Rummy & Iraq

I read
Blackfive’s blog today about the opinions some of his military friends have about Iraq and Rumsfield. It’s a great post but I didn’t agree with much, neither did 2Slick (welcome back btw, great to see you blogging again). 2Slick put his arguments more eleqouently then I and added some things that didn’t occur to me quite frankly.

The first argument Blackfive’s friends made were that the entire military force needed for the conflict should be mobilized for the duration of the war plus 6 months. I can understand the sentiment, since a soldier knowing that he has a set date to come home would have better morale but our objective was to defeat Saddam and then make sure Iraq is stable before we leave. If that country is not stable when we leave then the country will collapse into civil war and the whole war would of been a waste. How would it be possible to put this idea into effect then? Just don’t see it.

The troop strength argument I won’t comment on since I am not that well informed about this subject. The last argument about Rumsfield resigning is just plain silly to me. As 2Slick noted, he presided over the most successful military operation we’ve had in a long time, plus the dismantling of the Taliban, the capture of Saddam and so on. I agree completely with his assessment that the military needs to change with the times. We do not need a cold war army anymore. If they are talking about the armor flap then the whole argument is even sillier. Every soldier, myself included, had to make do with what we had. I now work for the 2nd largest law enforcement agency in the country and our equipment sucks ass. Computers that are 1980’s era, old shotguns, radio cars with 100k miles on them but we make do. No soldier, no cop will have all the equipment he needs for every situation. That whole incident was made for tv drama produced by our lovely MSM. I hope Rumsfield stays on for the next term.

SCARS

Via Ace Of Spades comes this article about Viktor Yushchenko, the new President of the Ukraine, who said the following:

“Frankly, I can’t get used to this face, and I don’t think I ever will get used to it,” he told a media conference in Strasbourg after addressing the parliament of the 46-member state Council of Europe.

“But,” he added, “we are men and we don’t make a big deal over our scars.”

I like this guy even better.

MICHAEL FATASS

I am shocked that the hollywood community didn’t vote this idiot’s film into the academy awards. Makes me think that some in hollywood can actually have some intelligence.

THE MSM IDIOTS AT IT AGAIN

Via Little Green Footballs comes this headline of the Asswipe Propaganda (AP)

al-Qaida Official Admits to U.N. Assault

It was up on the AP’s website early in the day then pulled according to LGF but The Guardian picked it up. Nothing surprises me anymore with the MSM, now a terrorist organization has officials.
