-Michael Avery, Constitutional Law Professor at Suffolk University, Mass

That was the professor’s response to an email that was sent out by his university asking for support in sending out care packages to our troops.

On the opposite side of the opinion spectrum, here’s a Hollywood celebrity who also expresses his feelings toward those who serve and posts the following on his blog [It's so well-worth the read, I can't help but post it here in its entirety] :

To all my family, friends and fans -

I’m writing this out to all of you after attending an event that turned out to be one of the most moving evenings I’ve ever had…

I had the honor and privilege last night of attending The Basic School Instructor Battalion 236th Marine Corps Birthday Ball at the Greater Richmond Convention Center with Corporal Kelsey DeSantis…

I knew I would have an evening that I wouldn’t forget… Something I could tell my friends about. What I didn’t know was how moved I would be by the whole experience.

I’ve always been very vocal about my support of our Armed Forces. I’ve always felt like they offered us the opportunity to live our lives freely without the fear that so many other nations have to endure still to this day. And, they do it without asking for anything in return. I had this very feeling walking into this dinner. So, to say I was stoked to be there would be more than accurate.

As the evening got started, I met Kelsey and we made our way to the ballroom where the Marine Ball was going to be held. I stopped in an area designated as a kind of VIP for some of the officers, I think. I took some photos and shook hands with some of the men and women who take such great care of our freedom. It was nice to be there already.

Then, we moved to the ballroom where the dinner was set up… For a short while, I had the opportunity to sit with Kelsey, get to know her and get a tiny glimpse into what her life as a Marine was like. She talked about her training in mixed martial arts with a passion, a discipline, and a respect. It reminded me of how I hear my favorite athletes talk about their sport or, how I hear my favorites among my peers in music and film talk about their craft.

We sat in this huge ballroom and were the only ones there as, we had beaten the rest of the soldiers who were on their way in. So, we got a decent amount of time to chat before the ceremony started.

She seemed to me to be so humble and honest… Very cool. She also simultaneously seemed like she was nervous about the whole evening and if I was going to enjoy myself. “Are you ok?” she asked 2 or 3 times. “I hope you are having fun. I know you will once my crew of friends get here to the table.” I have to tell you, it’s not every day that I meet a 23 year old girl and she’s more worried about if I’m having fun or if I’m comfortable! It hit me all of a sudden that these were the type of people that look after us and our freedom… Humble, concerned for others before themselves… This was the type of person our Marine Corps was building. I was really blown away.

It seemed like all of a sudden I was surrounded by her great friends and fellow Marines as the closest ones to her made their way to our table. She again assured me that I was going to love all of her friends–that they were a “kick-ass” group of people.

She couldn’t have been more right. I laughed and laughed with all of them almost immediately and felt very close to them… They reminded me of my friends (the ones I like, at least). Cool, un-affected, and real. This was going to be a fun night.

What happened then took me by such surprise that I was almost brought to tears. In fact, our whole table was…

They started the ceremony. And, the next thing I knew I was watching a video about Pearl Harbor/WW2 and the September 11 terrorist attacks… It was a video with some first-hand accounts from some Marines who were there… Telling their stories of the sights and sounds of war and rescue. So vivid and real. So honest but, so filled with a sense of compassion and adoration for this wonderful country. They spoke with a pride that only they could have acquired through their experience as a US Marine. There was a common theme that I began to notice as well… No matter what the situation. No matter how dire…

They were there FIRST.

There on the front lines.

No questions… Just reaction.

While this tribute was playing, you could hear a pin drop. It was a surreal moment to be in that room with so many of our great Marines who have such a different type of connection to those stories. One that we who don’t serve will NEVER understand. It was familial. It was like they were listening to their own blood brothers. I glanced around the room at young men and women, spouses and soldiers… At kids way beyond their years, really… All so deeply entwined. Not just by battle, even though we who have never endured anything remotely close to those experiences and have NO position to comment on… But, by having such life changing experiences through them and to not ever waver in their love and respect for our homeland. That’s what I saw. A faith in us that has been tested time and time again. And, through it all, NEVER a drop of doubt.

I was truly moved.

The evening went on and we ate and took photos and drank and made jokes.

There were some speeches that prompted many “huahs” and applause. There was laughs. We even danced a little.

I felt so proud to be there. I felt like I was getting a chance to be among my heroes. It’s funny too because a lot of them are SO younger than me.

