The Questions Not Asked: And the Problem Not Faced

Often times, the question not asked speaks more about a person’s beliefs and values then the questions asked. Likewise, the lack of questions and concern regarding the current state of affairs in the world not only speaks volumes about the current state of the Democratic Party but also of the current state of this country.

One would think honor killings, beheadings, suppression of all women’s rights, and suppression of democracy and freedom of religion by al-Qaeda and other Islamic terror networks are not occurring judging from the lack of concern, but they are. You would think people are not being killed for being Christian, but they are. One would not think that we are in a war with an enemy for the survival of Democracy. Freedom of Religion, and Women’s Rights, but we are.

N.O.W. cares more about killing babies and gay marriage then the everyday abuses of women by radical Islam. How sad is that?

So where is the concern here for these issues in this election, Mr. or Ms. Democrat? Right now the price of gas continues to climb higher and higher, but few talk about a long term energy strategy. When was the last time a power plant, oil well, or refinery was built? Take a guess? It’s been a while. But there is another question that is not being asked that I find the most disturbing of all, and that is what I want to focus on, and it concerns the current leader of the Democratic Primary.

I am not sure what I find more disturbing, that there is a man with a long history of association with racists, America haters, terrorists, and crooks, or that there is a large number of Americans willing to make excuses for his behavior. Of course some kool-aid drinkers believe Wrights quotes were taken out of context. To quote one joker:

I call BS on your premise, which relies on an unfair and untrue caricature of Rev. Wright. You seem to believe that an accurate portrayal of Rev. Wright can be seen in a carefully constructed video montage that takes only the most shocking single sentences from years of sermons, divorces them from their context, then strings them together back to back. Now I don’t know if you attend worship somewhere, but I’ll bet I could employ the same techniques to any prominent preacher and get the same results: a vastly skewed caricature of the person that is an unfair portrayal of who s/he is. One need only watch Rev. Wright in context to see how unfair and untrue that media has been in presenting Rev. Wright in this manner. If nothing else, I think it’s incumbent upon all of us to have higher standards for what we blindly accept from the media, rather than just believing whatever we’re spoon-fed.”

Okay, so those jerk conservatives took the quotes out of context. Is that true? Lets see a larger excerpt of the speech and see if Mr. Wright looks any better.

Jeremiah Wright – 4-13-03 – Cut 1 – Jesus’ enemies,
And they could not see the thing that make for peace. We keep forgetting, we keep forgetting, and we need to remember, Jerome Ross wrote about it, I keep reminding you of it, write it down so you don’t forget, these people had, in Luke 19, an occupying army living in their country. Jesus, in Verse 43, calls them their enemies. Say enemies (crowd responds). Their enemies had all the political power. Remember, they had to send Jesus to a court presided over by the enemy, a provisional governor appointed by their enemies, ran the civic and the political affairs of their capitol. He had him backing him up an occupying army with superior soldiers. They were commandos trained in urban combat, and trained to kill on command. Remember, it was soldiers of the 3rd Marine Regiment of Rome who had fun with Jesus, who was mistreated as a prisoner of war, an enemy of the occupying army stationed in Jerusalem, to ensure the mopping up action of Operation Israeli Freedom. These people were blinded by the culture of war. Do you know what it is like to live under military rule 24/7, 365? These people were blinded by their circumstance of oppression. Their enemies not only had all of the political power, with Governor Pontius Pilate, y’all call him Pontius Pilate. He’s Italian, Pontius Pilate.

Jeremiah Wright – 4-13-03 – Cut 2 – Military making war for peace is like raping for virginity.
Let me help you with something. Let me help you. Let me help you. The military does not make for peace. The military only keeps the lid on for a little while. The military doesn’t make for peace. And the absence of armed resistance doesn’t mean the presence of genuine peace. Somebody needs to hear me tonight. You’re not hearing me. War does not make for peace. We said that in the 11:00 service. Fighting for peace is like raping for virginity. War does not make for peace, war only makes for escalating violence, and a mindset to pay the enemy back by any means necessary when your wife or your children have been crushed by the enemy. When your mother or your father have been mowed down by the military, peace is not on your mind, paybacks is the only game in town. You just bide your time, and you wait for your opportunity, but somebody is going to pay dearly for the permanent damage that has come into your life, and wrecked your world, as it rocked your world. Military might doesn’t make for peace, war does not make for peace, occupying somebody else’s country doesn’t make for peace. Killing those who fought to protect their own homes doesn’t make for peace. Press conferences claiming victory do not make for peace.

