PROVIDENCE, R.I. (CBS Connecticut/AP) — The Rhode Island health department says a child has died from complications of an unusual respiratory virus that has been affecting children across the U.S.
Health officials said Wednesday that the child died last week of a staph infection associated with the enterovirus 68 infection.
Department spokeswoman Christina Batastini said there have been no deaths in Rhode Island directly attributed to the enterovirus 68 infection. Batastini said she could not say where the child lived or was treated.
Mild cases of the 68 infection can cause fever, runny nose and coughs but severe ones can lead to difficulty breathing. The strain isn’t new but it’s rarely seen.
AFP reports more than 400 children nationwide have been sickened by the enterovirus. Health officials are investigating nine cases of muscle weakness or paralysis in Colorado due to the virus.

There have been no reported deaths so far but if one American child dies Obama will have a great of explaining to do.

You have to realize that you’re talking about a president who sat down and ate a gourmet meal in front of a fasting Hindu president of India.
Oh, sure the Indian president was gracious about it, but Obama feels NO incumbency to act in a civilized way toward anyone but our enemies.

Anytime – ANYTIME just ONE person is affected by anything in this country…the Democrats, the Left, the progressives are out in force trying to administer, legislate, regulate, enforce, take away our rights…we now have Obama and this administration opening the flood gates along the border…inviting into this country God knows what…is THIS BETTER than following the Laws of this Country regarding (legal) immigration? Transition, checks and balances according to our Laws?
Tell me, who’s fault is it when American Federal Laws are bypassed, circumvented, and plain old ignored to allow sickness, criminals and God knows what else come into this country….when a shallow and empty cry from our politicians that ‘our Immigration Laws are “broken” (but, none can expain just how they are broken – Remember it is what they don’t say that is key) ….
…I would rather have broken laws that still allow for protocols then to have people sick and dying because ‘some’ if not all of those protocols have ‘slipped through cracks’ because of ‘fly by night activities’ geared toward a political end.…I am talking about checking the health and background (criminality) of those who want to enter and live in this country, and whether or not they have an allegiance to this country .
A sickness (mental illness) caused the deaths of 20 children by the hands of Adam Lanza in 2012. The outrage by the left, democrats, politicians was it was the Gun’s fault and the left and democrats held hearing after hearing trying to change, regulate, and eliminate the rights of legal gun owners and the 2nd Amendment (a U.S. Constitutional Right). Rather then look at the mental illness in this country as a culprit…
Being a U.S. Citizen is NOT A RIGHT to people who want to immigrate here, it is regarded as a Privilege to those who want to become a LEGAL U.S. Citizen, have an allegiance to the United States, using our Federal Immigration Laws, and should be treated as such.
Where is the outrage from the left? WHY are the democrats not holding the same hearings for change of the current illegal influx of sick individuals from other third world countries? For inviting Third World illnesses into the United States…. for demanding we follow our Federal Laws on Immigration (broken or not – no excuse)?
A CHILD, ONE CHILD has died by a virus directly linked to illegal immigration from a Third World country…where is the outrage from the democrats now? The hearings before congress…?