The evening wound down for me as, I had to catch a plane. But, I have to say that I had so much fun with Kelsey and her crew of friends. They were just really nice people… Classy Marines but, not without a great sense of humor. Real individuals but, not without a sense of community.

I said my goodbyes to them but, not before I got a chance to tell them how much the evening had meant to me. They made me feel so welcome to be there and I’ll never forget it.

We all have our own individual views on war… But, doesn’t that speak to just another thing that makes this country so special?? The fact that we can all wake up every morning and BE individual with a pure sense of freedom..? But, one thing that can’t be argued is that it’s because of the people who VOLUNTEER their lives to make sure that it’s protected at all times. And, like I said before, doing so while asking for nothing in return…

To all of you that serve every day for us… Ensuring our freedom, I say: My deepest gratitude to you. I’ve met so many of my heroes… From Michael Jordan to Michael Jackson. And, nothing makes me feel more honor and pride than when I get to meet one of you. Last night changed my life and I will never forget it.

To people like me who get to benefit from this type of person… One with character and courage. With strength and bravery. With humility and honor… I say: Send your thanks. Do it however you can. Write a letter, type an email… Hell, buy ‘em a beer next time you run into someone from our Armed Forces in a bar. When they say thank you for that drink that cost you 3 bucks, they’ll mean it. They won’t take it for granted and, they won’t forget it.

Thank you Corporal Kelsey DeSantis. Thank you for inviting me. And, thank you for being my hero.

- Justin Timberlake

How did this come about? Back in July:

Mila Kunis has set a dangerous, albeit awesome, standard for asking celebrities on dates.

Just days after the actress accepted Sgt. Scott Moore’s YouTube request to attend a Marine Corps ball with him, a female Marine has asked the same of Justin Timberlake.

When Kunis was asked about the viral video invitation by Fox411, Timberlake, her “Friends with Benefits” co-star, demanded she go. “You need to do it for your country,” he told her.

Well now J.T., it’s your turn. Cpl. Kelsey De Santis, who is serving at the Martial Arts Center for Excellence in Quantico, posted her own video to YouTube with a similar request. She would like the “Sexy Back” singer to go to her last Marine Corps Ball in Washington, D.C. this November.

I haven’t really paid attention to Timberlake’s career. But it’s nice to see those like him who have enjoyed great prosperity show an appreciation to those who make whatever lifestyles we lead possible.

The Congressman That Wouldn’t Quit

Sexual perverts are never really healed and never trustworthy. Would you trust them around your kids. Weiner is actively trying to preserve his House Seat: his first method was to deny allegations by lying to Congress and the nation, he then claimed that his Twitter account had been hacked, but neglected to call in the FBI who said they could prove the hack within minutes, he later tried to accuse Andrew Breitbart of setting him up in a conspiracy, a charge that could have meant criminal allegations against Breitbart. Now that all his previous attempts to deflect blame for his cyber perversions have failed and new charges involving an underage teenager are emerging, Weiner is now resorting to the Lindsay Lohan defense of counseling and rehab. When all else fails, there is always the last resort of the degenerate, but wait it might just be a ruse, could Weiner be clever enough to say he will get rehab, now that he has been caught, to secure his congressional seat in perpetuity.

In fairness to the Democrats, they realize Weiner will hurt their prospects in the coming elections and they are telling him to get out of Dodge. The election will be tough enough without the issue of protecting a pervert working against them. They are already dragging the effects of Obama with them when they go home to campaign, Weiner will just complicate the issues even more.

Wiener has made an ass of himself and the Democrats realize that they need to get rid of this dead weight if they are going to be a viable party after the next election. But since Wiener has no other job skills other than a crossing guard, and who would trust him to be a crossing guard, he is not going to give up.

“Congressman Weiner has the love of his family, the confidence of his constituents, and the recognition that he needs help. I urge Congressman Weiner to seek that help without the pressures of being a Member of Congress,” Pelosi said in a statement released this afternoon.

Wasserman Schultz called Weiner’s continued service in Congress “untenable,” and added that “this sordid affair has become an unacceptable distraction.”

Today’s statements were the first time party leaders called on Weiner to step down in the wake of the sexting scandal, and came only after the embattled representative admitted that he sent private Twitter messages to a Delaware teen.

Earlier this morning, Weiner denied he had any inappropriate online contact with the 17-year-old, but did not deny that he’s seeking counsel from Bill and Hillary Clinton about the scandal.