Jeremiah Wright – 4-13-03 – Cut 3 – crusade and jihad are one and the same.
Now if you don’t mind, if you don’t mind, I’m going to hang out here, homiletically for just a little while, and then I’m going to let you go home. I have got to pause here, however, as a pastor, because a lot of people still confused 2,000 years later. They still confuse God with their government. Now see, we can see clearly the confusion in the mind of a few Muslims, and please notice, I did not say all Muslims, I said a few Muslims, who see Allah as condoning killing, and killing any and all who don’t believe what they believe. They call it jihad. We can see clearly the confusion in their minds, but we cannot see clearly what it is that we do. We call it crusade when we turn right around and say that our God condones the killing of innocent civilians as a necessary means to an end. We say that God understands collateral damage. We say that God knows how to forgive friendly fire. We say that God will bless the shock and awe as we take over, unilaterally, another country, calling it a coalition government, we’ve got three guys from Australia, going against the United Nations, going against the majority of Christians, Muslims and Jews throughout the world, making a preemptive strike in the name of God. We cannot see, however, what we are doing is the same thing al Qaeda is doing under a different colored flag, calling on the name of a different God to sanction and approve our murder and our mayhem.

Jeremiah Wright – 4-13-03 – Cut 5 – This government lies,
This government lied about their belief that all men were created equal. The truth is, they believed all white men were created equal. The truth is, they did not believe that even white women were created equal, in creation nor in civilization. The government had to pass an amendment to the Constitution to get white women the vote. Then, the government had to pass an equal rights amendment to get equal protection under the law for women. The government still thinks a woman has no rights over her own body, and between Uncle Clarence, who sexually harassed Anita Hill, and a closeted Klan Court that is a throwback to the 19th Century, hand-picked by Daddy Bush, Ronald Reagan, Gerald Ford, between Clarence and that stacked Court, they’re about to undo Roe V. Wade, just like they’re about to undo affirmative action. The government lied in its founding documents, and the government is still lying today. Governments lie. Turn to your neighbors and say governments lie (audience responds). The government lied about Pearl Harbor. They knew the Japanese were going to attack. Governments lie. The government lied about the Gulf of Tonkin. They wanted that resolution to get us into the Vietnam War. Governments lie. The government lied about Nelson Mandela, and our CIA helped put him in prison, and keep him there for 27 years. The South African government lied on Nelson Mandela. Governments lie. Turn back to your neighbor and say it again. Governments lie (audience responds). The government lied about the Tuskegee experiment. They purposefully infected African-American men with syphilis. Governments lie. The government lied about bombing Cambodia. And Richard Nixon stood in front of the camera, let me make myself perfectly clear, we are not…governments lie. The government lied about the drugs for arms Contra scheme, orchestrated by Oliver North, and then they pardoned, the government pardoned all of the perpetrators, so they could get better jobs in the government. Governments lie. The government lied about adventing the HIV virus as a means of genocide against people of color. Governments lie. The government lied about a connection between al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein, and are connected between 9/11/01 and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Governments lie. The government lied about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq being a threat to the United States peace. And guess what else? If they don’t find them some weapons of mass destruction, they’re going to do just like the LAPD, and plant them some weapons of mass destruction. Governments lie. (applause)

