All universities are not the same. Some are a total joke and a waste of money, some are serious and make you think (e.g., University of Chicago – at least before Austan Goolsbee). All schools are not the same with in universities. Education, liberal arts, social science (except economics), cultural studies, etc. are a waste.
The real problem is that schools don’t advertise their placement rates. Engineering, for the most part, is difficult and leads to no jobs. Law school is the same. Art?
I was at a restaurant where our server was a 22 year old music major from a private university. I asked “What are you going to do with a music degree?” She said “Get married.” There are no jobs for music majors.
Plus employers get all giggly when they see you have a degree.
