1,000 Released Criminal Illegal Aliens Commit New Crimes

Loading

New information obtained by the Senate Judiciary Committee reveals many criminal aliens released from custody have since gone on to be convicted of new crimes.

Information provided by the Department of Homeland Security indicates that 36,007 criminal illegal immigrants were released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody in 2013. Of that total, at least one thousand have been convicted of new crimes.

Among the new convictions are many traffic-related and Driving Under the Influence (DUI) cases. There are also cases of battery, aggravated assault, lewd acts with a child under age 14, child cruelty with possible injury/death, robbery, drugs and terroristic threats.

“The Obama Administration claims that it is using ‘prosecutorial discretion’ to prioritize the removal of criminal aliens from this country,” says Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee.

“But this report shows the disturbing truth: 1,000 undocumented aliens previously convicted of crimes who the Administration released in 2013 have gone on to commit further crimes in our communities. I will continue my work to ensure our immigration officials are doing what it takes to take criminal aliens off our streets and out of our country.”–Sen. Charles Grassley

The national statistics on recidivism tell us that 67.8 percent of prisoners released in the United States are arrested again within 3 years of their release date. That national rate makes only 1,000 out of the 36,007 illegal aliens released look pretty good. It works out to a recidivism rate of less than 3 percent.

I present you the warped thinking of Gullible Greggie. You see, in his book, because he thinks illegals go back to crime at a lower percentage that those American citizens that have been incarcerated, well, we just have no complaint now, do we?

After all, those illegals are just here to work according to the lame brains in the Democratic Party.

You’ve got more complaints than anyone could shake a stick at. What’s lacking for many of them is any logical basis.

@Greg:

That’s your response? Really? Could you get any more vague?

ROTFLMAO

The statistics demonstrating the absurdity of this particular complaint are quite specific. As Gertrude Stein once said, “There is no there there.”

Stop blathering. Drool is running out of the corner of your mouth.

I keep praying for common sense, Constitutional, American minded, unafraid, tell it like it is, no-nonsense and rejectors of idiotic liberal agendas to bring, and really lead America from the brink we have found ourselves under the dysfunctional abyss of liberal stupitidy.

@Greg: Why is there any rate above 0%? They should be deported. They have no legal right to be in the US if they are illegal, right? What do you not understand about illegal?

@Randy, #9:

What do you not understand about the number 12 million?

Do you imagine any president has the power to snap his fingers and make around 12 million undocumented aliens vanish and reappear again somewhere outside of our borders?

For the sake of discussion, let’s totally ignore the humanitarian issues and consider only dollars and cents. The estimated cost to U.S. taxpayers last year of each individual deportation, including apprehension, processing, and removal from the United States, was around $23,000. Multiply that cost by 12,000,000. The result—the total cost to taxpayers of deporting 12 million illegal aliens—would be around $276,000,000,000. That $276 billion, for anyone having problems with the zeros. The entire budget for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for Fiscal Year 2015 was less than $6 billion. (See page 57 of the Homeland Security 2015 Budget In Brief.)

Obviously you can’t deport everyone, given that it would cost around 46 times the amount of money Congress allocates for immigration enforcement activities for an entire year.

So, either Congress has to address the problem in some comprehensive fashion and allocate funding for what they want done—which they keep claiming there’s no need for them to do—or the President is left to enforce the laws that are already on the books the best he can, using only the funding that he has been allowed.

That second alternative is what he’s got to deal with.

In response to Congress’s failure to do anything but flap their lips, Obama has prioritized immigration enforcement, focusing on removing the illegals that pose the greatest threat to the United States, while keeping hands totally off of the illegals who seem to represent the most promising future assets to the nation. He’s also decided that it’s better to deport people having no attachments to the community than it is to break up families. Do republicans have any better approach?

Congress should either do the job that they’re paid to do, or stop whining about the fact that Obama is trying to do his own the best he can with what he’s been given.

@Greg: First of all, he can quit inviting them in. Then he needs to deport those who commit crimes. If they are not here after they commit a crime, they are not going to commit another crime! You always seem to miss the point of the articles. Why is this president continuing to release “criminals” who are illegal back into the population. Do you have a short attention span? Are you ADD and can not concentrate on any topic for more than a few seconds?

@Randy> #11:

You seem to miss the point of simple arithmetic. The point being that the criticism of Obama’s immigration policy in the absence of any Congressional action to address the realities of the immigration problem makes no sense whatsoever. What Obama is doing is an entirely rational response to a totally irrational Congress.

@Greg: It is rational to allow illegal people to commit further crimes when the current laws “require” deportation? You are so ignorant if you think allowing convicted criminals to commit additional crimes.

Immigration Expert: ICE Officials Say Criminal Immigrant Recidivism Rate 50 Percent

“What I’m told by ICE officials — and I’ve been told on a number of occasions — is that they believe, from their internal data, is there is a recidivism rate of about 50 percent of criminal aliens who are released by ICE –,” Vaughan testified before the House Judiciary Committee Tuesday.

She didn’t finish the sentence because Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX) — a committee member questioning Vaughan — expressed shock at the figure and interrupted her.

“50 percent? Half will commit additional crimes against innocent Americans?” he asked.

“Right,” Vaughan replied, “and that’s both criminal aliens released by ICE and also those criminal aliens who are released by local law enforcement agencies that want to obstruct immigration enforcement by not honoring detainers,”

Vaughan noted that, based on the approximately 36,000 criminal aliens who were release in 2013, a lower percentage — 16 percent — of them went on to be arrested again by local law enforcement agencies.