Jeremiah Wright – 4-13-03 – Cut 7 – God damn America, and Condaskeezza Rice.
The United States of America government, when it came to treating her citizens of Indian descent fairly, she failed. She put them on reservations. When it came to treating her citizens of Japanese descent fairly, she failed. She put them in internment prison camps. When it came to treating its citizens of African descent fairly, America failed. She put them in chains. The government put them on slave quarters, put them on auction blocks, put them in cotton fields, put them in inferior schools, put them in substandard housing, put them in scientific experiments, put them in the lowest-paying jobs, put them outside the equal protection of the law, kept them out of their racist bastions of higher education, and locked them into positions of hopelessness and helplessness. The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three strikes law, and then wants us to sing God bless America? No, no, no, not God bless America, God damn America, that’s in the Bible, for killing innocent people. God damn America for treating her citizens as less than human. God damn America as long as she tries to act like she is God, and she is supreme (applause). The United States government has failed the vast majority of her citizens of African descent. Think about this, think about this, for every one Oprah, a billionaire, you’ve got five million blacks who are out of work. For every one Colin Powell, a millionaire, you’ve got ten million blacks who cannot read. For every one Condoskeezer Rice, you’ve got one million in prison. For every one Tiger Woods, who needs to get beat at the Masters, with his Cablasian hips, playing on a course that discriminates against women, God has His way of bringing you up short when you get too big for your Cablasian britches. For every one Tiger Woods, we’ve got ten thousand black kids who will never see a golf course. The United States government has failed the vast majority of her citizens of African descent. But I’m fitna to help you one last time. Turn to your neighbors, say he’s fitna to help us one last time (audience responds). Turn back and say forgive him for the God damn (audience responds). That’s in the Bible, though. Blessing and curses is in the Bible. It’s in the Bible. (applause) I’m fitna to help you one last time.

Jeremiah Wright – 9-16-01 – Cut 9 – Faith footnote – chickens coming home to roost.
Now I asked the Lord what should our response be in light of such an unthinkable act. But before I share with you what the Lord showed me, I want to give you one of my little faith footnotes. Visitors, I often give faith footnotes so that our members don’t lose sight of the big picture. Let me give you a little faith footnote. Turn to your neighbor and say faith footnote (audience responds). I heard Ambassador Peck on an interview yesterday. Did anybody else see him or hear him? He was on Fox News. This is a white man, and he was upsetting the Fox News commentators to no end. He pointed out, did you see him, John? A white man, and he pointed out, an ambassador that wasn’t Malcolm X saying, when he got silenced by Elijah Muhammad, was in fact true. America’s chickens are coming home to roost. We took this country, by terror, away from the Sioux, the Apache, the Arawak, the Commanche, the Arapaho, the Navajo. Terrorism. We took Africans from their country to build our way of ease, and kept them enslaved and living in fear. Terrorism. We bombed Grenada and killed innocent civilians, babies, non-military personnel. We bombed the black civilian community of Panama with stealth bombers, and killed unarmed teenagers and toddlers, pregnant mothers and hard-working fathers. We bombed Qaddafi’s home and killed his child. Blessed are they who bash your children’s head against a rock. We bombed Iraq. we killed unarmed civilians trying to make a living. We bombed a plant in Sudan to pay back for the attack on our embassy, killed hundreds of hard-working people, mothers and fathers, who left home to go that day, not knowing that they’d never get back home. We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye. Kids playing in the playground, mothers picking up children after school, civilian, not soldiers, people just trying to make it day by day. We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back into our own front yards? America’s chickens are coming home to roost. Violence begets violence. Hatred begets hatred. And terrorism begets terrorism. A white ambassador said that, y’all, not a black militant, not a reverend who preaches about racism, an ambassador whose eyes are wide open, and who’s trying to get us to wake up and move away from this dangerous precipice upon which we are now poised. The ambassador said the people that we wounded don’t have the military capability we have. But they do have individuals who are willing to die and take thousands with them, and we need to come to grips with that. Let me stop my faith footnote right there, and ask you to think about that over the next few weeks, if God grants us that many days. Turn back to your neighbor and say footnote is over (audience responds).

