Obama Adminstration Specifically Denied Exception to Permit Veterans to Attend WWII Memorial

Ace:

Before we go any further, let us note once again how contrived it is to shut down entryways to a wide open space out in the middle of a park.

This is not a building, like a museum, that has doors and staffers and guides. This is fucking scenery.

And yet the erected artificial barriers to block people from walking through outdoor scenery.

Voila! Now we can pretend a memorial standing unsupervised out in the open is a “National Park” or “Open Air Museum” and close it to pedestrian traffic (and people can in fact just walk through this thing in their normal transversing of the city).

Now, that out of the way: They then took the next step.

When they were informed that the Honor Flight was on the way, and that they should make one exception for the veterans of WWII and open up the artificial barriers they had erected to make a political pointthey refused.

Palazzo, a Gulf War Marine veteran who has participated in all five of the Honor Flights, blames the White House for making it harder on veterans and playing politics. “At first I thought it was a huge bureaucratic oversight,” Palazzo told The Daily Caller, “but having talked with the officials I can’t help but think this was politically motivated. Honor Flights, which bring WWII veterans to the nation’s memorials, are planned a year in advance and cost anywhere between $80,000 to $100,000. How low can you get with playing politics over our nation’s veterans?”In a statement, Palazzo noted that he is introducing legislation to ensure that all Honor Flights are granted access this week. “This is an open-air memorial that the public has 24/7 access to under normal circumstances — even when Park Service personnel aren’t present,” Palazzo said in the statement. “It actually requires more effort and expense to shut out these veterans from their Memorial than it would to simply let them through. My office has been in touch with NPS officials and the Administration to try to resolve this issue.”

There are no “schedule hours” for scenery. The monument does not close on weekends, or at night.

It was Obama’s ”shutdown theater.”
There is more to come later this month:

“The Germans and the Japanese couldn’t contain us. They weren’t going to let barriers contain them today. They wanted to see their memorial,” says Armstrong.

Honor Flight of Northwest Ohio has a trip scheduled to depart from Toledo next Wednesday, October 9.

“We will make the call this Friday to determine if the flight is still a go, or if we will have to re-schedule,” Armstrong explains.

He says they are considering going ahead with the trip even if the government is still on shutdown, but when he called the parks service, he was told they would face arrest.

Armstrong says, “I said, are you kidding me? You’re going to arrest a 90/91-year-old veteran from seeing his memorial? If it wasn’t for them it wouldn’t be there. She said, ‘That’s correct sir.'”

When he asked for her name, he says she did not give it to him and then promptly hung up the phone.

that’s spitefull to prevent the VETERANS TO GO WHERE THEY GO
EVERY YEAR, IT TAKE A
MUSLIM WHO HATE AMERICA TO GIVE AN ORDER LIKE IT,

Up until about midnight Obama was still scheduled to go to Asia, but now British media reports he has cancelled his trip…..or postponed it.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-24362141
Some interesting moves happened yesterday:
A Congressman opened barracades so WWII veterans could see their own memorial.
A bunch of Congressmen decided to forgo their paychecks until the shutdown is over.
Ford Motor Company took over the cost of keeping the National Zoo’s giant panda cam going.
http://nationalzoo.si.edu/animals/webcams/giant-panda.cfm?cam=panda03

This proves that once again Obama decided to exact as much pain as possible from this mess and not to lessen it.

obama trying to block his enemies from going to the World War II memorial didn’t come as a surprise to me. When obama was running for president the first time, he wouldn’t wear the American flag pin, or put his hand over his heart when the National Anthem was played, and he said he wants a civilian national security force that was as strong as the military. THINK ABOUT THAT!!! He wants a civilian force that can defeat the military. Could this be what the billions of rounds of ammo, thousands of weapons, and thousands of armored vehicles the different federal departments are buying are for? That is more rounds than the Army has, and enough rounds to shoot every person in the USA 5-6 times.

When he said that, I knew right then that he wants to turn the USA into a non-free country. He sees the military as his enemy standing in the way of him becoming king. He bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia.

He wants people to bow to him like Brian Williams did.

When he was president, and awarded a medal to a Navy corpsman, he mispronounced “corpsman”. He mispronounced it a second time a few days later. Has this guy ever seen a war movie? If so, I wonder which side he was rooting for.

obama wanted the military to pay for their own medical insurance, and he sides with the Muslims all of the time. He has Muslims, socialists, and union members in his administration.

