Here’s to you, you tyrant:

Bolton is the man I tell you.
Oct 14 (Reuters) – The U.N. Security Council imposed financial and weapons sanction on North Korea on Saturday to punish Pyongyang for its underground nuclear test on Monday. The vote was a unanimous 15-0.
Here are the highlights of the resolution:
* Calls upon countries to take “cooperative” action through inspection of cargo to and from North Korea to prevent illicit trafficking in nuclear, chemical or biological weapons and related materials.
* Decides that North Korea should abandon all nuclear weapons and existing nuclear programs and ballistic missiles programs in a “complete, verifiable and irreversible” manner.
* Bans trade with North Korea on battle tanks, armored combat vehicles, large caliber artillery systems, combat aircraft, attack helicopters, warships, missiles or missile systems.
* Ban trade with North Korea in all items, materials, equipment, goods and technology that could contribute to the country’s nuclear-related, ballistic missile-related or other weapons of mass destruction-related programs.
* Bans luxury goods going to North Korea.
* Decides all countries should freeze funds, other financial assets and economic resources that are owned, controlled, directly or indirectly by people engaged in or providing support for North Korea’s unconventional weapons.
* Allow a travel ban on people and their families supporting or promoting North Korea’s policies on dangerous weapons programs, providing names are approved by a Security Council sanctions committee.
* Encourages efforts to intensify diplomatic efforts, refrain from any actions that might aggravate tension and to facilitate the early resumption of the six-party talks — between North Korea, South Korea, the United States, Russia, China and Japan — aimed at convincing Pyongyang to abandon its nuclear ambitions.
Meanwhile North Korea stated that they “totally rejects the unjustifiable resolution”….which is no surprise.
Good news all around. While this resolution doesn’t carry with it the threat of military action it does carry out a limited blockade, which is sorely needed. But if the Chinese don’t help us in blockading the land route out of and into North Korea then this resolution will do nothing. Kim will just move products in and out via land. Guess the ball is in China’s court and I am not to sure they will be hitting it out of the park.
Regarding that luxury goods ban Bolton said:
“The North Korean population’s been losing average height and weight over the years, and maybe this will be a little diet for Kim Jong Il.”
Classic!
Hot Air also has video up of Bolton telling the council that the NK Representative leaving the chamber in a huff was akin to Khrushchev pounding the UN table with his shoe.
Here is the video of the North Korean Representative calling the resolution “gangster like” and considers it a “declaration of war”:
UPDATE
This statement from the Chinese ambassador does not give me great confidence that they will do much to blockade any land routes:
“I think we have some concern about what this resolution might lead to, especially peace and stability in the region,” Wang Guangya, the Chinese ambassador, said before entering a Saturday morning meeting of Japan and the five permanent Council members, Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States.
He said that China was insisting on terms that were “firm” but also “appropriate,” a reference to Beijing’s worry that punishing steps could produce a backlash from North Korea.
He said that Beijing was particularly concerned about the resolution’s authorizing the international inspections of cargo going into and out of North Korea. “Once it comes into operation, it could easily lead, by one side or the other, to a provocation of conflict, which could have serious implications for the region, for the countries,” he said.

The only thing I can think of to say about this is: It is about time. Balls in North Korea’s court now and I have to wonder what next?…