The more we hear the worse Wright look, and the worse Barack’s judgment looks. Wright was not taken out of context, and if any white politician said such a thing or sat in the aisles of such a group for 2o years , his political career would be over. You cannot convince me that Obama sat in the Church for 20 years and was not aware of what this racist spoke. And apparently his wife shared in some of the same views:

In her senior thesis at Princeton, Michelle Obama, the wife of Barack Obama stated that America was a nation founded on “crime and hatred”. Moreover, she stated that whites in America were “ineradicably racist”. The 1985 thesis, titled “Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community” was written under her maiden name, Michelle LaVaughn Robinson. Michelle Obama stated in her thesis that to “Whites at Princeton, it often seems as if, to them, she will always be Black first…” However, it was reported by a fellow black classmate, “If those “Whites at Princeton” really saw Michelle as one who always would “be Black first,” it seems that she gave them that impression”.Most alarming is Michelle Obama’s use of the terms “separationist” and “integrationist” when describing the views of black people.Mrs. Obama clearly identifies herself with a “separationist” view of race.”By actually working with the Black lower class or within their communities as a result of their ideologies, a separationist may better understand the desperation of their situation and feel more hopeless about a resolution as opposed to an integrationist who is ignorant to their plight.”

A white seperationists would be D.O.A. in modern American Politics. How is it that a man with a racist pastor, a wife who shares some of these views, and has a terrorist friend still a viable candidate for president?

So, here, in my opinion, are a number of questions few are asking.

1) Is there a double standard in politics and the media?

2) If this would not be acceptable behavior for a white politician, are the people defending Obama guilty of a type of reverse racism?

3) Is this a belief of a small group of radical people or is this the belief of a large percentage of the African American community then might originally be thought.

4) And finally, what are the long term consequences of these beliefs if they are representative of a large percentage of the African American community?

And for anyone who does not think there are racists in the black community, please read this comment by a happy reader on one of my sites:

“Jeremiah Wright like Farakhan, like Martin Luther King, like Malcolm X, Like Ghandi, like JESUS and so many other, who have had the MISFORTUNE of having to deal with whites, have done no more than brought attention to the wickeness and wicked actions of whites. For this these men have been villified, demonized, mentally castrated, KILLED. Oddly enough though…after whites have killed them… all of a sudden they REVERE them as heros, champions of human rights, working for the good will of all mankind. Huh?

So here we are at step one again and as expected we read and hear the same race baiting tripe of “can’t be trusted as the man we want to represent us to the world” when referring to Obama and I can comfortably say when referring to Jeremiah or Otis as well. I think the only man qualified to represent whites in the world is SATAN…since whites are most like him…as a matter of fact since they love all that is wicked I would easily say whites are his spawn. Spiritual demons walking the earth in human like flesh, but causing just as much trouble.

And by the way…If anyone is to worry about THUGS…worry about the white thugs that send young men off to war based on LIES, worry about the white thugs who have installed the new Patriot Act/Police State laws to tyrannize americans, worry about the white thugs that are confiscating land, homes and property after dupping the mases on lies about the housing market, financial markets and investments; worry about white thugs who are bought out by big pharma, petrochemical industry who put drugs and chemicals into the bodies of americans through the air, water and food and are the main causes of so much sickness and disease; worry about the white thugs called cops that police the streets and have been on a whirlwind of violence against the citizens of america: hanging women in airports, tasing children to death, shooting innocent men to death, police assasinating people who speak out against them and government officials, main dealers of drugs etc etc; worry about the white thugs who run government and lust after homosexual sex in bathrooms and airports…..THAT’S THE TYPE OF THUG ONE SHOULD WORRY ABOUT!”

Racism will not end until there is an honest and fair discussion on the subject by both sides and when both sides are held to the same standard. My dearest wish is to end the scourge of racism. However, as with every other subject, I disagree with the left’s approach on how to end it. First of all, it must be recognized that there is racism on both sides. A failure to recognize this will just allow the cycle to continue indefinitely. Right and wrong does not change with the color of your skin. A white church for the white way would be completely unacceptable to today’s society. So why is a black church for black people okay? Reverse racism (affirmative action) just builds white resentment and is the polar opposite of Dr. King’s dream of judging someone by the content of their character as opposed to the color of their skin. It can also be asked why a group that is so interested in inclusion and avoiding racism would self segregate themselves at every chance. A group for the advancement of white people or a white entertainment network would never be acceptable. So why is for blacks? Again, does right and wrong change according to the color of your skin? Blacks would respond that this is in response to already existing discrimination. That may be so. But I would argue this continues the cycle. And unless you believe that the only issue facing black America is white racism, then this constant focus on racism hurts the African-American community as it does not allow an honest look at the ills and the solutions to the problems of the African community.