“Nothing explicit. Nothing indecent. Absolutely nothing inappropriate,” the embattled Congressman said as he left his Forest Hills apartment and went about routine morning errands, fetching his shirts at the Smile Often dry cleaner on nearby Austin Street.

Pelosi, Hillary, and Wasserman Schulz all know the best part about their asses is that they are behind them and they realize Weiener the ass should be behind them also.

He would have been happy to let the issue slide if Breitbart were in criminal court spending a fortune to defend himself against the criminal allegations of Weiner, yet now that he is seeking treatment he thinks America’s heart will melt for the lying pervert. America has selective memory and forgiveness; unfortunately, perverts and liars are rarely included in that group.

Weiner has found support from one House Member, Charley Rangel, who is no stranger to controversy:

Weiner did pick up support from U.S. Rep. Charles Rangel, a New York Democrat who was censured by the House last year for ethics violations.
Rangel suggested that other members of Congress had done things more immoral than Weiner.
Rangel said Weiner “wasn’t going with prostitutes. He wasn’t going out with little boys.”

It’s reassuring that Democrats are reaffirming their ethics and morals through their representatives.

The longer that this tragedy of Democrat hypocrisy drags on the more we of the opposition are enjoying the spectacle. When Weiner goes before that great moralist and sexual philosopher Bill Clinton and his opportunist wife, who happened to marry president, for counseling, you may trust that the entire world is enjoying a good belly laugh at Democrat expense.

It is truly a great comedic tragedy with a surreal plot that couldn’t have been written with better timing. We have Weiner at the antagonist who is so sanctimonious with his spirited and dramatic outbursts accusing Republicans of gross malfeasance and the wife who works for Hillary who adopts the familiar oblivious attitude of the faithful and innocent wife who stands by her pervert. The Democrat leadership who proclaims Weiner’s innocence and indignation that anyone would even consider such despicable acts be attributed to their up and coming golden boy, a paragon of civic virtue.

The plot continues and the truth emerges; Weiner is a serial pervert and he even is preying upon teenage girls with his perversions. It is no longer an issue that would have blown away if had resigned; no not at all, now he may be arrested if he sent the underage teenager the same naked images that he sent the grown women. He swears it was all innocent, but who in their right mind believes Weiner.

Can a congressman keep his seat if he is doing time in a federal penitentiary? Apparently Wiener is willing to test this possibility, if his texting proves to be just a little bit on the wild side, because he doesn’t want to lose the only job he can ever get.

We have all enjoyed watching the Wieners sizzle and puff up on the grill, this one is even more fun to watch. The election is coming up and the longer this story is on the front page with the Lying Democrat Pervert refusing to quit, the dumber and more unscrupulous the Democrats are looking to the voters. Go Weiner!

Patrick McIlheran points out at RealClearPolitics that Roosevelt openly opposed bargaining rights for government unions:

