Americans rising up against government

Glenn Harlan Reynolds:

Three examples of pushback against the ruling class.

America’s ruling class has been experiencing more pushback than usual lately. It just might be a harbinger of things to come.

First, in response to widespread protests last week, the Department of Homeland Security canceled plans to build a nationwide license plate database. Many local police departments already use license-plate readers that track every car as it passes traffic signals or pole-mounted cameras. Specially equipped police cars even track cars parked on the street or even in driveways.

The DHS put out a bid request for a system that would have gone national, letting the federal government track millions of people’s comings and goings just as it tracks data about every phone call we make. But the proposal was suddenly withdrawnlast week, with the unconvincing explanation that it was all a mistake. I’m inclined to agree withTechDirt’s Tim Cushing, who wrote: “The most plausible explanation is that someone up top at the DHS or ICE suddenly realized that publicly calling for bids on a nationwide surveillance system while nationwide surveillance systems are being hotly debated was … a horrible idea.”

On Friday, after more public outrage, the Federal Communications Commission withdrew a plan to “monitor” news coverage at not only broadcast stations, but also at print publications that the FCC has no authority to regulate. The “Multi-Market Study of Critical Information Needs,” or CIN (pronounced “sin”) involved the FCC sending people to question reporters and editors about why they chose to run particular stories. Many folks in and out of the media found it Orwellian.

How this program appeared was, like the DHS program, a bit of a mystery: FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai said: “This has never been put to an FCC vote; it was just announced.” But the blowback was sufficient to stop it for now.

“This is more “Irish Democracy,” passive resistance to government overreach.”

If you click on “Irish Democracy” it takes you to another story explaining – passive resistance…and how it could explain the ‘non-enrollment’ numbers in the millions for the ACA (Affordable Care Act – “obamacare”).

The non-enrollment in the millions could also be considered passive resistance to kill a law a MAJORITY of Americans do NOT WANT….regardless of the way the left, and the elitists ‘spin’ it.

Meanwhile the leftists controlled Government (Schemer NY et al) on the east coast (NY) want to ‘monitor’ school children as young as the age of 5 on up… they want to mine every bit of information they can and enter the information into a huge data base by an outside contractor – inclusive of the parents information.. ALL this, WITHOUT THE CONSENT OF THE PARENTS….

Aside from the outrage over this government over reach into citizens (children’s) privacy – My question – why the need? (I won’t believe it’s any ‘benevolent’ necessity by Government). Besides, how is this “data” going to be secured? What guarantees any of this ‘data’ from falling into the wrong hands??

More importantly is this the liberal ‘democracy’ New York voted for?? If so, what a bunch of fools…

The communist – Hitler had a whole ‘government’ bureau created specifically to house ‘cards’ (in those days) those cards housed ALL information on just about every person – especially ‘those’ people who were deemed civilian or political ‘enemies’.

Parents basically learned of this by ‘mistake’…Many parents just learning about this ‘sneaky’ backdoor invasion of privacy on their children ….parents are becoming outraged!

Will the outrage grow or die a passive liberal ‘useful idiots’ death?

(30 Million Americans who lost their insurance to Obama and the IRS): ‘Go ahead, arrest us, audit each and every one of us, and put us in prison, then we will have legal standing to sue over your arbitrary enforcement of the law.’

Bluff called. Next, …November elections.

As Greta Van Susteren so succinctly put it “Read the Constitution”. You are witnessing the push back against illegal laws/rules. Especially in the states that demand that citizens ‘register’ their firearms. These clowns have a problem with the phrase, ‘shall not be infringed’.