I have often thought that it must be very hard for obama to award medals to people he sees as his enemies. It would be like George Bush having to award a medal to a terrorist.

@Smorgasbord:

George W. Bush loved the troops, and he continues to show, and hated the terrorists. Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. appoints people to important offices who not only supports the terrorists but gives terrorists hand signals in their pictures. Perhaps we should count the number of Muslim Brotherhood who hold high positions in this administration.

HE HAS 7 MILLIONS MUSLIMS FOR HIS ARMY,
AND THEY ARE STILL COMING IN FROM THE BORDERS AND FROM ALL THE MOSQUES KEEPERS,
AT LEAST ONE MILLION ALREADY ENLISTED,
THOSE WHO WANTED TO MARCH TO THE 9/11 SITE THIS SEPTEMBER,

@retire05: Well said!! We are in a very sad state of affairs as our current President manipulates our political system at the expense of the well being of our nation. ZERO leadership in the Whitehous and Senate!!

@Common Sense: Doc Can you tell us specifically how this shutdown will affect Vet. benefits. Appreciate Best to you Semper Fi

WWII vets storm the Barry-cades. LOL.

@Richard Wheeler:

Doc Can you tell us specifically how this shutdown will affect Vet. benefits.

Did I miss something, or is this just more ‘making it up as he goes along’? Where did he say Vet benefits would be affected? By the way, erecting barricades around the WWII memorial is preventing veterans free access to a memorial they fought for. I wonder if family members are being denied access to Arlington National Cemetery. I guess that depends on whether it’s BHO’s call or not.

@Redteam: FYI Common Sense was a Corpsman in V.N. and tirelessly works for Vets at the V.A Hospital in La Jolla. I respect whatever insight he might be able to provide.

My thanks to Common Sense for his service. but RW, you are trying to put words in his mouth. I was going to say you’re lowering your standards, but unfortunately, you’re not.

@Richard Wheeler: Rich, as always, thanks for the respect of a fellow Vet and all the best to you and yours. I don’t know all there is to know but it is my understanding that legislation passed in 2009 termed “storm the hill” provided that the VA budget is approved a year in advance. From a health care perspective for myself and other Vets, there is a window of ongoing care. What is in jeopardy though is disability payments which if this shutdown goes more than three weeks will be affected negatively. Also, and immediate, is that all ongoing claims for disability which in my personal experience took well over 1 1/2 years for all of my claims will be curtailed due to cutback of personnel managing the process. My wife is a civilian RN at Camp Pendleton and has been deemed essential and therefore, for the moment, her job and income are secured. Sadly, over 225 civilian personnel at Camp Pendleton have been furloughed indefinitely. Who is to blame for this situation? Personally, I believe the President, Senate, and House are!! As I stated before, politics have replaced common sense and compromise and therefore partisanship has crippled our nation. What percentage each party can be assigned makes little difference to me. If parts of Obamacare needs to be curtailed in order to move forward then let it happen. But at the very least, I believe that compromise needs to be considered at this time!! The bully pulpit can no longer be a substitute for leadership. I hear a lot of Tea Party haters now but I would challenge that position and ask that a reflection of the outcome of the 2010 election cycle vindicates their position and certainly provides cause for a further discussion relevant to Obamacare. There is no other way to explain the historic takeover of the House other than to say America has real doubts about Obamacare. I appreciate your solicitation of my opinion and insight and know that criticism is a part of this discussion. I love our Vets and will continue to serve them to the best of my ability. All the best!!

@Common Sense:

Common Sense, I basically agree with everything you said, but as to blame. There are two houses of the Congress. This is a budget bill, so it has to originate in the House. They have sent several to the Senate. All have been DOA. What is supposed to happen is, the Senate is supposed to vote on a bill and if it differs from the one from the House, the two bills are supposed to be sent to conference of the two Houses and they work out the differences and send an identical bill to both houses, which they either approve or reject. They are supposed to do that until a bill is approved by both houses. The House has sent several bills to the Senate, they did not consider any of them, no vote. Compromise means that they sit down and talk. The House has requested conference, the Repubs in Senate have asked for conference, the Dims refuse to consider it. Who is to blame? Who won’t sit down and discuss it? There is no question or doubt as to who that is.

@Common Sense: Thank you for your input on what is happening “on the ground,” Your wife and yourself are DEDICATED SERVANTS to our Vets. Let me know if I can help here in San Clemente. I’m buying at The Fisherman Restaurant on the pier any time you can come up. The best to you–Semper Fi