“The process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service,” Roosevelt wrote in 1937 to the National Federation of Federal Employees. Yes, public workers may demand fair treatment, wrote Roosevelt. But, he wrote, “I want to emphasize my conviction that militant tactics have no place” in the public sector. “A strike of public employees manifests nothing less than an intent on their part to prevent or obstruct the operations of Government.”

~~~
Roosevelt wasn’t alone. It was orthodoxy among Democrats through the ’50s that unions didn’t belong in government work. Things began changing when, in 1959, Wisconsin’s then-Gov. Gaylord Nelson signed collective bargaining into law for state workers. Other states followed, and gradually, municipal workers and teachers were unionized, too.
Even as that happened, the future was visible. Frank Zeidler, Milwaukee’s mayor in the 1950s and the last card-carrying Socialist to head a major U.S. city, supported labor. But in 1969, the progressive icon wrote that rise of unions in government work put a competing power in charge of public business next to elected officials. Government unions “can mean considerable loss of control over the budget, and hence over tax rates,” he warned.
There was “a revolutionary principle rather quietly at work in American government,” he wrote.
The principle was working at about 100 decibels in Wisconsin’s Capitol last week, once the union drum-beaters got going. What worked them up was the money they’d concede, they said, but even more that Walker would make their unions surrender the control they’d gained over every government budget.
Walker, like other Republicans, was long accused of hating government. For eight years as chief executive of heavily Democrat Milwaukee County, he would not raise taxes, which opponents said showed his contempt for government.
Yet all this past week, he praised public employees and he said the work government does is so necessary, taxpayers should get as much of it for their money as possible. Meanwhile, thousands of schoolteachers on the Capitol lawn manifested their intent to obstruct Government and their belief that the tots back at Roosevelt Elementary could darn well spend a day or three watching Nickelodeon at home.
What Scott Walker is attempting to do is to roll back a bill that Democrats passed in 2009 when they controlled the legislature:
The governor’s move is in reaction to a 2009 law implemented by the then-Democratic legislature that expanded public unions’ collective-bargaining rights and lifted existing limits on teacher raises.
Liberals:
Joe Biden: “Even in this contentious political climate in which we work, on this issue, the United States has largely spoken with one voice, Democrats and Republicans alike. This unity has been important and it will be even more important in the delicate and fateful days ahead.”
On Tuesday the Obama Administration asked Hosni Mubarak to step aside.
On Wednesday they said that transitioning power “now means yesterday.”
On Saturday morning the Obama Administration said Mubarak must stay.
On Saturday evening the Obama Administration said Mubarak should step aside.
On Sunday Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Mubarak must stay in power.
On Tuesday the Obama Administration said that political reform will be a gradual process.
(h/t Weasel Zippers)
Chris Matthews: “You know, gentlemen, I’m a little bit jubilant right now, a little bit frisky so I’ll say something that will bother people…In a way it’s like it took Obama to have this [the revolution in Egypt] happen, or it’s just so serendipitous.”
Wolf Blitzer: “A lot of us remember that speech President Obama gave in Cairo in 2009. I’m not sure he expected that this would develop. I don’t know if that was a result of this or what the impact was, but it was a dramatic speech at the time. Now we’re seeing what’s happening on the streets of Cairo. I suspect it will spread elsewhere.”
Former leader of the parliamentary bloc of the banned Muslim Brotherhood, Mohamed el-Katatni: “I salute the Egyptian people and the martyrs. This is the day of victory for the Egyptian people.”
Bill Maher: “I think he’s [Obama] a centrist the way he’s a Christian…he’s pretending to be a centrist.”
Director of National Intelligence James Clapper: “The term Muslim Brotherhood is an umbrella term for a variety of movements. In the case of Egypt, a very heterogeneous group, largely secular, which has eschewed violence and has decried al-Qaeda as a perversion of Islam,”
Howard Dean (on O’Reilly’s interview with President Obama): “O’Reilly laid out a proposition, that is, we shouldn’t have redistribution. That’s what governments do is redistribute. ”
Nancy Pelosi fund-raising letter: “We cannot and must not stay silent in the face of this extreme effort to undermine women’s health and reproductive freedom in our country.” Reproductive freedom is the right to kill your own baby before it is delivered.
Democratic Senator Charles Schumer: “They [the Republicans] are blindly swinging a meat ax to the budget when they should be using a scalpel. Some of these House Republicans won’t be satisfied with anything less than a shutdown of the government.”
Speaking about the need for high-speed rail, Vice President Joe Biden said, “If we don’t get a grip, folks, they’ll not only be teaching us, they’re gonna own our kids.”
Willie Brown: “Obama is probably more like Reagan than he is like anyone else.”
Ed Asner, when asked about the TEA party: “I haven’t the foggiest idea what they stand for, and the more you watch President Obama, I don’t see what they have to complain about.”
State Senator Robert Ford: “We need these workers here. A lot of people aren’t going to do certain type of work in this country. The brothers are going to find ways to take a break. Ever since this country was built, we’ve had somebody do the work for us.”
