First lady Michelle Obama to her husband: “You had BBQ?  You didn’t tell me you had BBQ.”

President Obama: “Too many children can no longer expect to join the middle class, the president said, no matter if they work hard and play by the rules.”  It is difficult to determine if these are his exact words.  They are attributed to him, but without quotes.  However, what this means is, what he has done so far for Americans has not worked. Say What? November 7, 2011 Edition [Reader Post]

Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi: “I think it’s really important to know that President Obama was a job creator from day one.  Now, was the ditch that we were in so deep that when you’re talking to people and they still don’t have a job, that that’s any consolation to them?  No.  But I’ll tell you this, if President Obama and the House congressional Democrats had not acted, we would be at 15 percent unemployment. Again, no consolation to those without a job, but an important point to make.” Continue reading

President Barack Obama, for about the 100th time: “This jobs bill is fully paid for. This jobs bill contains the kinds of proposals that Democrats and Republicans have supported in the past. And now, I want it back. It is time for Congress to get its act together and pass this jobs bill so I can sign it into law.” Continue reading

President Barack Obama, helping to explain the devastating unemployment numbers: “There’s some structural issues with our economy where a lot of businesses have learned to become much more efficient with a lot fewer workers…You see it when you go to a bank and … you use an ATM, you don’t go to a bank teller. Or you go to the airport, and you’re using a kiosk instead of checking in at the gate”

President Obama: “Shovel-ready was not as shovel-ready as we expected.” Continue reading

Mike Huckabee: “It is a good thing that the last thing to go through Osama bin Laden’s mind was an American bullet.”

Liberals:

NY Times editorial: “The killing of Osama bin Laden provoked a host of reactions from Americans: celebration, triumph, relief, closure and renewed grief. One reaction, however, was both cynical and disturbing: crowing by the apologists and practitioners of torture that Bin Laden’s death vindicated their immoral and illegal behavior after the Sept. 11 attacks. ”

Singer Sheryl Crow: “It’s just fascinating that we have a black man, who has Muslim ties with his father, even though he’s a Christian, it’s amazing how far our country has come, that that’s the man who took down Osama bin Laden. It makes you feel very patriotic. I do think that if it were any other president, I might feel different about it. But, he’s one of the most conscious [conscientious?] people I’ve ever met, and I’ve met four presidents now. He walks the walk.” Continue reading

Barack Obama: “We contribute to programs like Medicare and Social Security, which guarantee us health care and a measure of basic income after a lifetime of hard work; unemployment insurance, which protects us against unexpected job loss; and Medicaid, which provides care for millions of seniors in nursing homes, poor children, and those with disabilities. We are a better country because of these commitments. I’ll go further – we would not be a great country without those commitments.”

Obama: “I don’t need another tax cut.” The President lives rent-free with no out-of-pocket costs to be paid toward food, transportation, staff, vacations. Continue reading

Say What? 2/1/2011 edition. [Reader Post]

Finally, Democrats stopped with the crazy talk and the violent rhetoric. Just kidding.

Democrat Rep Jim Moran: “It [Republican victories in November] happened … for the same reason the Civil War happened in the United States. Southern states, particularly the slaveholding states, didn’t want to see a president who was opposed to slavery. In this case a lot of people in this country, it’s my belief, don’t want to be governed by an African-American, particularly one who is inclusive, who is liberal, who wants to spend money on everyone and who wants to reach out to include everyone in our society. And that’s a basic philosophical clash.” Continue reading
