Bill Moyers, PBS host: “The killer in Colorado waited only for an opportunity. And there you have it. The arsenal of democracy transformed into the arsenal of death. And the NRA — the NRA is the enabler of death. Paranoid, delusional, and as venomous as a scorpion.”
Bill O’Reilly: “Moyers has no clue, no clue at all. He apparently believes that federal and state governments can actually control gun crimes. That’s so dumb it hurts. Chicago has banned handguns in public. How is that working out, Bill? So far this year… 1,136 shootings. How about your state, Bill? New York? Well, it has a fourth toughest gun law in the country, it sounds good doesn’t it? Ready 2011, nearly 4,000 guns were confiscated by New York City cops. Just in the city… 4,000 guns. Yes, those tough gun laws, they’re working great, aren’t they? …You’re a genius, Bill. PBS is very lucky to have you.”
Mark Steyn: “The definition of a ‘nano-second, is the time between a mass shooting and some guy from the left blaming it on talk radio, or Sarah Palin, or Fox News.’ “
AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka: “Let’s call this right-wing ‘freedom’ catch phrase what it really is: a grossly political strategy to dupe the public, which holds the word ‘freedom’ as something sacred.” He further warned that people might opt out of social security, out of a union or out of paying union dues.
Joy Behar, on The View, discussing the Dream Act and making some illegal immigrants legal: “But what about the kids who were born here?”
Marco Rubio: “Well, the kids who are born here are U.S. citizens.” Maybe it is just me, but I laughed when I heard this.
George Will: “We have a president who believes, because he says so, that ATMs and airport ticket kiosks cause unemployment. So that gives you some sense of his grasp of how the economy works.“
George Will: “Mr. Obama, the night he clinched the nomination, said this will be the moment when the rise of the seas stop. Well, if he can stop the seas from rising, why can’t he bring down the gas prices?”
Jodi Miller: “White House spokesman Jay Carney said, that most of President Obama’s time is not spent campaigning, and he’s right. Most of the president’s time is spent playing golf, vacationing, apologizing to our enemies, and running our economy into the ground.”
Rush Limbaugh: “I’m a guy on the radio. What can I do? I can’t raise anybody’s taxes. I can’t send anybody off to war. I can’t force anybody to go out and buy a $50 light bulb. I can’t make anybody give up their car and buy an electric car. I can’t make anybody do anything, and yet I have to be destroyed.”
Democratic chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz: “[Contraception costs] about $700 a year. That’s real money.”
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius: “[Free contraception] is a no-cost benefit, that…actually is a cost reducer.”
Rush Limbaugh: “We need a morning-after pill for presidential elections.”
President Barack Obama: “We’ve already seen change take pace. 2012 is about reminding the American people how far we’ve traveled.”
DNC Chief Wasserman Schultz: “Frankly, the collection of Republicans that are running for president really are pretty unremarkable. They all embrace extremism and embrace the Tea Party.”
