This kind of news tells us many things.  The main thing it tells us is that our troops have done a superb job of training the Iraqi police to respond to this kind of threat:

Iraqi Police in western Ramadi fought through an ambush and cleared three buildings Sunday.

More than forty Iraqi police responded quickly to reports of kidnappings of university students by Al Qaeda insurgents in the notorious Tameen neighborhood. As the police force approached, insurgents attacked them with rocket-propelled grenade and small arms fire from three buildings.

The police exchanged gunfire with the insurgents and entered the buildings, searching them from room to room. An Iraqi Army patrol responded to the policemen’s call for back-up and joined the firefight against the insurgents. Coalition Forces also responded to the call for back-up and assisted with security in the area.

The police, based out of the Al Huriyah Station, searched and secured the buildings themselves while Coalition Forces provided security. The fight lasted for three hours.

An Iraqi Policeman was killed in action and four civilians were wounded in the crossfire. The wounded were evacuated to the nearest Coalition medical center.  The Iraqi Police detained 26 suspected insurgents and returned to their posts in the city.

You see, this is the kind of thing that should be printed in the MSM since it shows that while there is still terrorists trying their best to bring down this Democracy the Iraqi people DO have the heart and the will to fight them on their own.  More importantedly they are well trained to handle this kind of attack on their own.

Of course after searching the AP and Reuters I found no mention of this event.

Surprised?

How about the fact that the Iraqi army found three car bombs prior to them being detonated:

An Iraqi Army patrol accompanied by Coalition Forces, discovered three-vehicle borne improvised explosive devices emplaced in the Mansour district of western Baghdad Dec 12.

Soldiers of 2nd Battalion, 1st Brigade, 6th Iraqi Army Division teamed with troops from 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division were searching a building when they found one vehicle and two motorcycle bombs. They also discovered additional vehicle bomb making materials and five rifles.

An explosive ordinance disposal team was called and disabled the bombs in place.

Find any mention of that in our MSM?  How about the fact that the Iraqi army found and arrested five terrorists who may have been planning a kidnapping of students:

Troops from 2nd Battalion, 6th Iraqi Army Division arrested five suspected terrorists for criminal activity near the New Pharmacy College in the eastern Baghdad neighborhood of Rusafa Dec. 11.

The 2-6 IA was sent out to investigate the report of a kidnapping of several university students. During their patrol, they spotted five men engaged in illegal activity at the university. Members of the patrol detained the five suspects.

The men were armed with five pistols and 65 rounds of ammunition. The men also had four fake university police badges. The detainees said they were university police, but were spotted carrying weapons and the car they were using had Unbar license plates.

Are you surprised that there was no mention of this:

In an historic meeting in the Tuwaitha Village area of eastern Baghdad, members of the Jisr Diyala Nahia (council), Iraqi security force officials, and local Shia and Sunni leaders reached an initial
agreement to work to end the sectarian violence in their neighborhoods.

The meeting, first discussed after a recent spike in sectarian violence in the area, is a starting point for a future peace accord for the entire region.

The summit ended with the Shia and Sunni sheiks shaking hands with one another, planning another meeting to sign a formal peace agreement at a later date.

None of it can be found in the reporting from the AP nor Reuters.  All of it is newsworthy but they choose to report a story where a car bomb did explode rather then the fact that the Iraqi police and army are so well trained that ON THEIR OWN they are finding and neutralizing the threats against their country.
