its darndest to stop the production of oxygen, because of the inconvenient truth that it would lead to an uninhabitable planet within generations. However, because the left wing is anti science and pro paganism, it continues its delusion of a peaceful world in harmony (Lion King soundtrack cue), but for the presence of pesky humans.
If the DEM congress and the DEM administration follow through on their global warming (climate change-what a surefire way to know that this is a leftwing hoax than to see the change in terminology from anthropomorphic global warming to the vague and unfalsifiable term ‘climate change’) they will change the economy from a recession to a great depression. Of course they will try to blame the outgoing President Bush for this, but the dem fingerprints (and a few RINOS like McCain, will have their prints on it as well), wiil be on that catastrophe. So if I had the money, I’d be investing in gold now cause the worst is yet to come from the Obamanation.
