Doug Ross:

Yes, really. Muslim Matters is a news hub for all things Islamic, with a special focus on Western countries. MM has a mere 425,000 “likes” on Facebook, which indicates it is quite mainstream.

Of course, he’s not just holding up a book; he’s also holding up a flag. And not just any flag, the black flag of ISIS.

When even Al-Arabiya is reporting that ISIS has committed crimes against humanity, you may want to rethink the cheerleading, fellows.

Well,

as “anon” pointed out to Doug Ross, this was done 3 years ago and is not the black banner of ISIS:

Flag on left is ISIS. Flag on right is al Nusra. Neither is the flag Farouq Alzouman took to the top of Everest *3 years ago*. He carried the Saudi flag.

2011 Interview w/alzouman

Alzouman received an award for his endeavor this year, likely bringing all this up in a skewed fashion.

Someone is playing games with you.

Photoshop and faux journalism got its start during the wedding procession of Prince Charles and Lady Diana.
The Royal Guards did NOT have matching beards, so matching beards were simply photoshopped in.
That was a long time ago.
Recently another piece of public street drama was cropped to appear as if the real thing had happened.
In a public anti-Israel display a Muslim man, masquerading as an Israeli IDF soldier, put his foot on a little girl’s chest and aimed his rifle at her head.
Although the gun is not standard IDF and the uniform is a fake, the cropped photo is popularly used to ”prove” that the Israeli’s terrorize little Muslim girls.

As to THIS photo, it is NOT fake, just misrepresented.
ISIS is doing all sorts of PR misrepresenting themselves.
And WHY?
There’s a terrific piece in the WaPo about how ISIS is failing as a state.

No surprise.
It is basing its form of ”governance” on a book designed to keep pirates, rapists and looters in line!

Come on. Faked photos began shortly after photography began.
The well-known photos of Soviet leaders from the 1930s serve as an example.
Leon Trotsky disappeared from many pictures.
Fall out of favor, and you got cropped.
It is only the technology which has changed.
And remember the missile attacks in 1991?
Nothing new here.
Funny thing. Where are those photoshopped views of King Putt during the Benghazi debacle???

@mathman: True.
I was talking about ”Photopshop,” as a trademarked computer technique.
The Soviets painstakingly removed people from non-cropped photos for publication when various Soviet leaders fell out of favor.
They did a decent job of it, too, considering it was way back then.
The Charles-Di wedding procession photos were the 1st instance where a machine did such a great job as to foll most of the people who were not there watching the parade.
Nowadays you can’t even find those photos which were (IIRC) owned by Life magazine.
