But a “news channel that uses it’s resources to inform the American people” would require reporters who were actually willing to go someplace; and — having gotten there — leave the hotels with running water and room service to tell us something worth knowing. And the reporters would miss the good parties.
Kind of like the State Department, which needs people who don’t mind going to Baghdad, Kabul and Cairo, as opposed to London, Paris and Berlin. But they don’t want to miss the parties either.

you know what Mike, if you don’t like the media covering Paris – then DON’T watch it. for this first time in a long time, this Country is actually almost together on this one about Paris, going to jail & all you want to focus on is Iraq whether there’s good news & bad news. it seems to me that you rather see a nation divided than most americans actually agreeing that Paris should go to jail. those of us who DO support the troops KNOW that they’re doing a great job over there. you complain about the coverage on Paris & yet, you’re doing the excat same thing when there’s no coverage about our troops doing wonderful things over in Iraq. it’s nice for once in awhile not to hear anything about Iraq, until someone like you complains about it on constant basis that there isn’t any coverage on our troops doing a good job over there. i’m sure that the coverage of Paris will eventually die down & you can go back to your complaining the lack of coverage of the good that our troops are doing. i know that our troops are doing a great job over there in Iraq.
Tom: How can I, or anyone else, avoid the hour by hour Paris watch coverage?
Have you turned on a television today?
Have you totally missed the point?
P.S. Ira: If the ‘idiotic rich bimbo’ were Nancy Pelosi..” You bet I’d be interested. That’s why I comment on her idiotic activities all the time.

Maybe Folks are so sick and tired of our Affordable Justice System that we’d take anything that resembles justice in any way, shape, or form.
We continueously watch killers, nurderers, rapists, pedophiles, what-have-you, being set free, under-punished, or released to re-commit and have absolutly NO FRIGGIN SAY in these matters. Our justice system is being destroyed by the likes of the ACLU, our judges are re-writting laws at the bench, our lawyers are guilty of worse than the perps they represent.
The impotence of the law-abiding citizen just grows and grows. WTF are we to do?
Today’s justice sucked to be Paris, but WTF you can’t just keep rubbing our noses in your crap and expect us to grin and bear it!
Now, let’s move on to all the other perps just waiting on our special attentions, say starting with DC, the Govt, and work our way up the foodchain from there at the bottom!
Agree completely Mike, but this is the culture we live in now. Just look at my Bruce Willis post. Over 3 years blogging with a few big stories that received some major traffic under my belt and that story went nuts. 10 times the amount of traffic I have ever received, all about a post on Bruce Willis. Ties between AQ/Iraq? Nope. Democrat corruption and cowardly behavior? Nope. Media bias? Nope.
But about a celebrity….everyone wants to know.
It’s why these people who can pretend to be someone else in front of a camera make 20+ million a picture (the big ones of course). People eat it up.
Ask them about Iraq, they don’t have the faintest clue about whats really going on over there. They don’t have the faintest clue about the difference between a Shiite and a Sunni, between a Arab and a Persian, about al-Qaeda’s beef with us. But ask them about Paris and they are off the hook with knowledge.
I have the tv news on now. And I think just as sick as people’s fix on this story, upon Hollywood celebrities in general, and those celebs who crave the attention and fame, are the paparazzi sharks.
I’m watching photographers swarming the car, chasing it, getting close enough to touch their lens to the car windows…I don’t care how much money I was being offered. I don’t think I could feel good about myself if I were one of them.
c’mon people of america. who do u think controls the “news,” i would like to know most americans care about global economy and how we effect people who have different cultures and “religion.” remember, this great country was founded by manipulation, deceit and the destruction of the indigneous people of this great continent. so where does this place 90 % of the citizens of the USA?

Mike, Let’s face it the media sucks. 90 % of the what they come up with as news, should’nt even be called news. You know what show I would like to see off the air is Entertaiment Tonight, they have been riding on the death of Nicole K since she passed away. It’s Nicole this, Nicole that every night. It’s good that we have more than a couple of channels, otherwise people would be throwing their TV sets out the windows. Best thing to do is find a good book, cold drink and a comfortable place and feed the mind, P.S. I agree with you 100%
Roy: I don’t care if Entertainment Tonight wants to milk any of these stupid celebrity stories for all it’s worth. I never watch that channel.
And I don’t watch Greta Van Sustern on the Fox News Channel for the same reason.
But the problem is that when I am expecting to get some good indepth coverage of REAL news, it seems Fox, and CNN or MSNBC will drop whatever they are doing if Paris Hilton or some other bimbo breaks a finger nail.
I wish we had a news channel for serious news. Not something boring like PBS. But a channel where real experts could provide more in depth discussion of the important issues we face for more than 2 minutes before the channel cuts away to “Breaking News” which is nothing more than a repeat of the same crap they’ve repeated all day long.
“All of it was more important than some idiotic rich bimbo.” Oh, yeah? What if the ‘idiotic rich bimbo’ were Nancy Pelosi..?

Quite sad.

For a bit of Paris humor, I wrote a fun post on my blog about Paris Hilton…stop by and check it out:
