I don’t know, it seemed the words, “My Muslim faith” rolled off his tongue way to easily for it to be a “misspeak”. When Stephanopholis corrected him saying “Christian”, Obama looked confused for a second, and then looked like he would have liked to crack up realizing his “oops” moment!
Obama’s acceptance speech was loaded with nothing more than direct attacks on John McCain and vague promises to do something about x,y and z while speaking in complete generalities.
There are no issue specifics from the Obama campaign because if there were honest about their very, very liberal agenda no one would vote for them.
P.S. I didn’t hear you moaning about the “real issues” when Sarah Palin’s 17 year old daughter was being attacked.

Uncle Sam has just become the 800 pound gorilla in the U.S. mortgage market. The Bush administration is seizing troubled mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in a bid to help reverse a prolonged housing and credit crisis.
But private analysts worried that it may not be enough to stabilize the slumping housing market given the glut of vacant homes for sale, rising foreclosures, rising unemployment and weak consumer confidence.
Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Economy.com predicted that 30-year mortgage rates, currently averaging 6.35 percent nationwide, could dip to close to 5.5 percent. That’s because investors will be more willing to buy the debt issued by Fannie and Freddie – and at lower rates – since the federal government is now explicitly standing behind that debt.
“Effectively, the federal government has now become the nation’s mortgage lender,” he said. “This takes a major financial threat off the table.”
Officials announced Sunday that both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were being placed in a government conservatorship, a move that could end up costing taxpayers billions of dollars.

Ruh Roh George, Obama Gaffes again. This is a little bit more than just a gaffe. He has always said he was never a muslim and now this. I di not believe he is a Muslim now, or was never a practicing Islamist, but when he was in Indonesia he was enrolled as a Muslim and took classes on the Q’uran. By not means should this disqualify him from being the President, but the lies that he keeps on saying about his Muslim background is not helping him He should just come out and say he was a Muslim because his father was one and that he never really practiced it and it would be over.
And if you think that Obama would lower anyone’s taxes, just remember the tax cuts we were supposed to get with Clinton, they never came and we had the biggest tax increase ever at the time. It was a slip. That last little bit makes it apparent to any logical person that he was referring to the fact that McCain never made any suggestions that Obama was a Muslim
Yes, he lived in Indonesia for part of his childhood, but his school did not push the Muslim faith. Also, Obama’s father left when he was 2 years old, and he only saw him one other time before his death. Why would he take on his father’s faith, when he didn’t even really know him?
Hate spreads hate, people. I don’t agree with Palin’s faith, but I would NEVER hold it against her. This is America, and the last time I checked, we have the freedom of religion.
I never said his faith had anything to do with it. He has lied about it. His step-father was also Muslim and in Indonesia you take the faith of your father. I would never put his faith as a reason not ot vote for anyone. Hell, I am Catholic and my faith is put down by almost every Protestant Church and only one Catholic has been President. It is that he has lied about it and the little extra on the rest does not change the fact a bit.

Play the whole tape – its very clear when you look at the whole segment, when Stephanopolis asks him, that Obama meant “my Muslim faith” in the sense of “my supposed Muslim faith,” i.e. “they’re lying about my being Muslim.” Even conservative websites have admitted that no one could look at this as some kind of revealing slip of the tongue on Obama’s part.
Look, the guy is Christian, OK? Attack his policies if you like, but stop with the innuendo.
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were quasi-public institutions operating with an implicit government guarantee. Under that structure they had essentially nothing to lose no matter what they did.
The statement from Gov. Palin that you so gleefully pounced on is absolutely accurate.

This financial peril was widely known before Gov. Palin’s statement and yesterday’s bailout to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars. Their stock price has plummeted 90% since January. Everyone who was paying attention knew this was coming. The risk and costs to the American taxpayer is apparent.
So, explain to me, if you’re able, how her statement is incorrect.
It’s really quite shocking what has gone on behind the scenes at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and who the players are.

Richard, you could be right, but the converse could also be true in this case. I can’t judge Obama’s heart (that’s between him and his Maker), but I do know that “Christian” seems to be used very loosely in his case. You can’t be both Christian and Muslim at the same time, and his church/spiritual relationships more point to the latter than the former.
Anyone who wants to understand Obama and the Muslim issue need only do just a small amount of research right here on this site.
I have never advocated for him to be disqualified from holding office based on his faith, however his nuanced ever changing, outright dishonest positions on something as basic as this creates questions in regard to his overall character and honesty.
As to the idea that his school didn’t push the Muslim faith, that’s simply not true. Obama told us differently in his own book.

Sarah Palin was right because we the taxpayers are bailing out Freddy Mac and Fannie Mae (or whoever the hell they are). You’re assuming that McCain/Palin had no prior knowledge that there was going to be a bail-out. I think she and McCain both knew there was going to be a taxpayer bailout and that is what Sarah meant by her comments.
Also, the Chosen One lied to George Stephanopoulas when he said he registered for the Selective Service when he got out of high school in 1979. There was no more Selective Service registration in 1979. It terminated in 1975 and wasn’t reinstated until July 1980. Just another lie to pile on the list of ones he has already built up.
The public announcement of a bailout plan didn’t come until Sunday but you are correct in believing that there are those who had prior knowledge of the decision.
Experts all around could see this bailout in the tea leaves months ago.
The only thing not certain was the date it would occur.

As for Music Man (16): were you alive during the Clinton presidency? 8 years of relative peace and great prosperity? Were you alive during the Reagan presidency? When the national debt grew more in 8 years than it had in the whole previous history of the country? Are you aware of the statistics released this week which prove that, since World War II, the economy has grown significantly faster whenever Democrats have controlled the Presidency? Your use of ALL CAPS is probably a sign that your thought springs from some deep anger within you rather than from ideas and information, so I guess I shouldn’t be surprized.

And Clinton’s prosperity was cooking of the books, just like Enron did.
And Clinton era was peaceful, Twin Towers bombed, USS Cole, Attacks in Africa, Bosnia. Not really peaceful to me.

Sarah Palin was right because we the taxpayers are bailing out Freddy Mac and Fannie Mae (or whoever the hell they are). You’re assuming that McCain/Palin had no prior knowledge that there was going to be a bail-out. I think she and McCain both knew there was going to be a taxpayer bailout and that is what Sarah meant by her comments.
Also, the Chosen One lied to George Stephanopoulas when he said he registered for the Selective Service when he got out of high school in 1979. There was no more Selective Service registration in 1979. It terminated in 1975 and wasn’t reinstated until July 1980. Just another lie to pile on the list of ones he has already built up.

The public announcement of a bailout plan didn’t come until Sunday but you are correct in believing that there are those who had prior knowledge of the decision.
Experts all around could see this bailout in the tea leaves months ago.
