Remember that? Covered here, here, here, and here (I’m sure I missed another dozen posts). The next week in anticipation of her weekly news conference, she avoids the topic and the press lets her off the hook. The press should have hung on to the story like a tenacious pit-bull until she either resigned or the truth outed. Instead, there she still sits…affecting our nation.

Congress has a penchant for passing toothless legislation, especially as it affects them. The STOCK Act is no exception. STOCK stands for Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge. There is enthusiasm for such a law.
Fervor over insider trading on Capitol Hill reached a peak last fall following the airing of a “60 Minutes” segment questioning whether lawmakers including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) made investments based on their knowledge of legislative activity to which they would be privy.
It was either after the 2006 or 2008 elections (I can’t recall which) that House Majority Speaker Nancy Pelosi addressed her incoming Freshman class and advised them something to the effect of, “You’re number one priority is to get re-elected.” Her reason for this makes sense from a beltway perspective – in order to push grand changes your party needs to gain and hold power. Obamacare and how it was passed is a perfect example of this. Government takeover of the health care industry has been a holy grail for leftists for some time (Apparently the rest of us are too unenlightened to want to emulate systems that will bring 18 month standard waiting periods for surgery or turning family doctors into an endangered species ), and the majorities that the 2008 election provided were the perfect opportunity.