Until people think about right and wrong irrelevant of the issue of black and white, racism will be a problem. And the groups themselves are part of that problem, Sharpton is silent on the issues of the death of the black family, (thank you liberals) the devaluation of education in the urban community, and the negative influence of gang culture. Only Bill Cosby, a comedian, has been brave enough to tackle some of the real issues facing the black community. Sure, racism exists and it is a problem, but it is not just race guys. Racism was a lot worse decades ago and blacks were not killing each other by the thousands and they most likely had a dad in their family. And they were not incarcerated at the present rate. And don’t talk about slavery, because that was a lot closer to the age of slavery and again, the black on black killings, and the incarceration was a lot lower and more families had fathers. (And by the way, Reparations already exist. They are called welfare, affirmative action, and other social programs designed to help the African family financed, for the most part, by the affluent.)

Even worse, by their very nature, I believe these groups contribute to the very problem they claim they were created to prevent. When you start off by doing (discriminating, in this case against whites by affirmative action) what you claim to be opposing (discrimination) you do nothing to solve your problem in the long term. I am tired of two sets of standards for two different groups. According to liberals, discriminating against whites and Christians is not so bad, (as we have it coming, see) but discrimination against gays Muslims, and minorities (some of who are the majority now) is much, much worse. You can’t have it both ways, it is either bad to discriminate or it isn’t. This is the same logic that makes liberals more outraged when a white guy beats up a black then when a black kills a black. This is the same logic that allows N.O.W. to march for the rights to kill babies and for gay rights but stays silent on actual abuses in the Muslim world. This is the same logic that allows liberals to march to support a minor event when their own young are being killed by the tens of thousands every year. Which event hurts the black community more? But that is black on black, so Sharpton does not care. It only matters if race plays a part, for there are no political points to gain on black on black crimes. And my friends, is why liberals never fix anything and often are more destructive then any white bigot to the black community. They won’t confront any real problem that violates their simple, politically correct view of the world.

Until the groups like the NAACP find the courage to fight the root causes of the plight of urban community, the current start of the black family is unlikely to get any better. All this just further illustrates the utter lack of any core principles in liberalism as racism (and discrimination, terrorism, violence, and oppression) is only bad in the liberal eyes if whites and Christians are practicing it. In the end, racism will never go away until both sides are held to the same set of standards. And as long as one side is allowed to discriminate freely, as long as the standard of right and wrong is influenced on both sides by the color of the skin, it just sows the seeds of hate for a different generation. Dr. King had it right. People should be judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin. This is the only thing that will end racism. And for both sides it remains a dream.

By the way, if anyone wants to try the race card and claim I do not like Obama because he is black, I volunteered for the Steele campaign, a black man whom I would be proud to have represented me. I would also argue that the intellectual B.S. that allows this to happen is moral relativism. For if you do really believe in a universal right and wrong, then racism in ANY form is wrong. In the end, it is this simple. You will not end discrimination by practicing discrimination and you will not end racism by being racists “How do you stop racism? Stop talking about it.“ Both sides must judge people by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. It is that simple, and that hard.

i guess we all are to stupid to realize that he isn’t a racist, american hating pig. he is crazy, obama is cracked for believing in him, the whole black religious movement is almost a cult. they have their leaders, beliefs and their movemnets that actually go against god’s word. but, we are all racists, yeah right. we all speak english and can read for ourselves what he has preached, it is hatred of god’s word, racism and lies.

There is no “REVERSE RACISM”; only RACISM. It doesn’t matter what color the person is that perpetuates the belief or behavior.

Rob N.O.W. is more interested in domestic issues than foreign if you would like to learn more about that organization than I suggest you look in the wikipedia article. For decades the policy of the USA has been to not interfere with the internal workings of other nations. Russian women are beaten by their drunkard husbands ?? so shall we invade ? French husbands take mistresses ? Latin machismo allows their wives to be beaten yeah the world is a bad place.
New wells are constantly being drilled in the USA.
The oil that is found and will be found in the USA will not be sold to us at a substantially lower rate it is sold to the highest bidder, always has been and always will be unless you are thinking of nationalizing the industry, like say Mexico where you can still buy gas and diesel for 2 bucks a gallon.
ANWAR would take YEARS to come on line, drilling for oil is a bit diffeernt than say using a Dewalt cordlesss drill.

