Jeff Dunetz:

On Tuesday evening’s Fox Special Report,  Mike Emanuel reported he’s obtained an internal State Department memo indicating that the Obama Administration is considering bringing non-Americans suffering from Ebola into the country for treatment. Based on the memo, it is clear the State Department is recommending the action.

Emanuel: Sources indicate it is an internal memo marked sensitive but unclassified written by a State Department official. Some key points are as follows:

Purpose: Come to an agreed State Department position on the extent to which non-U.S. citizens will be admitted to the United States for treatment of Ebola virus disease.

Recommendations: That State and DHS Homeland Security devise a system for expeditious parole of Ebola-infected non-citizens into the U.S. as long as they are otherwise eligible for evacuation from the Ebola-infected countries and for entry into the United States.

Issue: The United States needs to show leadership and act, as we are asking others to act by admitting certain non-citizens into the country for medical treatment for Ebola virus disease during the Ebola crisis.

One week ago, House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte wrote to Secretary of State John Kerry and Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson asking if either department was formulating a plan to allow non-U.S. citizens with Ebola to come to the U.S. for medical treatment. Today, White House Press Secretary Josh Ernest was asked about it.

The administration would like us to believe this is strictly a proposal and not a policy consideration. If this is a trial balloon, why are they even floating it to gauge the level of support/non-support? They are already perceived to be much too slow, disorganized and woefully unprepared in their response. If they were to adopt the plan, it would demonstrate they truly don’t understand the scope and danger of the Ebola virus.

It has probably occurred to someone that there are foreign nationals who might be of unusual importance to the United States for a variety of reasons. It’s a good idea to have a policy and protocol ahead of time. There wouldn’t be days to work it all out if the situation suddenly came up.

Apparently Ebola is not spreading quickly enough powered only by ignorance, so I guess it needs a little help.

And of course we cover not only the cost of transportation, we cover the medical costs too right? Because we have lots of spare cash laying around, right? Not to mention the opportunity to accidently infect a few more of our own citizens… this government needs to get its head out of its ass…