President Obama, who thinks he ought to get Reagan’s old nickname: “And then somebody – I don’t remember who it was – turned and said, `You know what? What about Gibbs’ tie? What about Gibbs’ tie? That might look good.’ And, frankly, Robert didn’t want to give it up because he thought he looked really good in the tie. But eventually he was willing to take one for the gipper, and so he took off his tie, and I put it on. And that’s the tie that I wore at the national convention.”
Bill Maher: “And Bill O’Reilly, who claims he’s such a patriot, how unpatriotic in my view to treat a president that way. How does that look to other countries when you’re interrupting and belittling? I just find it astounding.”
Shirley Jackson Lee: “What we [referring to members of Congress, because there are so many Republicans recently elected] will be doing is ignoring the people’s business of creating jobs and, frankly, putting ourselves in the role of a clogged toilet, meaning that we’re doing nothing, we’re stopped up.”
Journalist Lauren Booth, the sister-in-law of former Labour prime minister Tony Blair: “If the number of British Muslims increases you should know it will be only good for the country.”
Headline for article by CNN centrist John Avlon: “Is Right-Wing Talk [radio] Dying?”
Ron Reagan: “Just on the basis of intelligence, you would have to say Barack Obama. I don’t think my father has anything in common with Sarah Palin whatsoever. I’m a little offended that we even have to talk about Sarah Palin, who has nothing interesting to say.”
NPR’s Jonathan Katz, explaing contemporary homophobia among conservatives: “It’s no longer the same game that it was 15, 20 years ago, where you simply had to point out the homo and yell ‘Kill it!’ And the mob attacked. Now, you have to clothe your homophobia in something else.”
More civility from the left. Randi Rhodes calls Michele Bachmann a “freak” and a “loser.”
Liberals from the Past:
Joe Biden, shortly before being chosen as Obama’s running mate: “I had a successful dump.” (Okay, he is not saying what you think he is saying, but he was being clever).
Liberals making sense:
Lindsay Lohan tweet: “I pray Egypt maintains it’s [sic] treaty with Israel and sets the trend for its neighbors to create peace with Israel and the entire region.”
NPR’s Lee Smith column: “President George W. Bush’s Freedom Agenda was based on the notion that around the world all men share the desire for liberty. It was our founding fathers who put forth the idea that this was not merely a human aspiration but a natural right, and it was the many generations of our forefathers who fought for that right, both at home and abroad. The Arabs had not been born with that privilege.”
Joe Biden: “I say to our Iranian friends: let your people march, let your people speak, release your people from jail, let them have a voice.” A little late, but still a good thing to say.
John F. Kennedy: “This administration pledged itself last summer to an across-the-board, top-to-bottom cut in personal and corporate income taxes to be enacted and become effective in 1963. I am not talking about a quickie or a temporary tax cut which would be more appropriate if a recession were imminent. Nor am I talking about giving the economy a mere shot in the arm to ease some temporary complaint. The federal government’s most useful role is not to rush into a program of excessive increases in public expenditures, but to expand the incentives and opportunities for private expenditures.”
John F. Kennedy: “When consumers purchase more goods, plants use more of their capacity, men are hired instead of laid off, investment increases and profits are higher. Corporate tax rates must also be cut to increase incentives and the availability of investment capital. The government has already taken major steps this year to reduce business tax liability and to stimulate the modernization, replacement, and expansion of our productive plant and equipment.”
President Obama: “We [the people of the United States] still have, by far, the world’s largest and most vibrant economy. We have the most productive workers, the finest universities and the freest markets. The men and women in this room are living testimony that American industry is still the source of the most dynamic companies, and the most ingenious entrepreneurs.”
Crosstalk:
Bill O’Reilly: Do you deny that you are a man who wants to redistribute wealth.
Barrack Obama: Absolutely.
O’Reilly: You deny that?
Obama: Absolutely. I didn’t raise taxes once. I lowered taxes over the last two years. I lowered taxes for the last two years.”
Conservatives:
Allen West at CPAC: “If we are to have a new dawn in America, it means reclaiming our Judeo-Christian heritage.”
Donald Trump: “I have a reputation for telling it like it is. I’m known for my candor…By the way, Ron Paul cannot get elected, sorry to say.”
Herman Cain, also a possible Republican presidential candidate: “They call me racist too because I happen to disagree with the president.”
Tim Pawlenty, another possible candidate: “I’m not one who questions the existence of the president’s birth certificate.”
Mitch Daniels, another possible candidate: “Medicare 2.0 should restore to the next generation the dignity of making their own decisions, by delivering its dollars directly to the individual, based on financial and medical need, entrusting and empowering citizens to choose their own insurance and, inevitably, pay for more of their routine care like the discerning, autonomous consumers we know them to be.”
Mitch Daniels: “When one of us – I confess sometimes it was yours truly – got a little hotheaded, President Reagan would admonish us, `Remember, we have no enemies, only opponents.’ Good advice, then and now.”
Mitt Romney: “Obama misery index … and it’s at a record high.” adding that there were more jobs created in Canada than the United States last month.
