The Iranian Front In The War On Terror

First there was news that the bodies of Iranian soldiers killed in Lebanon were shipped back to Iran:

Lebanese intelligence officials say the bodies of as many as nine Iranian Revolutionary Guard soldiers killed by the Israeli Army in Lebanon were transported to Syria last week to be flown to Tehran for burial. What’s more, Jordanian officials tell The New York Sun that they’re “100 percent sure” Iranians have fired rockets on Israel, and that the Syrian army has provided Hezbollah with intelligence information on possible Israeli targets, while Israel says Iranian soldiers’ duties include watching over Iran’s long-range rockets — which are capable of reaching Tel Aviv.

The Iranian government, meanwhile, continues to deny that its soldiers are anywhere near Lebanon.

Then news of Iranian equipment being found in Hezbollah war rooms:

Brigadier General of Division 91 Commander Gal Hirsch revealed on Tuesday that troops operating in Bint Jbeil discovered war rooms with eavesdropping and surveillance equipment made by Iran, being used by Hizbullah against Israel.

They also found large cache of weapons and communications devices.

And today the Israeli’s announced that sophisticated tunnel networks made with the help of Iran were found:

ISRAELI forces trying to root out militant Hezbollah fighters from southern Lebanon have uncovered sophisticated “Viet Cong-style” tunnel networks and encountered fierce resistance they say indicates the presence of Iranian military advisers.

In its latest report on the fighting, British-based security and intelligence journal Jane’s Defence Weekly cites a “senior defence source” who claims that what the Israeli army is facing in Lebanon is not a militia force but “rather a special forces brigade of the Iranian army”.

Jane’s reports Israeli forces have discovered a well-established network of tunnels and trenches with entrances often disguised inside dwellings.

Jane’s correspondent Alon Ben-David told The Australian the tunnels were deep enough for the Islamic militant group to survive Israeli artillery and aerial bombardment.

Mr Ben-David said that, while no hard evidence of Iranians fighting on the frontlines had been uncovered so far, Israeli defence sources were adamant they were active in rear areas assisting with arms procurement and working close with Hezbollah in their Beirut headquarters.

He said senior Israeli military sources were also convinced Iranian military help was behind the “radar targeting” required for the July 14 missile attack last week against an Israeli ship off the Lebanon coast.

“We know for certain they (Iranians) are in the Bekaa Valley as instructors but there is no proof they are present in south Lebanon,” he said.

The Bekaa, long regarded as Lebanon’s bread basket, lies 30km east of Beirut. It is a notable centre of operations for Hezbollah, which advocates the creation of an Islamic state in Lebanon.

Does anyone doubt that Iran is behind Hezbollah’s ability to target Israeli cities deep into Israel, or the ability of Hezbollah to even have a fighting chance against a well armed and well trained army like the Israeli’s?

Iran was behind this whole episode to begin with, so no one should be shocked that we are seeing their footprints now. They wanted to divert attention from their Nuclear program, and they have succeeded. What they have not yet succeeded at as of yet is creating the Shiite empire they so desperately want.

Shiite Iran wants nothing more than to stab itself into the heart of the largely Sunni Muslim-Arab world and take control of it. Vali Nasr, a professor at the Naval Postgraduate School and an expert on the Shiite revival, warns that the whole Middle East is at risk of a “sectarian conflict between Shiites and Sunnis.”

I agree with those Mideast experts who warn that Tehran’s real goal is to create what Jordan’s King Abdullah calls a “Shiite crescent,” an Iranian-led band of nations stretching from Pakistan through Iran to Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and ultimately Palestine. This Shiite empire would try to dominate and rule the entire Middle East. Israel, which Iran’s extremist President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has frequently sworn he wants to “wipe off the map,” would be the immediate target. But the true full aim would be an Iranian hegemony that would eventually eclipse and take over such moderate, pro-Western Sunni Arab states as Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

That, in Iranian thinking, would severely hobble America – second only to Israel in Tehran’s list of hates. Let’s not forget that Iranian-backed Hezbollah’s first major attack was the 1983 bombing of the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut, which killed 241 people.

The missile that killed four Israeli’s sailors on July 15th was a Iranian missile. Hezbollah’s long range missiles are commanded by Iranian Revolutionary Guards. Iran finances and trains Hezbollah terrorists. For all intents and purposes Hezbollah is a arm of the Iranian state.

This is Iran’s war, plain and simple.

And another front on the War on Terror. Those who call for Israel to negotiate a cease fire before their country is truly safe are doing a disservice to those who want to rid this world of terror. Instead we must stand behind Israel, and our soldiers in Iraq, who are both fighting this war….
