According to the official, “Attorney General Holder has discussed his plans personally with the president on multiple occasions in recent months, and finalized those plans in an hour-long conversation with the president at the White House residence over Labor Day weekend.
“At a formal announcement later today, the attorney general plans to express his personal gratitude to the President for the opportunity to serve in his administration and to lead the Justice Department, which he will call the ‘greatest honor of my professional life.’ He will note he has loved the Justice Department since, when he was a boy, he watched how, under Attorney General Kennedy, the Department played a leadership role in advancing the civil rights movement. During his tenure as Attorney General, Holder has had Attorney General Kennedy’s portrait in his conference room.”
Holder will remain at the Department of Justice until his post is filled.

Can Obama pardon an acting Attorney General? Maybe he needs to leave first. I thought it was interesting that he was going to make his papers available to the public. I doubt that all of them will be available. He will likely employ the state department staff who cleaned up the Bengasi documents.
I bet he is gone before Oct 22nd.

Former Attorney Goodfella Holder is slickly playing the system. He is retiring now, so that he gets his cushy public service retirement and can not be impeached when Republicans take control of both houses of Congress. When the F&F doody is out in the open and hits the fan, Congress will not be able to call on him to testify as a current member of Obama’s cabinet, which lessens the effectiveness of their examination due to an ability to claim that he isn’t the head of the Justice Department anymore and no longer has access to information on F&F, His retirement removes impeachment of Holder as an option. As Obama’s right hand stooge Holder will certainly get a Presidential pardon which will insure that the only punishment they can hit Holder with will be the contempt of Congress and he is free to grin and watch the new series “How To Get Away With Murder” now that he and his cronies have kept any real investigation hindered long enough that it should last until the end of Obama’s presidency.
@Ditto: I don’t really care if he goes to jail because we all know those guys never go to jail (well, liberals don’t). However, he can be called before Congress and he can be proven guilty. Obama can pardon a proven criminal and, after Obama is out of office, they can hang around and discuss all the laws they dumped on.
Being gone is enough because it is all we are going to get. What I want is a new administration and Congress that is going to begin to reverse all the damage this despot has done.

Sure he can, but his having resigned will make it harder for Congress to get anything more out of him, and Obama will continue to have the Justice Department run interference to protect his buddy Eric.
