Colorado Held Hostage: Hickenlooper Says He ‘Could’ Grant Clemency To Mass Shooter If Not Re-Elected

Dunlap was sentenced to death but when the date for his execution came up in 2013, Hickenlooper granted a “temporary reprieve.” The National Journal reported that he chose this action as a way to pass the buck on taking a firm stand on the death penalty. Families of the victims gunned down by Dunlap were heartbroken and outraged.

The Journal also pointed out that Hickenlooper has since indicated he could further his action — changing it to full clemency — should Coloradans elect Republican Bob Beauprez instead of him in November.

In August, Complete Colorado published audio of Hickenlooper telling a CNN interviewer that if his gubernatorial opponent ran and won on a platform of enforcing the death penalty there are still things “a governor can [do]” with the time that remains. Things he can do in the “period of time between the election…and the end of the year.”

When pressed to explain this statement, Hickenlooper said that if his Republican opponent wins in November, “there obviously remedies that the governor can do, you know, I could give it full clemency between election day and the end of the year.”

He said would have “a number of different opportunities” to be sure Dunlap wasn’t executed.

Dunlap shot five victims in 1993 after being fired from his job at Chuck E. Cheese, killing four. All of his victims were white, while Dunlap is black.

Blackmail to manipulate voters, can only be the campaign tool of a psychopath.

If he does this, he will be walking in the footsteps of a previous governor.
Back in 2003 outgoing Illinois Governor Geoge Ryan granted clemency to all 156 death row inmates.
That Republican found that some 17 men were on death row but had been wrongfully convicted.
Rather than leave office with the other 156 on death row, perhaps with as few as one of them wrongfully convicted, he sent them all to life in prison.

In Hickenlooper’s case, however, there is no doubt that the shooter is the guy in prison on death row.
Pure blackmail.

Mark O’Mara, one of George Zimmerman’s legal team explained how pathetic most prosecutions are.
There are errors and omissions all over the cases.
BUT when a public defender gets paid for just showing up he won’t bother to dig and catch those errors.
Many poor people end up serving prison time, even on death row, because they had lazy legal defenders who had no skin in the game.

NO different that than the fool pres. giving amnesty of mugger, thuggers, jihad, mexican gangs, drug deals, we have to omit his cocaine dealer of course, murders and a list of other criminals. Look at billy’s list when he left office. A rancid bag of democratic garbage was pardoned or released. Who was the high-profile tax evader whose wife billy was banging in order to get his release? Streisand must have really felt bad since she had been left out of everything. Banging billy for as long as she did and not getting any political appointment must have been a real bummer for her.

The reason Hickenlooper decided to grant Nathan Dunlap a temporary reprieve was that it was “discovered” he suffered from a “personality disorder.” In signing the order to grant the temporary reprieve, Hickenlooper said he would leave the final decision to his successor. As such, about nine of the jurors who found he should be sentenced to death said they would’ve voted for life if they only “knew” of his disorder. His disorder is real – he’s a stone-cold killer that has not shown any remorse.

Little did Hickenlooper know he was opening a can of worms, and undermining his bid for re-election. The victims’ families promptly denounced the delay in carrying out Dunlap’s death sentence. If Hickenlooper had a problem with the death penalty, they said, he should’ve said so – commute the sentence to life rather having the death sentence hanging there. With it becoming an election issue, he made the mistake of saying if he lost re-election, he would grant clemency. Those words, in itself, made the situation worse for Hickenlooper. What did he mean by clemency? Would he commute the sentence to life, or would he commute it to time served? No one knows. He’s turned a 3-5 point advantage into a neck-and-neck race. Voters here in Colorado know Hickenlooper is blackmailing with regard to the Dunlap death sentence. The death penalty remains supported by 65% of state residents, with higher numbers among likely voters. If this was the sole issue, Hickenlooper would be toast. He’s otherwise shaky in his re-elect numbers in his governing as a liberal while proclaiming he’s a moderate, middle-of-the-road guy.

If Hickenlooper does lose his re-election, it would be interesting to know how large the Dunlap death sentence was as an election issue.

The pres, is a sociopath, no difference. The alleged pres is not an US citizen, has severe mental health issues and has a beard. He has killed more civilians and US soldiers since WWII. than any other president.
Ironic that in Chi-town all voting machines register democrat?
