In an earlier post, I made mention of this. Since then, I had learned that the person putting this together is none other than Kat of Yikes! fame. She is the best friend that our military could possibly have. As of her e-mail from 2 days ago, she mentioned that she had only received 15 e-mails of support to put into the gift scrapbook she is making for the family of the fallen hero. So I implore anyone reading this to take one minute of your time and send over a letter of support to Honor_a_hero@yahoo.com. Here, in part, is what she wrote me:
Since you are not local (I’m doing this for a local family, trying to stay anonymous so the family does not find out…this is going to be a gift to them for what would have been his 24th birthday), I would like to share with you this tribute I wrote for this dear fallen Soldier.

God bless you – thank you for helping out. anything you can do to help get the word out about this project would be GREATLY appreciated…so far, i only have 15 emails, and need many more. I’m going to be putting together three scrapbooks…one for mom, one for dad adn one for his very young widow…. so, the more emails I can get, the better……
Don’t forget to read the link. Kat is a beautiful soul to care so deeply about those who stand in harm’s way to protect the rest of us here at home.
A former fetus, the “wordsmith from nantucket” was born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1968. Adopted at birth, wordsmith grew up a military brat. He achieved his B.A. in English from the University of California, Los Angeles (graduating in the top 97% of his class), where he also competed rings for the UCLA mens gymnastics team. The events of 9/11 woke him from his political slumber and malaise. Currently a personal trainer and gymnastics coach.
The wordsmith has never been to Nantucket.
You’re right, Curt…it is EXTREMELY difficult to know what to say…words seem so INADEQUATE, you know? But I do know for a fact, that even a simple expression of thanks, and an assurance that his sacrifice will nnot be forgoten, means the world. (sorry for typoes…. it’s 1:21 a.m. est and i don’t have my glasses on & am half-asleep, hhhahaha….)
I’m writing one at the moment Kat, it can be difficult finding the right words to convey your heartfelt gratitude for the sacrifices made.
OMG Wordsmith! Ya done gone and made me cry — sayin’ all those way-too-kind things about me! Shucks… I’m just trying to give honor, where honor is due. We owe EVERYTHING to our military…they need to know we are proud of them and APPRECIATE THEM.
MikeK — Please just send your email to Honor_a_hero@yahoo.com. That’s the special account I have set up for this project.
Now, I’m up to 17 emails… better than the 15 I had, but more is definitely needed… I want to positively OVERWHELM this sweet family with support from all over the U.S.
Thanks for helping to get the word out….
Tried to leave a message using the contact form they said to use, but it errors out.
