The MSM Wrong Once Again

Another day and another breathless MSM report about how a civil war in Iraq is just around the corner:

A series of suicide attacks, car bombs and mortar barrages rocked Baghdad on Tuesday, killing at least 66 people and wounding scores as Iraq teetered on the brink of sectarian civil war.

Which is quite curious indeed when the eye-popping report written yesterday in the Washington Post which claimed 1300 people had died as a result of the Mosque violence:

Grisly attacks and other sectarian violence unleashed by last week’s bombing of a Shiite Muslim shrine have killed more than 1,300 Iraqis, making the past few days the deadliest of the war outside of major U.S. offensives, according to Baghdad’s main morgue. The toll was more than three times higher than the figure previously reported by the U.S. military and the news media.

was debunked:

The Washington Post reported Tuesday that more than 1,300 Iraqis had been killed since then, but Tuesday?s Cabinet statement described that account as ?inaccurate and exaggerated.?

The Post cited figures from the Baghdad central morgue, but an official there told The Associated Press that as of Sunday night they had received only 249 bodies tied to the violence. The Post figure appeared high based on police and hospital reports from the major population centers at the time of the attacks.

I guess it was just a clerical error that made the Post add 1,000 people to the toll. They wouldn’t want to bring any bias into the mix would they? Sigh.

It doesn’t appear that the MSM is making any attempt to differentiate between the typical terrorist attacks and the violence brought on by the Mosque destruction. They are apparently lumping everything together so they can make it seem much worse then it is, and in effect make Bush’s policies look bad. Sure, the terrorists are probably taking advantage of the situation to bring about the civil war they want so badly but I would think the MSM would at least TRY to get things right.

Oh, who am I kidding, we know they never try to get things right. They just spin what they want to spin to further their own agendas.
