Looks like another Eason Jordon has come out of the woodwork, this time it is the International President of the Newspaper Guild and president of Communications Workers of America, the nation’s largest broadcast and journalism workers union. Her name – Linda Foley. Being that she is the president of two huge unions she should be considered a big time player.
Last Friday while speaking at the 2005 National Conference for Media Reform (Get that, a conference for Media Reform!) she made the following claim:
“Journalists, by the way, are not just being targeted verbally or ?ah, or? ah, politically. They are also being targeted for real, um?in places like Iraq. What outrages me as a representative of journalists is that there’s not more outrage about the number, and the brutality, and the cavalier nature of the U.S. military toward the killing of journalists in Iraq.”
“They target and kill journalists?uh, from other countries, particularly Arab countries like Al -, like Arab news services like Al-Jazeera, for example. They actually target them and blow up their studios with impunity?”
If anyone is being deliberately targeted it appears its our troops by the liberal media. To see the video of this idiot go here (via Say Anything).
Of course now she is backpeddling big time, to save her own skin. She told Editor & Publisher today:
When asked if she believed U.S. troops had targeted journalists in Iraq, she said, ?I was careful of not saying troops, I said U.S. military. Could I have said it differently? There are 100 different ways of saying this, but I?m not sure they would have appeased the right.?
So saying the US military instead of troops mean exactly what? The US Military is made up of troops so wtf is this lady saying. If this lady didn’t learn from Eason Jordon then she is a moron. Then tack on the above statement, and you have to wonder how the hell she could be qualified to run two large unions.
If you watch the longer video of her remarks she starts off with blaming the big bad Republicans for targeting reporters then moves onto the US Military targets reporters, and ends her diatribe with blaming mega-corporate influence. Sounds like she is a card carrying moonbat.
How about this, we can all agree that killing non-combatants is bad. How about journalists and their ilk who we trust to deliver us unbiased news but instead only report unsubstantiated rumor, such as the Newsweek recent report that killed over a dozen people over one sentence. Can we all agree that this is bad also?
Linda Foley better be able to provide evidence of her accusations or her head will roll on this one, and it will be well deserved.
