California’s Population is Moving Out, Census Report Shows

Olga Spilewsky and Conan Nolan @ NBC:

About 100,000 more people moved away from California in 2011 than relocated to the Golden State, according to the latest report from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The trend can be explained, in part, in monetary terms. Even in an economic boom, the cost of living in California has increased, prompting people to move out, and, in recent years, unemployment in the state has skyrocketed.

So, where are these former Californians going?

The Census Bureau calculates that the most popular destination is Texas (58,992), a state that is luring California companies. That’s followed by Arizona (49,635), Nevada (40,114), Washington (38,421) and Oregon (34,214).

Although in smaller numbers, people are still relocating to the Golden State.

Texans make up the largest number of translates to California with 37,387 people, according to the report. That is followed by people from Washington (36,481), Nevada (36,159), Arizona (35,650), and New York (25,269).

The ”takers” now outnumber the makers in our condo complex.
Two owner-occupiers and another four have jobs out of 27 units!

    This makes for interesting stuff.
Many of these takers are malingerers who have avoided working for decades.
One man is an undiagnosed nut case who lives on medical pot and saw palmetto (so he can pleasure the ladies).
He has lately been trying to gather other takers to do ”apartment takeover” of the complex.
He, with their support, has been breaking one rule after another so as to make life miserable for the rule abiding ones.
There is only off-site management and she uses the police as her managers when (more and more often) her own laxness allows things to go too far.
I can only imagine how quickly the place will turn to crap when it is all absentee landlords and their board & care type tenants who are getting no care here.
Sometimes it sounds like that old classic movie, The Snake Pit, with women loudly slurring and cussing, begging for drugs and tobacco, angry at the STINGY taxpayers who allow her to run out of smokes before the end of the month.
Sometimes the back&forth rantings and ravings are fairly amusing.
But Obama’s class warfare tactic really found a home among these would-be occupiers (if they just had the gumpsion to get out with the group.)
We hear the same garbage from these white and non-white takers as from Jamie Foxx, you know, kill all the whites.

I have noted an upswing in Californian vehicles here and bringing their obnoxious driving habits with them. I had hoped it was a seasonal thing, but apparently, no such luck.
I figure it’s only a matter of time before they screw up AZ too.

How amusing would it be if all that was left were state workers and illegals?

@Hard Right: I live in Carlsbad and the Zonies are the ones who screw up the traffic. See it every day. I firmly believe California drivers are the best in the world!!

    @Common Sense:

I would say you have low standards for what constitutes “the best” then. ;)
You may want to remind your CA friends that come here not to be cutting people off etc. like they do there. Many people here carry guns.

Common Sense and H.R. Last month a guy from Tucson cut in front of me on an off ramp.
I shot him and his wife and kids.
    Merry Christmas
