Obamacare architect wants us all to die at 75

Loading

Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, one of the primary medical professionals who shaped Obamacare, writes in the current Atlantic Magazine that he wants to die at 75. The implication of his argument is you should too.He admits right off the bat that his friends and close relatives, including his famous brothers (Rahm and Ari, one the mayor of Chicago, the other arguably the mayor of Hollywood entertainment industry) and his parents, think either the idea is crazy or he is crazy.But Zeke is serious. This is how he argues living older than 75 is bad:

“Living too long is also a loss. It renders many of us, if not disabled, then faltering and declining, a state that may not be worse than death but is nonetheless deprived. It robs us of our creativity and ability to contribute to work, society, the world. It transforms how people experience us, relate to us, and, most important, remember us. We are no longer remembered as vibrant and engaged but as feeble, ineffectual, even pathetic.”

This is reminiscent of the former Governor of Colorado, Richard Lamm, who thirty years ago shocked the nation by telling a medical conference  that the old have a duty to die. ”You’ve got a duty to die and get out of the way,” Lamm said in 1984. ”Let the other society, our kids, build a reasonable life.” It should be noted Dick Lamm is still among us at age 79, and that he never gave a specific age at which a person’s “duty to die” should occur.But Zeke Emanuel’s neo-duty-to-die declaration is much more dangerous than Lamm’s three decades ago. Lamm was not in charge in fundamentally transforming the American health care system. Emanuel was, and he did. We now have a system of health care that reflects his fundamental beliefs about how much health care resources should go to the young and how much to the old.

You probably could forgive Lamm with having too much to drink. (He used to go to Cheyenne, drink up a storm and have his State Patrol driver bring him home.)

As for Emanuel, he truly believes in it.

He is a disgusting, slimy liar. As I have mentioned before, I have debated with him at a medical conference, and he has all the integrity of a democrat telling you he opposes tax increases, abortion and gun control before an election.

His statements – and efforts in helping write obamacare – are definitive of the evil that is leftism. If Zeke wants to forego medical care and die at 75, he is totally within his rights to do that. What he does NOT have is a right to impose his choice upon everyone else via statist control of medical care. Leftists, however, are so deranged in their self-absorption that they are convinced they – and only they – have the cognitive ability and the moral right to determine how everyone else is allowed to live their lives.

It is hard to imagine a more reprehensible person currently alive. The savage jihadist butchers and money-grubbing abortionists are of the same caliber as Ezekiel Emmanuel.

Emanuel believes that anyone outside their age of prime productivity (under 12 or over 65) should be denied medical care if that medical care is of limited availability. Of course, his beliefs are pure Marxism. If you can not produce, you are no longer a benefit to society as a whole, and you should just agree to be put into a grave.

Obviously, Emanuel subscribes to the rules that George Bernard Shaw, communist and eugenicist, thought should apply to humanity:

“You must all know half a dozen people at least who are no use in this world, who are more trouble than they are worth. Just put them there and say Sir, or Madam, now will you be kind enough to justify your existence?
If you can’t justify your existence, if you’re not pulling your weight, and since you won’t, if you’re not producing as much as you consume or perhaps a little more, then, clearly, we cannot use the organizations of our society for the purpose of keeping you alive, because your life does not benefit us and it can’t be of very much use to yourself.”

Emanuel, like Shaw, believed that a person’s value was strictly gauged on their ability to produce a value to all of society, not just themselves.

I believe that all medical advancement is truly a gift from God. God gives researchers/doctors/medical professionals the mental ability to create those things that allow us to live longer with a better quality of life. I know many, many seniors who may not “produce” in the basic sense of the word, but who mentor troubled children, work at food drives for the poor, serve as tutors for kids having trouble with math/science classes, act as Hospice workers for the terminally ill, and do any number of things that help others because they have the time as retired seniors.

Yet, Emanuel, like Shaw, try to diminish their value based on nothing but their advanced years. And Emanuel is the guy that had Obama’s ear, as well as the ear of major Democrats, when Obamacare was constructed. That alone is reason to fear the true goals of Obamacare.

Ironically Rahm’s parents are still both alive, in their 80’s and vibrant.
Has he run this by them?
How will he feel if he’s also hale and healthy at 74 and 11/12ths?

@Nanny+G:

Emanuel, like all progressive elites, doesn’t really apply his philosophy to him or his. Remember, even when the Marxists were pushing equality, there was still the politburo who lived quite well.

It’s called a death panel and it will happen unless 0-blamacare is repealed!!

Also fits right in with the turd reich

I suggest that you need to add “and the DemocRAT Party” to the end!

You have overlooked the fact that they are part of the 'elite' — like the dipwad senators that hang on into their 80's and 90's — as well as the rotten MSM!

It just kills liberals and atheists to see a man like Truett Cathy live to be 92, or Mother Teresa live to be 87, or GHW Bush still jumping out of airplanes at 90. Personally, I think 75 is too long to allow people like the Emanuels to stay alive, considering the damage they inflict on others; they deserve a hearing before the Death Panel they created.

My father in law is 82 and still trains horses. My mother in law is 80 and cooks (great), makes dresses (just made adjustments to my niece’s wedding dress) and makes stained glass articles as a hobby.

Maybe Zeke should take their place in the ground. No doubt, the planet would benefit.

That’s the problem with socialism; socialists think they get to decide all aspects of an individual’s life.

@Bill: Wisdom is a huge asset and these wonderful people have it!! My mother is 92 and NO one has to take care of her!!

@Bill:

and death – from conception (actually even pre-conception) AND death! — They used to say “cradle to grave” The communist a$$holes have gotten to way before the cradle! And these same SOB’s are the first to scream out about government getting into some bedroom.

I tried to tell people that the death panel was in the bill/law (I read it). It isn’t called a death panel, but it is there all the same. The obamacare law is predicated on the young and healthy to sustain the program. Those who are older, have terminal or congenital diseases place a burden on the health care system. If you want to sustain the program, you need to get rid of those who are pulling it down. Just like in the UK, they ration health care for the elderly. They either don’t get care or by the time they get it, they are dead.

I watched a conversation while obamacare was still a bill, a democrat congressmen on the house floor said that abortion had to be in the bill because babies being born placed a burden on the system. Too many people and too many ill people are not good for this program/law, whatever you want to call it.

Remember during the town hall meeting when a woman was explaining about her 95 year old mother getting surgery to obama? He couldn’t understand why she just wasn’t given a pain pill and left in a corner to die.

Maybe now some people are waking up. doubtful for those who continue to keep their head in the sand, but they too will wake up when it affects their family members. Not until something hits someone either in their wallet or in their family unit do they believe it is real (regardless what it is).

@enchanted:

The obamacare law is predicated on the young and healthy to sustain the program pogrom.

There, enchanted, fixed it for you.

@enchanted: Nazi style death camps are just around the corner —

Obamacare’s death panels were no doubt inspired by the film “Logan’s Run.” The “Hero” was a firm follower of socialist enforced euthanasia when a citizen reached a certain age, right up until his time came up. The rest of the film is his battle to survive against his fellow Democrats, which forces him to rethink his values and become a freedom loving conservative.

I remember a series on History Channel on Japan’s living treasures. Citizens, who were much older that this dirt bag wants us to live, making huge contributions to society, art and history. If Zeke want’s to go at 75, maybe he would make a bigger impact by just going now. My guess he will be going to every doctor and life specialist when he is in his 70’s. The shoe fits different when it is on you own foot.
