Bypassing Democrats hiding out in Illinois, Wisconsin Senate Republicans voted Wednesday night to strip state workers of their collective bargaining rights.

All 14 Senate Democrats fled to Illinois nearly three weeks ago, preventing the chamber from having enough members present to consider Gov. Scott Walker’s so-called “budget repair bill” — a proposal introduced to plug a $137 million budget shortfall..

Won’t be long till the leftist vistors here scream, “Republicans broke the law!” in cliched Parrot manner. This measure to remove the fiscal portions of the bill and relocating that to a different provision was a gutsy move, to say the least.

Unbelieveable. They stripped out all budgetary content, which was what they claimed it was really all about,
and passed the ONE thing that has met with the strongest and widest public disapproval.

I applaud Wisconsin republicans for their decision to commit political suicide.

We’ll see in 2012 and after the attempts of recalls on some Republican Senators if this is Political Suicide or not. Only time will tell, but I highly doubt there’ll be a massive sweeping out of Republicans… something’s just itchin at the notion that Public opinion over this matter in WI isn’t what the opponents of the provision are claiming it to be.

The measure forbids most government workers from collectively bargaining for wage increases beyond the rate of inflation.
It also requires public workers to pay more toward their pensions and double their health insurance contribution, a combination equivalent to an 8 percent pay cut for the average worker.

Police and firefighters are exempt.

This allows cities and counties to balance their budgets as well as the state.
Remember, it was the union forcing its own medical trust on school districts that had put so many districts into the red.
A double-dip of union dues to dem causes as the trust was also manned by unionistas.
As I recall from previous posts here, this one change will free up ~ $1 million per district to go to educating children.
Money that went down the union rat-hole.
And, teachers can get the exact same coverage from other health care plans for that much less cost to the taxpayers!

This is catching on across the country.

Okay, the Demmies are pissed….they got what was coming to them when they ABANDONED the state. So now they’ll come to Wisconsin. Guess what? If they do, it’s a QUOROM and the other half of the bill can be voted upon! SUCKERS!!!!

Brilliant!!!! A fine chess move governor 🙂
