John Kerry: American foreign policy “is defined by life-threatening issues like climate change”

Juliet Eilperin @ The WaPo:

Sen. John Kerry pointed to climate change as among the top international threats facing the United States at his nomination hearing Thursday, cheering environmentalists and dismaying oil industry officials, who have been watching how his confirmation could affect the fate of the Keystone XL pipeline.

In his opening statement before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, the Massachusetts Democrat said that American foreign policy “is defined by life-threatening issues like climate change,” along with political unrest in Africa and human trafficking across the globe. Kerry, the panel’s outgoing chairman, has made the issue of global warming central to his career in public service. He has traveled repeatedly to international climate negotiations and pushed in the Senate — unsuccessfully — for a limit on national greenhouse gas emissions.

Later this year, the State Department must decide whether to grant TransCanada a presidential permit to build the 1,700-mile Keystone XL pipeline extension, which would carry heavy crude oil from Canada’s oil sands to America’s Gulf Coast refineries. Climate activists warn that the project would be devastating to the planet, while proponents say the pipeline would boost the nation’s energy security and generate short-term construction jobs.

Environmentalists have put Kerry on notice that they expect him to use his new post to curb the nation’s carbon output, in part by rejecting TransCanada’s permit.

He has traveled repeatedly to international climate negotiations

Oh, that’s not the only time Kerry has traveled to foreign lands to push his agenda. He traveled to Vietnam due to the massive reports of POWs still held in Vietnam and Cambodia, you know, Cambodia that John Kerry was so familiar with, but alas, poor Lurch could not find any POWs. Perhaps it was because he didn’t look and the Communist government of Vietnam didn’t drag them out for Kerry’s inspection.

    Now we learn that

    climate change

is the greatest threat to our nation. Not Al Qaeda, not fundalmentalist Islam, not AQIM, not those who want to slaughter in the name of Allah, but humans who, Kerry believes, are making the earth warmer. Ignore that firey planet that the Earth revolves around. Or the fact that Hansen himself has recently said that the earth’s temperatures have not really warmed in a decade (oops, there goes Hansen’s federally funding for junk science).

Add to the insult to the American veteran that John Kerry represents as a Senator, that drooling old fool, John McCain, sat right next to Hillary today, telling what a great SoS Kerry will make.

John Kerry is an abomination to any American, past and present, that has ever donned the uniform of this nation. His picture hangs in the War Memorial Museum in Vietnam as a friend to the Vietnamese in their struggle against the United States. My disgust for that man knows no bounds. He should have been blindfolded, tied to a post set in the ground and shot at dawn for his traitorous actions against his own nation.

BUT WHICH CHANGE? IT DOESN’T MATTER FOR THEM AS LONG AS IT CHANGE,
WELL IT’S DAM COLD IN HERE, AS USUAL IN WINTER,
IT’S HUMAN CHANGE FOR WARMER COAT, THE FUR COAT,
THE ONE THOSE GROUPS KEEP YELLING AGAINST,