So John Ryan:

Do you agree with N.O.W.’s policy?

Yiddish… exactly so on the “racism” definition. And a more apt description of affirmative action policies, I might add. But I suspect that won’t fly for the world of professional victims.

John Ryan… geez, guy. No wonder you’re so fubar’d. Wikipedia is an educational source of choice?? And you’re tackling NOW and their historic mentality now??

Trust me, you’re way too young to comprehend or deal with NOW wenches, nor their original ideology.Because much of what they seek is considered socially acceptable, or has had major gains via their lobbying liberal legislators, they’ve become mostly irrelevant. Lesbian/gay relationships, abortions, equal pay… Equal Opportunity Employment and Fair Housing cover gender. Modern women give them nary a thought.

Most of us old timer women have had distain for them since their inception. Quite frankly they’ve damaged the sanctity of marriage and relationships more than helped. They are actually the epitome of their own caricature… fighting for “equality” and lesbian rights. But you won’t find them lending much of a hand for the boys who want to marry boys. For a group who hates discrimination, they don’t mind discriminating against males on every and any issue.

But you obviously don’t know their original mission statement, written by Betty Friedan (authoress of The Feminine Mystique, if that gives you any clue…), was to be part of a *world* wide movement to gain equality for *ALL* women. Since they are an physical activist group, composed of North American women, it’s not feasible for them to be active protesting outside the US political realm. But they do have “sister” organizations with which they cooperate.

However Rob is correct… their viability and genuine concern is shot to hell by their recent decades of inaction on womens issues… including here in the US. That’s assuming they had any viability since their early years anyway.

But remember, there was nary a whisper of condemnation of Bill Clinton and his womanizing, just to name one domestic issue they remained quiet on. They should, according to their original founders, being weighing in on abuse of women under Islamic law even here in the states. But that would pretty much sap what little influence they have left.

Just a friendly suggestion.. you’d be better off laying low on stuff you don’t know, rather than regurgitating wikipedia nonsense as source material for history. Then again, after reading so many of your posts elsewhere, you are the quintessential fruit of their (NOW’s) political womb.

And oh yeah… economics 101. When you increase supply, prices come down on the free market. They don’t have to be govt owned. They told us Anwar would take years, years ago when they were refusing to drill. Now it’s years later, and the same ol’ argument comes up. The lack of foresight by liberal Congress members for decades has led us to this point. So next time you fill up, thank your buddies in the halls of the Capitol.

Once a again John Ryan you are wrong. You really should stay a way from Wiki sites they are horribly inaccurate.

From the horses mouth: They have a complete section on Global Feminism.

NOW and Global Feminism

Try going to actual sources next time.

The man is no preacher. he is a racist. Pure and simple. he reminded me of all those old black and white films of Hitler spewing forth his hate and anger at other races and religions.

How anyone could condone such behavior with a straight face is beyound me. How Obama could sit in there and listen to that garbage with his kids is scary.

But then again liberals and the Political Correctness Police only see racism as a one way street.
For them to see it any other way would mean that their fantasy world would could crashing down around their heads. White, black, brown, yellow, there is no excuse for such racist remarks.

Rob – I agree with the sentiment, but I don’t see the problem going away because there is too much money to be made by pumping the image that black folks victims of _____ (fill in the blank with “whites”, “corporations”, “Republicans”). Case in point – Rev Wright. I personally do not believe that he believes half of what he is saying – but it certainly made him lots of $$.

I believe the Rev Wright is not unique. I grew up on the South Side of Chicago as a Roman Catholic. As a young, naive, sheltered working man I could not understand how the black preachers that I met were so wealthy – driving Cadillacs, flashy jewelry, lots of cash. (I met several of these preachers because one of my older co-workers was a serial-dater of this type of man.) At the time I chalked it up to different culture, but in my older days I came to feel that the preachers preyed on their much poorer parishioners through solicitation of donations to support their own lavish lifestyles. Rev Wright reinforces this belief for me, though his parishioners are middle class to wealthy folks. He hit the jackpot.
