President Obama, Friday, early afternoon, when asked if he was blaming Europe for the failure of his own economic policies: “The truth of the matter is, as I’ve said, we’ve created 4.3 million jobs the last 27 months…The private sector is doing fine.”
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of Republicans who criticize President Obama‘s support for the failed solar firm Solyndra: “[Republicans are] the ones who say they’re risk takers. Now, all of a sudden, they’re saying, `Don’t take risks.’ ”
Obama Deputy Campaign Manager Stephanie Cutter defended President Obama‘s investment in green energy companies like Solyndra: “The president was making investments for the country, because he’s not going to cede an entire industry to China and India. And as a result the company – country is prospering.”
George Will: “We have a president who believes, because he says so, that ATMs and airport ticket kiosks cause unemployment. So that gives you some sense of his grasp of how the economy works.“
George Will: “Mr. Obama, the night he clinched the nomination, said this will be the moment when the rise of the seas stop. Well, if he can stop the seas from rising, why can’t he bring down the gas prices?”
In a post at Just One Minute, Tom Maguire suggests that the NY Times took its finger off the scales of justice.
Either the NY Times needs to tear out the front page or they have just delivered an epic fail. In either case, they have delivered a tilt to the scales of justice.
Rush Limbaugh: “I’m a guy on the radio. What can I do? I can’t raise anybody’s taxes. I can’t send anybody off to war. I can’t force anybody to go out and buy a $50 light bulb. Occupy Wall Street in Los Angeles protester Patricia McAllister (employee of Los Angeles Unified School District) “I think that the Zionist Jews, who are running these big banks and our Federal Reserve, which is not run by the federal government. . . . they need to be run out of this country.”
Al Gore: “We need to have an American spring, you know, the Arab spring. The non-violent part of it isn’t finished yet, but we need to have an American spring. A kind of an American Tahrir Square. Non-violent change where people from the grassroots get involved again. Not the, you know, not in the Tea Party style.” Just not real grass roots; just not grass roots movements that disagree with him.
Chris Matthews: “Aren’t you worried, though, that in a world where we have to compete with science, in science and technology with Chinese and Indian young geniuses, and some of them move here, and some that are still over in their countries around the world, we’re competing in a world of science and technology to be a country that might be led by someone who doesn’t believe in evolution? Who doesn’t believe in climate change? Who doesn’t believe in the scientific community of his own country, the National Academy of Science, for example, on climate change? Wouldn’t that be kind of scary to have somebody who is so anti-intellectual as president?”
Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) statement: “The current, so-called `debt crisis’ has been completely manufactured by House Republicans attempting to advance an extremist agenda. This should be a simple vote to allow the US Treasury to fund all of the programs and obligations of the entire federal government that are already in the law.”
Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi statement: “It is clear we must enter an era of austerity; to reduce the deficit through shared sacrifice.”
