I read a story of how the song, “Silent Knight” came to be written. According to the story, it was back in the day when the organ was powered by an air billows. I don’t remember if it was on the day of the Christmas pageant of a church, or the day before, but the organ didn’t work. A mouse, or mice, had eaten a hole in the bellows, and it couldn’t be repaired in time.
The author of the song had to come up with a song that could be sung without the accompany of an organ, and, “Silent Knight” was born.