Mitch McConnell: “The legislative agenda of Barack Obama is over.”
McConnell: “And to the extent that the president wants to do what we think is right for America, we won’t say ‘no’ simply because there’s an election coming along.”
Charles Krauthammer: “Everything said about Egypt – the educated population, the proud history, the long civilization – all of it applies to Iran in 1979 as well, and it ended up hijacked by the Islamists. That’s the threat in Egypt today. The Brotherhood wants the institution of Sharia law.”
Budget expert Stan Cullender on the effect of continued TEA party involvement in politics: “The real fight here is between Republicans and Republicans, not Republicans and Democrats.”
Republican House Speaker John Boehner “Today it’s the Tea Party calling us to our senses.”
Jodi Miller: “Time Magazine’s Mark Halprin said, President Obama, “has a level of skill and sophistication that not one Republican can duplicate.’ Hey, Obama also has a level of high unemployment, budget deficits and vacation time that no Republican can duplicate.”
Jodi Miller: “Al Gore now says that all the recent snow storms do not disprove global warming. You’re right, Al, it’s the record low temperatures that disprove global warming.”
Andrew Breitbart, recounting a friend speaking to him awhile ago: “ ‘ACORN is protesting right now in front of the Fox television affiliate—right now!’ Right at the height of the ACORN scandal. ‘That’s the Fox affiliate; Fox News is about a block and a half away.’ I said, ‘What are they doing, protesting American Idol?’ ”
Rush Limbaugh: “You can’t win the future with poor judgment, a mountain of debt, an addiction to spending, and an administration staffed with amateurs and radical leftists. We’re not winning the future, folks. Slogans be damned.”
Rush: “If a true audit of the entire federal budget were ever done, there’d be a revolution in this country.”
Rush: “We are surrounded by people who want to tamp us down, and sadly, some of those people are now in positions of power in our own government — which is why there is a Tea Party made up of people who understand that the greatness of America is under assault.”
Rush Limbaugh: “If Egypt, my friends, has made anything clear, it’s that Obama has no idea what’s going to happen five minutes from now.”
President Reagan said, “We must reject the idea that every time a law’s broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.” Acts of monstrous criminality stand on their own. They begin and end with the criminals who commit them, not collectively with all the citizens of a state, not with those who listen to talk radio, not with maps of swing districts used by both sides of the aisle, not with law-abiding citizens who respectfully exercise their First Amendment rights at campaign rallies, not with those who proudly voted in the last election.
-Sarah Palin’s Facebook
And a great comment here:
The problem is not the cultural triggers. The problem is the mental illness. Like nearly every other culture on Earth, our culture expresses plentiful imagery and words concerning metaphors of weaponry, hunting, conflict, and war, and 99% of this does not come from politics. It comes from everyone’s daily life.
The despicable thing here was seizing upon a tiny insignificant corner of this vast and widespread cultural reality, based on a cyncial desire to create an association between a horrific event and designated political opponents. This was done almost instantly, from many directions, in advance of any facts whatsoever. This false claim was to some extent premeditated. The Democrats and the media were locked and loaded, by the admission of some of their own just waiting for something like this. They seek to undo the collapse of their statist program by creating a right-wing bogeyman. It won’t work. I predict this absurd attempt at slander will actually hasten the collapse. Too many people see the falsehood and cynicism. Too many people realize that when this desperate and defeated political movement talks about its enemies, it is actually talking about THE PEOPLE THEMSELVES.Wm T Sherman
-Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu
Really?!
Seriously?!!
In wake of the (anti-Israel) UN resolution passed less than a week ago, what the frak is it with the disproportionate response on the part of world media and world opinion in how they choose to characterize and see things? It would be like me writing, “Israeli paint ballers defend themselves from vicious mob of violent Islamist peace activists armed with steal pipes and knives”. The reality would be no less skewered and distorted.
This is definitely a predictable PR disaster for Israel.
Steve Schippert points out a nice article by Caroline Glick. Worth a read.
The man who is our president:
“Whether we like it or not, we remain a dominant military superpower, and when conflicts break out, one way or another we get pulled into them; and that ends up costing us significantly in terms of both blood and treasure.”
-President Obama yesterday at Nuclear Security Summit
The man who would have been:
Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., slammed the leader of the free world Thursday, calling the remark a “direct contradiction to everything America believes in.”
“That’s one of the more incredible statements I’ve ever heard a president of the United States make in modern times,” McCain, a Vietnam veteran and former prisoner of war, told Fox News. “We are the dominant superpower, and we’re the greatest force for good in the history of this country, and I thank God every day that we are a dominant superpower.”
The president we do have considers our military dominance a moral burden and a bad thing, apparently. And he is doing everything within his power to fundamentally transform America…I suppose this includes reduction of our military dominance and presence in the world.
I feel so much safer, already…
