LAPD limits impounding of illegals cars

Under criticism that it was unfairly targeting undocumented immigrants, the Los Angeles Police Department on Friday announced changes to its rules for impounding cars of unlicensed drivers at sobriety checkpoints.

Previously, LAPD officers at such checkpoints followed stringent protocols that called for them to impound a car whenever the driver was found not to have a valid license, regardless of whether the driver had been drinking.

Those rules have drawn the ire of immigration advocacy groups that said they disproportionately targeted undocumented immigrants, who are not able to obtain licenses legally in nearly all U.S. states. Once a vehicle is impounded, law enforcement agencies often require it to remain locked up for at least a month and charge the owner hefty fees to release it.

“Those rules have drawn the ire of immigration advocacy groups that said they disproportionately targeted undocumented immigrants, who are not able to obtain licenses legally in nearly all U.S. states.” There are no bounds to the stupidity of progs.

The real problem was that it cost the city more than they got out of it.
Screw safety!
The city needs MONEY!
So, back to targeting the people who are legal, taxpayers, hard-working.
They pay their bills and tickets.

Gee, imagine what would happen if we keep changing the rules.

Since we are changing rules because people are breaking the laws, perhaps we should change standards for those who can become police officers based upon their color.

Of course, there’s some sense in this report. It seems the NAACP is against this. But not Obama’s DOJ. Imagine that. Who is looking forward to police officers who “passed” a civil servants exam with scores of 63% and 58% (two different exams)?

More political correctness is going to kill us all.

If they don’t have a license, they don’t have insurance. If they wreck your car, you are out of luck, unless you buy uninsured driver’s insurance. They can then go buy another junker for way less than they can pay to insure the damn thing. When you begin to have two sets of laws, you no longer have law. I can’t drive without insurance or a license, but if you are an un-convicted felon or an illegal alien, you don’t need to worry about the law: you are entitled to be free of laws that make the rest of us tow the line or pay huge fines.

Just in case there are any bleeding hearts who feel so sorry for the illegal aliens, I have a nice Mercedes Sport Sedan with the hind end smashed by a drunk illegal who didn’t have insurance or a license; I will sell you that car for what it was worth before the jackass wrecked it and you can see what it is like to have financially irresponsible people causing accidents with immunity. I lose a car and he buys another, keeps the economy going.
